    Features of study on the Micho and Yumemi in the main hall of Hasedera in the 11th and 12th century were analyzed on following 3 aspects. 1. According to “Genjimonogatari” and “Makuranosoushi”, pilgrims dissatisfied with the environment inside the main hall of Hasedera due to their position and the noise around them. 2. Micho was a shroud that covered the statue of Kannon. According to “Honcho Hokke Genki”, the incarnation of Kannon appeared from the Micho in a dream. 3. By creating many Buddhist stories, the spatial structure centered on the Micho was accepted by people.

    When the Daigakuryo, where the Confucian ceremony of Sekiten was held, was destroyed in the Great Fire of Angen, the venue was moved to the Dajokancyo. Naturally, the spatial characteristics and composition differ between the Daigakuryo, a place of learning, and the Dajokancyo, a ceremonial venue for governmental rituals. This study examines the changes in the content of the Sekiten ceremony resulting from this spatial transition and clarifies the architectural space of the Dajokancyo by analyzing the movement patterns of the individuals involved in the Sekiten ritual.

    The purpose of this paper is to clarify the establishment and the background in the meiji era on De Forest Hall. On his second visit to Japan in 1896, of the three buildings, De Forest resided in one of the buildings at 6-1 Minamirokken-cho. This is the building that eventually became De Forest Hall. The three cherished buildings were designed in 1887 by an architect of the name of Ueda who also created other public buildings such as the Miyagi prefecture parliamentary building. In keeping with the set of three buildings at Katahira-cho and Minamirokken-cho, De Forest Hall as it exists today continues to stand on the same plot as the former building at 6-1 Minamirokken-cho. As it is the only one of the three buildings still in existence, architecturally speaking it has significant historical value.

    The purpose of this paper is to clarify the building and the meaning of Buddhist Sanctum at Yoko-ji. A summary will be given as follows:<br>1. Yoko-ji was bigger than Soji-ji, because Keizan Jokin did not build Buddhist Sanctum and &ldquo;Hattou&rdquo; in Soji-ji while he lived.<br>2. In Buddhist Sanctum at Yoko-ji, Keizan performed a lot of ceremonies such as &ldquo;shukusin-shushou&rdquo; and &ldquo;sanji-fugin&rdquo; with &ldquo;darani-fugin&ldquo;.<br>3. The &ldquo;sanji-fugin&rdquo; performed in Buddhist Sanctum at Tofuku-ji had a meaning as external incantations and prayers. In the case of in Yoko-ji, it is thought that he performed as external incantations and prayers too, because of relations with &ldquo;Keizan-shingi&rdquo; and &ldquo;Esan-koki&rdquo;.<br>4. Because Keizan regarded &ldquo;shukusin-shushou&rdquo; performed in Buddhist Sanctum at Yoko-ji as important, it is thought that he regarded the existence of Buddhist Sanctum in itself as important too.<br>5. Buddhist Sanctum at Yoko-ji was called &ldquo;Kakukou-hoden&rdquo;. It is thought that Buddhist Sanctum at Yoko-ji was the architecture to enlightenment the client, because of Gido Shushin's explanation and a similar instance in gosan&rdquo;.<br>6. Keizan defined Yoko-ji as the base of the sect, and the place meeting with client as ceremony. And he defined Soji-ji as &ldquo;sosho&rdquo; where a Buddhist priest trained himself. These accords with that he regarded external ceremony as important in Yoko-ji, and he planned in Soji-ji around a &ldquo;sodo&rdquo;.

    The purpose of this paper is clarify the scale and feature of Zuisenji temple in the medieval ages. A summary will be given as foUows : 1. Zuisenji temple which Muso Soseki established was a small-scale life space centering on hojo. This life space is similar with the environment where it is located in the back part of Gosan of south Sung or Kamakura of the same age. 2. If based that kyochi of zen sect temple concentrated in the circumference of hojo in future.'Zuisenji temple is positioned as a forerunner of the environment which suited composing gatha. 3. When Gido Shushin became "juji", the scale of Zuisenji temple was expanded aiming at "jissatu" for expansion of denomination. Consequently, the scale near the so-called composition of "sichido garan" was realized. 4. Each descent of the scale and social background of Zuisenji temple corresponded mostly.

    The purpose of this paper is to clarify the formation of a community and the compilation of "Shiban" over the "Henkaiichirantei" in "Zuisenji temple". A summary will be given as follows: 1, The community over the "Henkaiichirantei" in "Zuisenji temple" was able to form across time and space. 2, The "Shiban" work installed in the "Henkaiichirantei" was estimated by "Gido shushin" from a viewpoint of "Ninkyokenbi". 3, It was also recommended to request gatha from a high priest zen monk in another landscape, and to show gatha by high priest zen monk in "Shiban". 4, The occurrence in which a lot of gatha was produced involving "Henkaiichirantei" is also that the idea of "Ninkyogufudatsu" functioned well.

    In this research project, I have attempted to examine the genealogy of architectural designs and techniques of the eclectic architecture developed in medieval Japan, taking into account the external relations in the East Asian seas. To achieve this goal, I surveyed existing structures in Japan and mainland China and thoroughly examined their actual conditions. Based on the results of this research, I have attempted to investigate the distribution of components and techniques in Zen Buddhism-style architecture, such as Daiwa, Kashiranuki, Hiuchibari, and reduced pillars, and the process of information distribution that can be said to result from this distribution.

    How was the 'architectural design' of the Zen sect in the Middle Ages circulated and had a meaning in space? In order to clarify this problem, this study considers the eclectic architecture made in the Middle Ages, wooden building in China, related image historical materials and literature historical materials and document historical materials. We found similarities and differences in each case between Japan and China, such as the composition and form of the room as seen in the design of the beams and ceilings of the building, as well as building equipment that connects the space inside the building with the external landscape.

    This research is concerned with Japanese architecture and city.An example was investigated from the Japanese seventh century to the 20th century about the damage received from a natural disaster and disaster caused by man and passage as repairing, reconstruction and revival. Natural disaster and disaster caused by man.And I have that for making the technical innovation which ha occurred and the change in a style of building clear in the case in particular. The main outcomes are as follows. (1)Kyoto's great fire at 1177 and Nara's fire by Heike families at 1180 were the opportunity which causes a style of building called Daibutu-yo. Wa-yo style didn't became central as a result, any more. (2)It was a big trigger of an earthquake-resistant rise of the modern architecture by which the Nobi-earthquake which had occurred at 1891 was after that. But such as damage would be reported excessively, there are also a lot of points that information was operated.

    The lesson of the reconstruction from Great East Japan Earthquake is that a bottleneck process of reconstruction would often happen at the implementation of the plan. On this study, we compared three different disaster affected areas; New Orleans, Sichuan, Jogjakarta. We uncovered the relationship between stake holders and the problem against the implementation. In New Orleans, the government tried promote reconstruction with real estate market, so around low market potential area, they could not but collaborate multi-stakeholders. In Sichuan, the government applied the counter assistant system, however, they faced a difficulty for encourage these independencies of affected areas. In Jogjakarta, the government vitalized the potential of the community with distributing the fund. To cancel the bottleneck, they cultivated the existing social resource.

    The purpose of this research was to solve it also as that of the viewpoint of the history of negotiations with a foreign country individually concretely about fixing of "Zen-style architecture", and subsequent deployment. In research, I took into consideration the historical records of both Japan and China, and investigation of a traditional building and the new scientific result in an adjoining domain. The following became clear as a result of examination. As a result of inquiring a local exception and according to a time, many actual conditions which cannot be understood only with the existing style concept understood the Buddhist temple in China and Japan. Moreover, when Kinki and the Setouchi district were greatly compared with the east country, it turned out that the big difference in the history of a medieval Buddhist temple is seen.

    前年度にひきつづき本年度は、申請した研究テーマのもと、入手絵図および関連既往研究の整理とともに、関連絵図の新たな調査を行った。鎌倉国宝館蔵の「往古仏殿之図」のほか、名古屋工業大学所蔵の各種木割書にみる「人体相関図」を現地調査し、研究の基礎的情報を得た。平行して、昨年度実見した「大宋諸山図」もあわせて、絵図に書き込まれた各種情報を、文献史料や既往研究と照らし合わせながら、その意味を多角的に検討した。また、各種の研究会を組織することで、関連する学術情報を収集した。 その結果、「往古仏殿之図」および「人体相関図」に関して以下のことが明らかとなった。 1)宝暦期に修復された「往古仏殿之図」は、中世の頃に存在した仏殿を描いたものだが、写実的なものではなく、あくまで想像的に描かれたもので、建築の施工を目的に描かれたものではなかった可能性が高い。 2)禅宗寺院の伽藍配置を人体に擬えた「人体相関図」は、加賀建仁寺流や四天王寺流の大工を中心に流布していた。また、北陸および東北地方を中心に、神社の建築や境内をもこの人体に擬えて表現する絵図が存在する。 これらの検討結果は、禅院とその建築および絵図にさまざまな意味が込められていたことの証左として、建築情報の伝達プロセスをうかがえる事例の一つとして極めて興味深い。

    本研究の目的は、中世の禅院における塔の実態とその意味を、文献史料・絵図・文化財・跡地を調査することで、多角的に明らかにすることである。中世における禅院の塔を網羅的に検討し、その意味を考察するにあたり、文献史料の検討にくわえ、禅院を描いた絵図の検討と、文化財および跡地にみる遺構や周辺環境の検討といった、大きく二つの主題から考察してゆく。それにあたり平成20年度は、研究に関する資史料の収集および整理に重点をおき、既に入手している史料および関連する先行研究の整理を実施した。くわえて、文化財修理報告書・文化庁保存図面を事前に調査、検討したうえで、全国における禅院の塔の分布および残存状況、それぞれの特質と規模を確認、整理した。これに関連して、今年度は大慈恩寺・胎蔵寺・大山寺(千葉県)、長興寺・三明寺・東観音寺・観音寺・安国寺・薬師堂(愛知県・岐阜県)、大宝寺・本山寺・善通寺・讃岐国分寺・光勝院・切幡寺・最御崎寺・土佐国分寺・吸江寺・善光寺(愛媛県・香川県・徳島県・高知県)、明王院・安国寺・浄土寺・天寧寺・不動院(広島県)における遺構や跡地において、実測ならびに撮影を行った。 以上、今年度は今後の研究に用いるための資史料収集と図化作業を中心に実施した。くわえて、今回の研究で得られた史料の一端を用いて、学会などの機会を利用して、本研究によって得られた成果を公表した。

    The conclusion are as follows : (1)The study of the document named DAISO SHOZANZU with actual visits of Chinese historic architecture guides redefinition of the architectural style both of the Japanese and the Chinese. (2) The main area of China became to the cities network in Kosyu bay area from that around Sean. It is a new recognition of Chinese city history. (3) Chinese city houses held two characteristics to enjoy comfortable conditions, one was to commune with water, another was to have courtyard.
