In this study, a reconstruction of exchanges in the eastern Eurasian steppe during the first half to the middle of the 1st millennium BCE was carried out on the basis of the analysis of bronzes. The results confirm the emergence of new technologies for bronze production in the Urals and Kazakhstan in the 8th-7th centuries BCE, and their diffusion to Mongolia and North China in the 6th-5th centuries BCE. This provides a new model for the diffusion of Scytho-Siberian cultures in the Eurasian steppe, and is also important for considering the cultural changes in the Central Plain of China during the same period.

This research showed the burial chronology of stone-slab grave culture from the latter half of second millennium BC to the beginning of the first millennium BC. The excavation at Khyar Kharaach and Emeelt Tolgoi Sites could elucidate the changing process of Khirigsuur culture at the same time as that of stone-slab grave culture. In addition, humane movement of herding society is proved by the physical anthropological analysis and strontium analysis. And we made clear the grave chronology of the typical stone-slab grave culture of Tagar culture in the first millennium BC.

本年度は、前半に、在外研究の機会を得たことから、渡航先であるハカス・ミヌシンスク盆地における資料見学および、当地における研究状況の把握を優先的に取り組むこととした（Ⅰ）。年度後半は、在外研究で得られた成果を纏めるとともに、ユーラシア草原地帯の時期区分における問題および、スキタイ系動物紋出現の意義について検討した（Ⅱ）。 Ⅰでは、ハカス・ミヌシンスク盆地におけるカラスク文化の研究状況を、特に近年の編年研究を中心に整理し、そこで重要な問題として挙げられるルガフスク期の開始問題を考えた。ハカス・ミヌシンスク盆地における研究成果と、盆地外部の資料を含めて分析した研究結果を対比した結果、ハカス・ミヌシンスク盆地における土器、墓葬の型式変化および層位に基づいた編年と、報告者が研究を進めてきた青銅器様式の変化状況が、興味深く対比できることが明らかになった。報告者は、ルガフスク期の出現を、本盆地外部からの集団移入とする従来の考えに変わって、本期を盆地内部での独自性の創出、発展期と評価できる可能性を提示した。 Ⅱは、前1千年紀初頭に出現する「初期遊牧民文化」でつとに指摘されてきた、草原地帯全体でみられる類似性の評価についての検討である。報告者は、草原地帯東部における「初期遊牧民文化」に見られる類似性を、当該文化以前の動態を踏まえ、相対的に評価しようと試みた。まず、青銅短剣という同一の基準を用い、当該文化成立前後における型式分布を確認したところ、「初期遊牧民文化」成立期には、当該地域各地における地域性が以前より増していることが確認された。一方で、動物紋は短剣の諸型式よりも広汎に分布するものであるが、以前の動物紋と比較した結果、動物紋そのものにおける規範の変化が、分布の背景として存在する可能性を指摘した。

本年度の研究実施計画において、報告者は以下の目的、解明事項を挙げた。本研究の目的は、中央ユーラシア全体の青銅器時代において、その文化動態における内的側面に注目し、当該領域の文化形成過程と変容に関する新たなモデルを提示することである。さらに、学史上指摘が非常に少ない、ユーラシア北方草原地帯東部における独自の文化形成に着目して研究を進める。具体的には以下2つの解明事項が特に重要である。 (1)前2千年紀前半におけるセイマートルビノ青銅器群の伝播過程およびその背景の解明 (2)前2千年紀後半のアルタイ以東における青銅器文化の成立、変容過程とその背景の解明 (1)、(2)の課題の主要な部分は前年度までに見通しを得られており、本年度は両課題で得られた分析結果を基礎に、ユーラシア北方草原地帯東部における青銅器時代の通時的な動態把握を試みた。前2千年紀末のモンゴル附近において、これ以前の、セイマ・トルビノ青銅器群、EAMP(アンドロノヴォ文化の青銅器文化)と区分される独自の青銅器文化が突如起こってくる様相を、それぞれの時期の分析結果に矛盾なく、整合的に説明できるかどうかが特に重要な課題であった。報告者はユーラシア草原地帯東部における、山脈を挟んだ地理的差異、それに基づく社会的状況の差異に注目し、モデルを構築した。また、前2千年紀末にモンゴリアで成立した青銅器文化は、ミヌシンスクで在来の青銅器文化と接触することにより、新たな青銅器文化を生み出した。この文化はミヌシンスクからモンゴリアへ拡散するだけでなく、ユーラシア草原地帯西部にも拡散したと言われる。この新たな青銅器文化の成立や拡散の要因についても、上記の地理および社会状況の差異が想定される。ユーラシア草原地帯西部への拡散状況については、本研究の計画の範囲を超えたものであるが、初期鉄器時代(スキタイ期)の物質文化拡散を考えていく上で、非常に重要であるという見通しを得た。
