    本研究グループは、磁性ナノ粒子(直径約数nm)が誘電体セラミックス中に均一に分散した薄膜である磁性体-誘電体ナノ複相構造薄膜を作製し、これまでに報告例の無い新しい機能変換材料である『トンネル磁気誘電(Tunneling Magneto-Dielectric:TMR)効果」(磁場を印加すると材料の誘電率が磁場の強さに応じて変化する現象。室温で動作する。本研究グループで命名)』を見いだした。本研究は、このTMD効果の特性向上や原理の究明といった基礎研究を進めるとともに、新しい生体センサーの応用研究という次の段階にステップアップするための基盤的研究を行うことを目的としている。 今年度の成果として、①誘電体マトリックスとして用いるフッ化物(MgF2やBaF2)材料として、新たにSrF2に着目し、共スパッタリング法による高結晶化フッ化ストロンチウム-コバルトナノ複合薄膜の合成を実現し、理論に基づき、マトリックスの結晶化度を上げることでより高いトンネリング磁気誘電効果を得ることに成功した。②誘電体マトリックスとしてフッ化物に代わり各種酸化物を用いたナノ複相構造薄膜(Co-Al2O3、Co-MgO、Co-Ta2O5)を作製し、膜の電気抵抗のCo組成依存性がTMD特性と密接に関連していることを突き止めた。③これまでの磁性体-誘電体ナノ複相構造薄膜では、磁性体はおよそ球体ナノ粒子であったが、扁平ナノ粒子を作製することにより異方性を向上させて、膜の方向によりTMD特性を制御する手法を考案した。

    Nano-granular films, where the ferromagnetic nano-granules are dispersed in an insulative ceramics matrix, are known to exhibit the tunneling magneto-dielectric and magneto-resistance effect at room temperature. Instead of the conventional spherical shape of nano-granules, we change the nano-particle to ellipsoidal and lateral shape in this study. The film exhibits different multi-functionality independently along film plane and out-of-plane, respectively.

    Novel properties based on the nano-quantum effect have been created one after another by means of thin nano-double-phase structural films composed of magnetic nano-metallic particles and a ceramic matrix. In this study, the improvement of the "tunneling dielectric effect", in which the dielectric constant can be controlled by changing the magnetic field, has been achieved by combining materials, improving the deposition method, and controlling the microstructure of the film. Furthermore, we found a novel magneto-optic material, "Tunneling Faraday effect", which is about 40 times larger than that of "bismuth iron garnet", which is a practical material for optical communications at a wavelength of 1,550 nm, using a FeCo-Y-F-based nano-granular structure thin film.

    The aim of this study is to achieve miniaturization and high performance antenna by using magnetic-dielectric nano-composite materials. Small spiral antenna with SiO2 dielectric layers were fabricated. It is noteworthy that the size of antenna is 4×4 mm, less than o.o3λat 2-4 GHz frequencies. To evaluate wideband transmission properties from 0.1-40 GHz, a couple of antenna was faced each other with 30 mm distance and fed by 50 Ω matched wafer probes. High return loss of -10 dB was found at recent wireless communication frequencies of 2-4 GHz.
