    Abstract As the first experiment at BL10U in NanoTerasu, tender X-ray ptychographic coherent diffraction imaging (PCDI) was conducted using a photon energy of 3.5 keV. The ptychographic diffraction patterns from a 200 nm-thick Ta test chart and a micrometer-sized particle of sulfurized polymer were collected. Subsequently, phase images were reconstructed with resolutions of sub-20 nm and sub-50 nm, respectively. In the near future, tender X-ray PCDI with sub-10 nm resolution is anticipated that can potentially revolutionize the visualization of nanoscale structures and chemical states in various functional materials composed of light elements.

    Morphological control of C60 fullerene using liquefied porphyrins (1 and 2) as the host matrices was explored. Slow evaporation of the solvent of the equimolar mixture of porphyrin and C60 in toluene afforded the porphyrin/C60 composite with a 3:1 molar ratio. The stoichiometric binding behaviors suggest that specific porphyrin-C60 interactions operate the formation of the porphyrin/C60 composites, as corroborated by spectroscopic and thermal properties, and glazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray diffraction. Under the bulk conditions, the conventional thermodynamic advantage of multiple binding cooperativity for molecular recognition is unlikely to explain the stoichiometric binding behaviors. Instead, we propose a size-matching effect on the porphyrin-C60 interaction in the bulk porphyrin matrices, i.e., "supramolecular solvation". The glassy nature of the porphyrin matrices was transmitted to C60 through the specific interaction, and the porphyrin/C60 composites adopted glassy states at room temperature.

    This study was conducted with the aim of quantitative discussion under the conditions that there are large fluctuations on the surface and interface. We focused on the dynamics near the glass transition temperature sandwiched between the opposing surfaces, and the dynamical fluctuations were studied under shear conditions. As a result, we revealed that the dynamical heterogeneity increased near the glass transition temperature and decreased by shearing.

    Dynamical surface fluctuation of polymer thin films relating to dewetting phenomena were studied by grazing incidence X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy. The dynamical fluctuation of dewetting phenomena is known to be deep relation with the critical phenomena. In this study, the surface fluctuation of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane functionalized polysytrene (PS-POSS) thin films were studied since the introduction of POSS as a polystyrene (PS) end-functionalization group was reported to prohibit the PS thin films from dewetting. The constraint dynamical fluctuation of the PS-POSS thin films compared to homo-PS thin films were successfully observed, and the presence of high viscosity layer at the top of the film and decrease of surface tension were indicated.
