    While accurate environmental impact assessment of wind farm is required due to frequent landscape disputes, current assessment criteria do not discuss the viewpoint that wind turbines are rotating structures. In this study, we conducted five experiments to examine visual search and instantaneous vision using both simple and landscape models from the viewpoint of attentional capture caused by the motion of rotating turbines of wind power plant, were conducted. The results indicated differences in gazing behavior between the case when the windmill was stationary and when it was rotating. This suggests that visual attention is captured by the dynamic conspicuity.

    After the Sanriku tsunami of 1933, several tsunami countermeasures were proposed by the government and researchers. In Miyagi Prefecture, relocation to higher ground and measures such as breakwaters and seawalls were also planned. But the seawalls were constructed in a limited number of areas. In this study, we analyzed the commonalities among the targeted areas, and examined tsunami damage, relocation to higher ground, development plans, and road conditions. As a result, it was clarified that the priority purpose of the seawall installation plan in Miyagi Prefecture was not only the protection of human lives and local area, but also the protection of prefectural roads.

    After the 1933 Showa Sanriku Tsunami, comprehensive countermeasure was established by government and researchers and it has been pointed out that this guideline has some similarities with the approach taken after the Great East Japan Earthquake. The relocation of houses to higher ground, which was the most recommended comprehensive tsunami countermeasure, was implemented in many areas soon after the disaster, but other countermeasures were not implemented despite field surveys. This paper explores the budgeting process for upland relocation and other countermeasures, and shows that the budgeting for tsunami countermeasures emphasizes the consideration of the predisaster period, proof of effectiveness, and regional development.

    The standard design is suitable for making infrastructures in a short period, but it makes them uniform. To avoid making uniform infrastructures, choose some important facilities and give more resources than others. Before WWII, the national railways in Japan had a system that classified stations into some grades. As a result of the investigation, it is found that the stations classified into 5 grades. Stations classified the 1st and 2nd grade were designed individually but there were some restrictions on the budget or the lot size for the 2nd grade stations.

    This study investigates that an effect of schema on impression of landscape containing civil-engineering structures by psychological experiments. Previous researches have shown that for recognition of a scene, an object in associative relationship with a background is searched preferentially by evoking schema, and inconsistency in object and background is found to feel unnatural. A recognition of a landscape is a type of a recognition by evoking schema and therefore it is possible that evoking schema affects evaluation of landscape containing civil-engineering structures. This study aims to investigate characteristics of evaluation of landscape containing wind turbines focusing on schema by using manipulated photographs containing wind turbines as a foreground object that was either semantically consistent or inconsistent with landscape as background. The result showed that the scene containing wind turbines and background evoking schema of rural landscape was obtained negative preference, on the other hand, the scene containing wind turbines and background evoking schema of wilderness was obtained positive preference.

    The purpose of this study is to examine facilitation and inhibition in recognition of historical streetscape based on experimental psychology method. It was cued recognition task where the stimuli were pictures of Japanese style facade and two types of the presentation condition of stimuli were set, one was the successive cued stimuli condition that the cued stimulus was presented before presentation of target stimulus and the other was the simultaneous cued stimulus condition that the cued stimulus was presented at the same time as the target stimulus. As the results, it was found the recognition score became high score in case that the successive cued stimuli was high score of both Japanese sense and authenticity. In contrast, it was found the recognition score became low score in case that the successive and simultaneous cued stimuli was high score of both Japanese sense and authenticity.

    The purpose of this study is to clarify the effect on street image by cognitive characteristics of people in street. This study focuses on the schema acting to expect people presence in street. The results on memory experiment of objects in street, such as people, goods and sign, shows that schema acts strongly in a street within amounts of goods. Furthermore, the result of impression rating experiment of street pictures concerning different the amount of people shows that street image is likely to depend on the amount of people in a street with strong schema activation.

    The study investigated the time course of attentional biases for a shop facade in each attentional engagement and disengagement by using a forced-choice reaction time (RT) version of the dot probe task. The shop facades differing in the level of affective valence and amount of displayed goods were presented as prime stimuli at two exposure durations. The results showed that attentional bias varied depending on the valence and as function of the time course in the cognitive processing of a shop facade. These findings might provide the evidence of selective attentional biases towards physical saliency of the shop facade in early attention and positive affective valence of shop facade in late attentional process.

    The past study shows that the impression value of some view pictures is affected by the view picture presented just before. In this research, by focusing the amount and type of goods displayed the shop facade, the presentation conditions of two or more facades of having assumed the sequence scene of the street were set up. And the anchoring effect with those facades, and its differences by the facade kind were verified. It was clarified that the recognition of the facade changed relatively by the comparison and the adaptation by anchoring effect, as a result of the impression rating experiment. Moreover, it became clear that the effect tended to increase by the conditions that similar facades are presented continuously.

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the elicited impression of street facades by affective priming. Pictures of street facades differing in the amount of goods were presented as prime stimuli, and they were followed by presentations of human facial expressions of happiness or anger as to-be-recognized target stimuli. The results show that response times to angry faces were shorter after the presentation of negative facades compared to positive, and a reverse pattern of results found for to happy faces. The results provide support for the view that street facades elicit the rapid and automatic evaluation reaction.

    There are various types of aesthetic design of urban viaducts. It is said as a design suggestion that the complexity should be simple and not monotonous at the same time. This suggestion includes inconsistency. The purpose of this paper is to solve it through multi-resolution level complexity analysis, which is proposed at this paper.<br>As a result of the analysis and evaluative psychological experiment, consistent solution has derived. “Simplicity” is effective at lower resolution level and “not monotonous” is effective at higher resolution level.

    The purpose of this study is to clarify the cognitive characteristics of closed stores and other stores in shopping streets by focusing on attention and memory. In this study, two experiments on recognition method were employed. As the result of first experiment, it became clear that the dominant factors of attention for stores were color and contrast. From second experiment, it was indicated that memory about stores that have much or complex information was linguistic and it about stores that have little or simple one was nonverbal. The scheme of this study is the one that is able to comprehend the human cognitive structure on street scape.

    In this paper, the landscape with a mountain road was interpreted from a new viewpoint of composition of nature and road. From this viewpoint, relation between perceptual process and landscape evaluation was revealed. For this, perceptual process of roadscape elements was analyzed by a tachistoscopic experiment, Landscape evaluation with a mountain road was analyzed by a SD method experiment. Major finding are as follows: 1. Roadscape with cut slopes or retaining walls resembled nature visually, was evaluated highly. 2. Roadscape with road structures united with road visually, was also evaluated highly. The former is existing finding and the latter is new finding. These results showed clearly attributed to the viewpoint.

    Design with human recognition is very important for human square and plaza. In this paper, the relation between human behavior and places was observed in square and plaza. As a result, <BR>1. Eleven types of place, in the human common recognition in square and plaza were identified, and they are overlapping behavior as place to eat and read, place to drink and read, place only to read, et. al.<BR>2. Basic pattems of physical element showing the differences among types were identified, and they are on a location, place and structure.<BR>3. A location and place had an impact upon human recognition more than structures.<BR>4. Relation between the subtleties of pattem and the change in types and behavior were shown clearly.

The image of shops and restaurants was analyzed by using information specification which was defined by area of each categories of sign based on semiotics, and standardized by facade area of ground floor.     City planners, shop owners and researchers have been searching what factors determine the characteristic and attractiveness of street-scape in the commercial area. The type of media of shops and restaurants are picked up as the more influential factor than the category of shops or the forms, colors of shops in the paper.<BR>Twelve type of shops and restaurants are discovered through the analysis of noted eight commercial area in Tokyo, and these street scape are classified into four typical groups by the uniformity-confusedness, kinds and numbers of media. Those shop types and uniformity, numbers of media which proposed by authors can well explained the difference and sameness between eight areas in Tokyo.

    According as increase needs for better environment in residential area, a microscopic regional planning is getting more important. Although a very detail land-use analysis is required for this purpose, the conventional mesh data analysis is completely not enough in terms of accuracy. This paper first proposes a computer package program to compile a dot basis of 0.25 square meter land-use from widely published residential map. Second, a small case study to confirm the superiority of the dot basis data by thepro-posed tool is carried out in a small area in Sendai city. It was found out that the tool is quite powerful to analyze dynamic of land-use in many time.

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the elicited impression of street facades by affective priming. Pictures of street facades differing in the amount of goods were presented as prime stimuli, and they were followed by presentations of human facial expressions of happiness or anger as to-be-recognized target stimuli. The results show that response times to angry faces were shorter after the presentation of negative facades compared to positive, and a reverse pattern of results found for to happy faces. The results provide support for the view that street facades elicit the rapid and automatic evaluation reaction.

    As for the cognitive characteristics of latent memory and unconscious scenes, in a small-scale experiment, it was found that familiar scenes could be replayed (sketched) well, but the gazing point was scattered, and despite this, the detection of changes was quick. Expanding on this, we could not confirm the effect of less "interference" in visual information processing in the case of more commonly familiar landscapes. Therefore, in order to utilize the characteristics of quick change detection in actual landscape maintenance, we examined what kind of changes would increase the evaluation, and it became clear that changes in "appearance" factors could increase the evaluation of residential landscapes that are not necessarily highly evaluated.

    Even after the Hiroshima earth-slide disaster of 1999, many welfare facilities had been located in disaster prone area remote from existing villages. This study thought that if we let the welfare facilities which had been regarded as "hatred facilities" inclusively locate in an existing village, steady buildings safe from floods and the permanent residence of the staff with the knowledge of health and welfare may enhance the local disaster prevention of the neighborhood. We quantified the evacuation function of these local facilities by an optimization model of evacuation transportation. Furthermore, we noticed importance to take the maintenance of the disaster-response function in the long-term update and abolish plan of public facilities not only welfare facilities but also other kind of local facilities like public schools. We proposed a MILP model to analyze the relation between the evacuation and education of schools and apply the model to one example municipality.

    The purpose of this research is to propose a comprehensive disaster prevention and mitigation policy by performing benefit evaluation that takes into account the long-term changes in the local economy and society associated with the measures as well as the direct risk reduction measures such as coastal seawalls/dykes and town relocation. A review of the concept of examination of seawall height, quantification of the relationship between tsunami scale and occurrence frequency, probabilistic estimation method of storm surge, inundation depth estimation by flood simulation, evaluation of resilience of protective facilities, quantification of the effects of hard and soft measures, social implementation issues in the decision process of measures, economic evaluation, externality evaluation, etc. were examined with case studies. The results are being compiled as "Technical Guidelines for Coastal Conservation Facility Development Plan against Tsunami".

    Discussion with government administrators, academic researchers, and high school students through SNS analysis, evaluation of economic value on river scenery, analysis of travel guide books provides the following conclusions to gain river popularity. First, it is necessary to improve accessibility and facilities to sightseeing places of river to make environment to use rivers easily except losing nature and landscape. Second, it is important to make places for playing river activities like fishing and canoe. Third, these places should have hydrophilic facilities for people to understand rivers well. Camp site is one of the most attractive places for river visitors.

    In this research, Regional landscape planning and design is considered that, it should be discussed and practiced not only from the viewpoint of architectural appearance or greenery, but also involving the local environment, livelihood and community, which is changing all the time while the essence remains consistent. In order to develop a better methodology of such landscape planning and design, with the experience of various case studies, the methodology and tools for the extraction of the resource and value of local landscape, as well as a concrete framework of spatial design, are discussed in this thesis. Furthermore, the meaning and significance of viewing landscape beyond the visual images, is also discussed.

    The lesson of the reconstruction from Great East Japan Earthquake is that a bottleneck process of reconstruction would often happen at the implementation of the plan. On this study, we compared three different disaster affected areas; New Orleans, Sichuan, Jogjakarta. We uncovered the relationship between stake holders and the problem against the implementation. In New Orleans, the government tried promote reconstruction with real estate market, so around low market potential area, they could not but collaborate multi-stakeholders. In Sichuan, the government applied the counter assistant system, however, they faced a difficulty for encourage these independencies of affected areas. In Jogjakarta, the government vitalized the potential of the community with distributing the fund. To cancel the bottleneck, they cultivated the existing social resource.

    This study aims to develop the methodology and theory about the Landscape Planning which contributes to the Regional Sustainability. The results of this study are summarized into three categories. Firstly, in order to establish principles of the Landscape Planning, we developed the new theoretical model to understand the Regional Landscape, and we referred to the "European Landscape Convention" to compare the principles of this study. Secondly, we tried various analysis methods to describe the regional landscape, which were categorized into three points, static scene, dynamic sequence and lifescape. Thirdly, we investigated the cases about regional governance for preservation, activation and inheritance of regional landscape as the practical operations to realize the principles of this study. These results were published on the seminar held in 23/1/2014 at JSCE.

  16. 街並メッセージ論による繁華街構成の分析とその誘導可能性

    平成17度は、まず街並みメッセージ論の既存研究成果に基づき、人の認識に基づく街路類型を導出した。その街路類型に基づき、繁華街の構成を取り扱う。まず全国の繁華街に存在する街路が、どの様な構成となっているか明らかにした。その結果、全国の繁華街構成に一定のパターンを見いだすことが出来た。これに関しては、別途の調査で、ある程度、明快な秩序を見いだすことにも成功している。また各繁華街の構成をエントロピー指標もしくは位相幾何学的な分析を行い、計量的な評価分析も試みた結果、魅力的であると定評のある繁華街は秩序を持ちつつ高いエントロピーを示していることまでが明らかになった。 本年度(最終年度)は前年度に確認した繁華街構成の魅力に基づき、どのようにすれば、その魅力を高めていけるか、街路イメージに立ち戻り検討を行った。つまり、それぞれの魅力向上の為には、今まで街並みメッセージ論で対象としてきた「直接的記号」ではなく、現実的なまちづくりにおいて、改変費用も安く利用可能性の高い「婉曲的記号」に着目する必要がある。その「婉曲的記号」を整理の上再定義した。次に、街並みメッセージ論に基づく、街並みの規制誘導方策を提案し、その効果を、ケーススタディ箇所を選定した上で、フォトモンタージュを用いたSD法心理実験により導出し、ケース毎の比較を行った。これらの作業のために、調査・研究旅費を使用した。また調査結果をコンピュータに入力、フォトモンタージュ作成作業のための研究補助費を使用した。街並みとして、「婉曲的記号」が統一的化された場合、直接的記号と同程度の効果があることが明らかとなった。これらの分析・考察により、形態規制ではなく街並みメッセージ論に基づく情報量規制特に、「婉曲的記号」に基づく規制が現実的で有効であることを確認した。なお、この検討成果の研究発表を行った。

    平成11年度は,昨年度の,店舗単位でのイメージ分析の街路単位への拡張を行った.まず特徴的な街並みを含むように,東京を中心に実際の11街路19区間について調査を行い,実際の街並み写真及び地図等の基礎資料収集を行った. 街路の景観特性は、店舗のパターン認識の集積であると捉え,店舗のイメージから,街路のイメージを説明する論理的枠組みの整理を行った.即ち,店舗パタンにはイメージの代表値があり,その代表値を昨年度の成果である店舗パタンごとに店舗イメージ平面の重心として算出し,これに基づき,実際の街並みのイメージ指標を,店舗軒数による重み付き平均及び分散を,街並みイメージ計量手法として提案した.これに基づき調査した19区間について,街並みイメージの計量を行った. 一方,昨年度の店舗と同様,街並みイメージを,被験者に分類試験,SD法心理実験を行うことを通じて,街並みイメージの実験的把握を行った.その結果と,街並みイメージを計量手法による結果を比較検討を行ったところ,極めて良好に,双方が一致することが確認された.これは即ち,提案した街並みイメージ計量手法の有効性の証左であると考えられる.このことにより,概ね街路単位においても,店舗同様,店外論理記号猥雑さを演出し,店外直感記号がそれを補完している点,店外直感記号及び店内直感記号の多さが親近感を演出している点,論理記号の多さが疎外感を演出していること等が明らかとなった.
