    Using the unique scanning-probe techniques, in the non-equilibrium quantum Hall regime, we found the spatial correlation between the electron scattering region from the one-dimensional spin-polarized edge channel and the nuclear spin polarization region. Furthermore, a similar correlation was found in quantum point contacts that form a one-dimensional electron system. These results provide microscopic pictures of one-dimensional hyperfine interaction between the electron and nuclear spins that induces the intriguing phenomenon in the non-equilibrium quantum Hall regime.

    調整機構付きの加熱探針ホルダーを製作し、加熱探針リソグラフィーの微細化を試みた。この結果、探針を容易に装着できるようになり、従来手法に比べて大幅な時間短縮に成功した。ホルダーの先端部の形状や配線接続部の強度も改良したため、学生でも容易に取り扱えることを確認した。リソグラフィー精度の微細化は、シリコン基板上に感熱レジストと犠牲層レジストを2層構造に塗布した試料を作製し、原子間力顕微鏡にて電圧、触圧等の描画条件を変化させ基板の任意の場所へ描画を行い、最小で0.23μmのラインパターンを確認し、微細精度の向上ができた。

    An InSb quantum point contact (QPC) has been successfully fabricated in a two-dimensional InSb heterostructure by using a trench-type in-plane gate. The magneto-transport characteristics show crossings of the 1D subbands under an in-plane magnetic field. The QPC device shows the typical characteristics of parallel channels under asymmetric gate bias, suggesting electron accumulation along the side walls of the trench. We demonstrated that a triple-gated GaAs QPC produces the well-defined quantized conductance even using a relatively low mobility wafer. By using this QPC structure, we have successfully observed dynamic nuclear polarization in QPC and resistively-detected NMR. We also access a fundamental feature of InSb two-dimensional system, especially the simplest quantum Hall ferromagnet realized under tilted magnetic field. A newly observed reciprocity of the NMR response suggests an important role of the chiral edge channel for the dynamic nuclear polarization.

    We established a scanning nuclear-spin resonance method suitable for semiconductor quantum systems. To achieve this goal, we combined electrical-resistive detection and local nuclear resonance utilizing scanning probe. This technique allows us local detection of both nuclear resonance intensity and Knight shift proportional to the electron spin polarization in the quantum channel of the semiconductor system. To show powerful feature of our new technique, we use quantum Hall breakdown as a model system. We have succeeded to observe local nuclear polarization and electron spin polarization. Our technique open up new avenues for nano magnetic resonance imaging of various quantum devices.
