    The first chapter of the Yajurveda-Samhitas (YS) consists of the mantra collections for isti, the fundamental of which is practically to be understood as the new and full moon sacrifice (Darsapurnamasa). Every YS has the section «Grazing» as its opening. This is the ritual procedures of the so called Upavasatha day, the preceding day of chief offerings are made. There was probably not an exclusive place for the pasture, but the grazing land seems to have been áranya- (a wilderness), the place where no one has his own claim.<br>In this paper, I examine closely the four mantras in this section and the correspondent brahmanas. The mantras are recited for the safety and fertility of the cow grazing in aranya. Comparing the mantras with Rgveda VI 28, 7, which has parallel phrases, we can see an aspect of the nomadic life and trace its change in the Aryan society. It enables us also to confirm how the YV texts were gradually produced and codified.

    ヴェーダ祭式は，家長が祭主として祭官に執行を依頼するという形で行われる。式次第の途中には，執行者となる祭官を選任する儀礼（プラヴァラ，原義は「選びとること」）が挿入され，祭主の家系図が読み上げられる。本研究は，ヴェーダ祭式における祭官選任儀礼の包括的精査により，祭式の整備過程と社会の変化の解明に資する資料を提示することを目的とする。祭官選任は最古の『リグヴェーダ』（紀元前1200年頃）に既に言及されているが，儀礼の詳細は紀元前8世紀の文献において初めて議論され，祭式整備の過程で家系を論ずる必要が新たに生じたことを推測させる。なぜ祭官選任の際に祭主の家系が問題になるのか。また，なぜ既に進行している式次第の途中で祭官を選任するのか。当該儀礼の整備の背景には，移住から定住へという生活形態の変化と，著しい王権の伸長があったと考えられる。 インドの社会階層を構成する四ヴァルナ（婆羅門，クシャトリヤまたはラージャニヤ，ヴァイシュヤ，シュードラ）とこれらの序列は，最古の『リグヴェーダ』まで遡る。四ヴァルナの階層性は後代に成立した『マヌ法典』などのヒンドゥー法典類によって更に強化され，現代に至るまでインドの社会に影響を与えている。儀礼名である「プラヴァラ」の語は，後には「家系図」を謂うものとして用いられるようになる。四ヴァルナが世襲制である点を考慮すると，家系を巡る議論の進展がインド社会における階層性の強化に果たした役割は小さからぬものと言える。本研究ではヴェーダ文献の関連箇所を精査し，古代インドにおける階層社会形成過程の解明にも寄与しうる成果を目指す。

    本研究の構成員は、地域ごとに日本班、中国班（台湾、韓国、ベトナムも含む）インド・チベット・ブータン班に分かれ、研究対象ごとにそれぞれの内部で医事文献組、思想文献組およびフィールド組に分かれる。 ２０１９年度は、まず最初の４ヶ月の間に１年間及び３年間の活動計画・研究目的などを構成員にメーリングリストで連絡し、総員の基本的なコンセンサスを得るべく議論を行った。さらに、各地域を担当する班ごとに、研究の進め方について打合せと情報交換を行い、各班および各組における研究計画を定めた。また、各班のフィールド組は、視察する機関や海外協力者との連絡と打ち合わせを行った。 それを踏まえて、第１回全体会合を８月２日に開催した。このとき、各班が足並みをそろえた研究や作業を行えるように研究計画の調整を試み、当該時点までに進めてある研究内容についての報告会と勉強会も行った。 ８月以降は各班の各構成員がそれぞれの課題と目標に基づいて作業を進めた。文献組は、必要な資料の収集に努め、適宜同一ユニットの人々と情報や意見を交換しつつ、重要文献の解読作用等を進めた。フィールド組の人は、夏から冬の休みの期間などを使って、各自の担当フィールドに可能な限り赴き、情報収集や資料収集などの活動を行った。 年末の２０１９年１２月２９日には再び全体集会を行い、海外協力者の招聘と講演、および構成員による研究報告会等を実施しつつ、今年度の進行程度や成果を確認し、それを基に来年度の計画の打合せを行った。 なお、コアメンバーの横手、浦山、内山はこれらの過程を通じて常に各構成員（研究分担者、研究協力者、海外協力者）の間に立って連絡を行いつつ、情報の共有や各班・各組における作業の進度あるいは方向等の調整にあたった。

    Vedic ritual is held by priests who are commissioned to organize it in order to fulfill a sacrificer's desire. Although Vedic literature includes many discussions on relationship between a priest and a sacrificer, it remains unclear how the life or status of a sacrificer is in reality. Besides that, the fact is not sufficiently known that the early Vedic priests admitted a king’s participation as a sacrificer under a quite limited situation only. We can be sure that the alteration of their life or society influences the state of a sacrificer. This study aims to provide with a stable source to clarify the actual condition of their religion and the development of their society.

    This study examines some ritual procedures and materials related to processing fresh milk into five kinds of fermented milk product in the oldest religious texts in India known as"Veda". It focuses on dadhi, atancana, samnayya, amiksa, and payasya in the Brahmanas (ca. 800-600 B. C.) and Srautasutras (ca. 500-B. C.). The ancient Aryas made their living by raising cattle. We can find references to various dairy products in their religious texts. Those products were not only everyday foodstuffs but also principal oblations. The descriptions of them, if not always clear, provide information about the methods used to process them. The main aim of this study is to identify these products exactly and to elucidate their religious meaning.

    本研究は,ヤジュルヴェーダサンヒター冒頭のマントラ(祭詞,祝詞)集成とそのブラーフマナ(マントラの解釈,意義付けと神学議論)のローマ字テキスト作成,翻訳と注解,並びに分析を行い,ヴェーダ祭式における穀物祭の本祭前日に成される準備儀礼について全容を解明することを目的として出発した。内容は「放牧」「敷き草刈り」「搾乳と酸乳製造」という3つの表題に分けられ,研究全体は「総論」「テキスト」「翻訳」「各論」の4部構成を取る。本年度は「搾乳と酸乳製造」の「各論」後半部分に着手し,酸乳製造の由来を伝えるタイッティリーヤサンヒターII5,シャタパタブラーフマナI6,4と,他派に対応のないマントラを集めたタイッティリーヤブラーフマナIII7,4以上の文献箇所のテキスト作成と翻訳・注解を行った。これらの箇所は文献成立史と祭式の整備過程を解明する重要な典拠となる。しかし,それ故に一つの単語の意味を確定するのにも細心の注意を払わねばならない。また,各文献におけるマントラの扱いに関しては,後代の儀規文献(シュラウタスートラ)への展開の跡付けにもつながる問題を孕んでいる。中でも,先に挙げたタイッティリーヤブラーフマナIII7,4のマントラの殆どは,タイッティリーヤ派から分派した一学派であるアーパスタンバ派のシュラウタスートラにしか採用されていない。当該箇所を,ヴェーダ文献全体の歴史という大きな枠組みから...
