    本研究は、カントの『純粋理性批判』第２版の「観念論論駁」を歴史的かつ体系的に解釈する試みである。方法論的には歴史的解釈と体系的解釈から成るが、以下ではそれぞれの成果の要点を示す。 歴史的解釈については、2021年度は、おもに同時代の批判と応答についての研究にとりくんだ。『批判』第１版に対する「ゲッティンゲン書評」は、第四誤謬推理の超越論的観念論をバークリー主義と断定した。常識学派の経験主義者たちやヤコービの信仰哲学などもカント批判の陣営に加わった。その他、観念論論駁への伏線としては、ウルリッヒ、シュルツ、アーベル、メンデルスゾーン、リードなどの同時代の状況があった。第２版の観念論論駁のあとも、遺稿のカントは、エーバーハルト等からの論難に応えるべく、観念論に対する論駁を試みる。この努力は晩年の『オプス・ポストゥムム』の思想圏に繋がる。晩年のカントは、シェリングなどの新世代のドイツ観念論者たちと対峙しつつ、「超越論哲学の最高点」を求めて努力を続けていた。 体系的解釈としては、時間論の観点から観念論論駁を考察した。観念論論駁は「時間において規定された」私の現存在の意識に訴えるから、時間論としての一面をもつ。観念論論駁の背景には、自我の内側に時間的な持続物とその変化を認めない超越論的感性論の第７節や、実体の持続性を証明する第一類推、外界から孤立した人格同一性の時間的意識を批判する第三誤謬推理などがあり、さらに第２版では、時間の直観には空間的描出を要するとする議論（B 154, 156, 292）が追加される。空間的な外的感官の優位性を論証する観念論論駁は、時間的な内面性とその外界との繋がりに関するカントの粘り強い思索を踏まえたものである。 カント研究の成果を盛りこんで、単著『ニーチェ──道徳批判の哲学』を刊行し、ニーチェに受け継がれたカントの超越論的批判の方法について解説した。

    本研究の目的は、論理と感情という視点から日本哲学を検討することにより、その多様性と可能性とを明らかにし、かつその成果をひろく世界に発信して日本哲学研究の基盤形成に寄与することにある。本研究では、西田幾多郎や田辺元などのいわゆる京都学派の思想家だけでなく、高橋里美、三宅剛一、阿部次郎など、草創期の東北帝国大学で活躍した人々に着目する。 2020（令和２）年度は初年度でもあり、まずは関連する文献の読解や情報収集に多くの時間を割いた。研究代表者・分担者は、①科学哲学・論理学の研究班、②西洋哲学の同化と異化の研究班、③感情・美学の研究班に分かれて、それぞれに課題と進捗を共有しつつ、基礎的な研究を進めた。 研究代表者の野家は、論文「東北大学と科学哲学の伝統」において、東北帝大における田辺元、高橋里美、三宅剛一などの業績を論じ、日本哲学における「論理」の系譜を辿った。分担者の上原は、西田や田辺など京都学派の哲学者について講演等で発信した。 2017～2019年度の科研費「感情の媒介的機能に定位した、よき共同的な生の構想」(代表・野家）の成果を受け継ぎつつ、この科研費研究の成果も盛りこむ形で、『エモーション・スタディーズ』誌において、特集企画「共同と感情の哲学」を組み、代表・分担者が「感情」をめぐる研究成果を公表した。 2020年度中に、林永強氏（獨協大）の協力を得て、国内外の研究者と連携して、日本哲学における感情について研究を進めた。その結果、2021年４月に International Conference, Emotion and Feeling in Japanese Philosophy を開催するに到った。

    The purpose of this research is to elucidate the mediating function of emotions and to clarify the nature of human community that could support good human life based on that function. In order to achieve this goal, our study adopted an interdisciplinary approach and attempted multifaceted investigations of emotions and community, by effectively utilizing the various academic resources of research participants, including philosophy, ethics, and psychology. One of the most notable results is the examinations of the philosophical aspects of the emotional basis of community, which led us back to the Japanese philosophers such as Dogen, Nishida, Miki, Tanabe. Our project includes experimental psychological research on the communal emotions (ex. jealousy and a sense of justice), which resulted in an interdisciplinary collaboration between philosophy and psychology.

    In this project I studied Kant's transcendental philosophy in the context of its receptions and critiques by his contemporaries. Based on the collection and interpretation of reviews, elucidations, critiques,etc.of Kantian philosophy in his era, I provided a reconstruction of Kant's philosophical developments from Critique of Pure Reason to Opus postumum. In particular, (1) the theories of self-consciousness, (2) the development of Refutation of Idealism, and (3) the arguments for freedom were the key themes of this study.

    This research elucidates the mechanism of Stimmung (mood), that is neither subjective nor personal. It works really intersubjectively between not only person and person, but also man and nature, moreover rules the atmosphere of the place. We confirm that we can constitute new anthropology and aesthetics on the basis of the Stimmung. We find that at the time of German Enlightment appear many publications for empirical psychology and anthropology in prints. Reinhold and also Fichte constructed their philosophical systems against empirical psychology. We discovered in Schelling's philosophy and Hegel's philosophy common idea brought about the empirical psychology and anthropology. Our studies clalify deep realm of unconsciousness under the philosophical knowledge, which is the origin of our creative faculties.

    I studied Kant's theoretical philosophy (especially of the Critique of Pure Reason) in the contexts of modern philosophy by comparing him with such modern philosophers as Descartes, Locke, Leibniz, and Hume. This comparison aimed at opening philosophical dialogues between Kant and those philosophers and thereby interpreting Kant's philosophical insights against the background of the "dialogic" history of modern philosophy. As a fruit of this study I published the monograph: The Abyss of Reason: A Study of Kant's Transcendental Dialectic (Tokyo: Chisen Shokan, 2014, pp. xviii+292+44).

    I studied Kant's Transcendental Dialectic in his Critique of Pure Reason (1781/87). I gave philosophical analyses of Kant's critical arguments against rational Psychology, Cosmology and Theology. These analyses brought me approaches to Kantian philosophical themes, i.e. the refutation of idealism, the problem of free will and the question of the ultimate ground of existence. On the basis of such studies I showed also Kant's methodological strategy of the critique of dialectical reason in his whole Dialectic.

    In this study, we examined the concept of "economy" which had the long history of usage from Aristotle via theology to the modern meaning of economics. What we call "economy" should be taken as a fundamental problem in the domain of ethics that is crossing with the diverse disciplines of studies. To inquire into that enormous and various works requiring study, we managed some seminars to have discussions and to clarify the perspective of this concept. As a result, we acquired a coherent comprehension along the long history of this concept, which, in fact, has not been thematized up to this time. We clarified in the end the essence of the fundamental problems around the "economy" and ethics throughout the individual issues concerning some modern phenomena and modern thoughts.

    1. As results of our collaborative study, we have found that the European contrast between the Ancient and the Modern was similar to that between the South and the North, or between totality and subjectivity, and that the characters of Modern Pictures can be discovered already in the Flemmish School in the 15th century, before Descartes. These themes were discussed in the articles by .KURIHARA, ISAKA and OTABE in Study of Hegelian Philosophy, vol. 12 and 13. 2. The progressive view of history was not an thought that simply honored the modern progress, but that was motivated by the hopes of overcoming the modern. Another expression of such hopes was the romanticism. These were themes of OTABE, KURIHARA and ISAKA in Studies on the German Romantic School (edited by ISAKA). 3. In the Hegelian thesis of the End of Art, a contrast between the Ancient and the Modern means that between art and philosophy. Hegel argued that in the modern atomic society, in which art was just an hobby, philosophy should get back the self-cognition of spirit and overcome the modern. These themes were discussed by KURIHARA (Article "When art becomes interesting"), YAMAUCHI, SATO, KATO, OTABE, MORIMOTO, KIDO, ISAKA and ZAKOTA in When art begins, and when art ends (edited by KURIHARA). 4. According to our research (KURIHARA, ISAKA, KATO), transcendental idealism was projected as another view of history as "development of self-consciousness", against the progressive view of history as quantitative accumulation.

    The purpose of this research is to make investigations into the concept of space from the overall and interdisciplinary standpoint To accomplish this purpose, we organized symposia and workshops in collaboration with many distinguished researchers from different fields of study : philosophy, psychology, aesthetics, religion, literature and architecture. The basic assumption of our research is that space is not to be regarded as an empty vacuum nor as the mere container of matter. From this standpoint we examined various aspects of the concept of space, especially its perceptual, aesthetic, philosophical and religious meanings. Although the discussed issues were various and very wide-ranging, we arrived at the common recognition that space is constituted by human mind and changed through human experiences. Many participants pointed out that cultural, historical and philosophical backgrounds play very important roles in the constitution of space. As a result of the study, it has become clear that space is in an important sense a product of human minds. It is a social and cultural construct and rooted deeply in human behavior and human life. The discussions among the participants were very stimulating and contributed much to the mutual understanding of different fields and to the comprehensive study of space concept.

  12. Studies on the Historical Contexts of "The End of Art" and its Significance at the Present Day

    We held three study conferences, i)in Yamagata on August 21/22, 2004, ii)in Niigata on November 20/21, 2004, iii)also in Niigata on August 6/7, 2005 (last two were held as public conferences). They helped the investigators to have common understandings of our themes. Concerning study trips, Hisatake Kato and five investigators studied in New York from February 28 to March 7, 2005 ; Zakota, Kurihara and Kido under Pr.Klaus Dusing at Koln University from July 2 to 10, 2005 ; Kato and six investigators in Germany and Italy from August 27 to September 5, 2005. Jun Yamasaki had several meetings with Pr.Walter Jaeschke who came to Japan in October 2005. Pr.Jaeschke gave us some interesting suggestions and wrote a new article on the End of Art in our report. Takashi Kurihara studied contexts of the themes of the End of Art from the hermeneutical point of view, arguing that, in order to establish the philosophy of art that discussed art, art as its object already had to come to an end. He translated hermeneutical works of Friedrich Ast into Japanese. Hisatake Kato revealed an archetype of Hegel's Aesthetics, arguing that "the Absolute" of Hegel had been influenced by Spinoza's view of substance, and art was one of the spiritual forms of self-recognition of the Absolute. He also revealed that the Hegelian philosophy of history could not accept the authorization of the past. Yutaka Zakota studied under Pr.Klaus Dusing, a leading Hegelian scholar, and translated an unknown notebook of a student who attended Hegel's Lectures on Aesthetics (1820/21) into Japanese. Seishi Isaka brought notice to the principles of "the darkness" and "the bad" on the paintings of C.D.Friedrich, painter of German Romanticism, and argued that art had to end before philosophy when the roll of painting was to express ideas or emotions. Atsushi Kido studied the Analytic of the Sublime in Kant's Critique of the Power of Judgment and discussed the difference and identity between the Kantian critical sublime and the metaphysical sublime of German Idealism. Kouichi Morimoto examined the present-day significance of the End of Art or its Anti-End, arguing that the thesis of the End of Art means for us that the "discourses" which have supported the idea of art come to end.

    本研究は、『純粋理性批判』(以下『批判』)にいたるまでのカント理論哲学の発展史を、18世紀ドイツ哲学の文脈のなかに跡づけ、カント哲学の歴史的な根源を再構成しようとするものである。本年度はとりわけ、『批判』に集約されたテーマ・思想単位から振り返って、前批判期から1770年代までの発展史を、当時の哲学的状況との関係のなかでとりまとめることを試みた。 そのテーマとして(超越論的観念論の基本構造、アンチノミー論の諸主題などとならんで)、自我論あるいは自己意識論をとりあげたが、その研究に基づき、論文「カントにおける自己意識の問題」を発表した。この論文では、まず1770年代に自己意識が統覚として演繹の問題圏に導入された経緯を遺稿にもとづいて跡づけ、ヴォルフやメリアンなどに見られる18世紀当時の統覚概念との関係を論じた。ついで『批判』第一版の誤謬推理論における純粋カテゴリーによる自己意識モデルと、ウルリッヒ、ピストリウスなどによるカント批判から余儀なくされた第二版での論点移動とを確認した。最後に演繹論における「統覚の総合的統一」を、それまでの自己意識論のアポリアを克服するための、新たな自己意識の<総合モデル>の構築の試みとして掘り起こした。 今後このテーマについてさらに研究をすすめ、『純粋理性批判』第2版におけるcogito ergo sumをめぐるカントの新たな解釈についての論考を発表する予定である。 また、カントの啓蒙思想を18世紀ドイツの文脈のなかに置くことを試みた論考「啓蒙時代における成年市民の概念-カント『啓蒙とはなにか』を読む」(図書『賢い大人になる50の方法』に収録)を発表した。

    This study intended to reexamine the values in early modern period which gave the grounds to our present ones. Because nowadays we come up against such confusion of our civilization that these old values and the social publicness are collapsing and the negative sides of scientific technologies are increasingly becoming acuter problems, our study has a pressing importance. In current year particularly we tried to examine the genealogy of the modern concept of "citizens" and its current problematic and thus described the "citizenship" which is needed today. As results of this research, Kurihara (head investigator) followed the idea of "cooperative liberty" in political documents in the Puritan Revolution period and the theory of social contract of Rousseau, Kant, Hegel and so on. And Kurihara also examined the ethics of industrial production, arguing the importance of giving the "stories" to the productive activities. Yamauchi traced the genealogy of the concept of "person" in the context of medieval philosophers such as Duns Scotus and discussed the philosophical ground of uniqueness of my personality. Kido argued the current meaning of the enlightenment philosophy by following the genesis of an idea of "citizens" in Kant's Enlightenment-Article. In these studies we traced the modern values such as "freedom", "citizen", "person" and "majority" back to the origins and reconstructed these original contexts. And thus, we think, we could offer significant perspectives to our present society.
