In superconducting coil applications, magnetic fields are applied to superconducting material from various directions. YBa₂Cu₃O_y (YBCO) coated conductor containing BaHO3 (BHO) flux pinning centers is expected to be used as coil application. In this study, BHO-doped YBCO films were prepared by changing the substrate temperature (T_s) and thickness per pulse (t_pulse) using the pulsed laser deposition method. As a result, the isotropy of the critical current density vs field angle (J_c-θ) curve was improved in the BHO-doped YBCO film fabricated under the condition of low T_s and high tpulse. In the cross-sectional transmission electron microscopic observation, it was confirmed that BHO nanorods with gradually increasing tilt angles grew in BHO-doped YBCO film. The surface atomic force microscope images also confirmed that YBCO grains grew in three-dimensional island growth. The shape of BHO is determined by the growth rate of YBCO and BHO, which affects the tilt angle of the BHO nanorods.

In the longitudinal magnetic field state, critical current density (J_c) of a superconductor enhances compared with the J_c in self-field and it is called as J_c gain. We have reported J_c gain in BaHfO₃-doped-multilayered (ML) SmBa₂Cu₃O_y(Sm123) films on oxide single crystalline substrates. In this study, we aim for the J_c gain appearance in ML-Sm123 films on IBAD-MgO metal tapes for power cable application. We observed the J_c gain on metal tapes with good reproducibility. From viewpoints of the flux pinning and super-current flow, important factors for the J_c gain at 77 K were higher interface density, self-organized BHO nanorods with larger diameter, and the reduction of a ML-structure disturbances.

We demonstrate a large enhancement of critical current density (J_{\text{c } }) up to 1.0\times 10^{7} A/cm2at 5 K under self-field in (Ba,K)Fe<inf>2</inf>As<inf>2</inf>single crystals by irradiating 320 MeV Au ions. With the very promising potential of this material in mind, we have fabricated a (Ba,K)Fe<inf>2</inf>As<inf>2</inf>superconducting wire through a powder-in-tube method combined with the hot isostatic pressing technique, whose effectiveness has been proven in industrial Bi2223 tapes. The J_{\text{c } } in the wire at 4.2 K has reached 37 kA/cm2under self-field and 3.0 kA/cm2at 90 kOe. Magneto-optical imaging of the wire confirmed the large intergranular J_{\text{c } } in the wire core.

Anisotropic flux penetration into square lattice superconducting networks is visualized by magneto-optical imaging method. Diagonal flux penetrations appear when a saturation number in a hole is 1 or larger than 14, or small ratio between line width and periodic length of the networks due to enhanced pinning force in holes or repulsive force from the holes.

本研究は、高温超伝導薄膜における臨界電流の非対称性のメカニズムを解明する。省エネルギー電力機器の問題を根本から解決する超伝導応用の新たな機能性として超低消費電力で動作する超伝導ダイオードの開発が期待される。その軸として、申請者らが発見した超伝導ダイオード特性について、その発現メカニズムを解明する。計画している研究項目は、(A) 超伝導ダイオード特性を発現する高温超伝導薄膜のナノ構造分析、(B) 超伝導ダイオード素子の設計および整流効果の実証、の2つである。本年度は、(B) 超伝導ダイオード素子の設計および整流効果の実証に向けて、高温超伝導REBCO薄膜を用いて外部電磁石のない環境で整流を行うために永久磁石を素子に内蔵し超伝導体に磁場を印加することで単体で動作する超伝導ダイオード素子を設計し、整流動作を実証した。整流動作試験は名古屋大学にて液体窒素中にて行った。結果、超伝導ダイオードは1A級の整流効果を示し、直流入力信号にて非対称な臨界電流を示し、かつ10kHzまでの交流入力信号に対して1mV/cm級の直流出力信号を示した。以上の成果は、高温超伝導体を用いた超伝導ダイオードは応用に向けて素子単体で信号を整流することを示しと襟、本研究の目的である高温超伝導薄膜における臨界電流の非対称性のメカニズムを解明と、超伝導応用に向けた超伝導ダイオード素子の開発において、新たな手法を提案した点で重要な実験結果である。

To realize a low-carbon society, it is urgent to develop a power generation and storage energy system using high temperature superconducting coils. However, the high temperature superconducting coil has a disadvantage of burning out due to thermal runaway, and it is very difficult to detect it Therefore, in this research, we aimed to search for protection guidelines for thermal runaway of high temperature superconducting coils. In this research, as element development, we set up a numerical calculation system for thermal electromagnetic analysis in high-temperature superconducting coils, developed a method for measuring characteristics of high-temperature superconducting tapes. We fabricated a high temperature superconducting thin film to increase the current capacity of high-temperature superconducting coils.

We developed the cryogenic thermography for magnet application of the high temperature superconducting tapes to solve the local heating (hotspot) problem. On the first year, Eu-TFC is revealed to be applicable for cryogenic thermography by using fluorescent spectroscopy at low temperature and high field. In parallel, a cryostat with an imaging system for the cryogenic thermography with a high field and a large current capacity was developed. On the second (last) year, hotspots in REBCO tapes and a REBCO coil were observed using the cryostat. The normal zone propagation was visualized in the REBCO tapes. Finally, the hotspot the degradation area in the REBCO coil was identified at the overcorrect state by using the cryogenic thermography.

ナノ構造超伝導体として、正方格子超伝導ネットワークを対象として、磁束量子の制御・実空間観察を行った。超伝導ネットワークとは超伝導細線が連結した系である。50-300nm厚のNb超伝導薄膜に、孔径1-16μm、格子定数2-32μmの正方格子超伝導ネットワークをDCマグネトロンスパッタリング、フォトリソグラフィー、反応性イオンエッチングによって作製した。それらの試料において、温度3-9K、外部磁場0-300 Oe下での磁束侵入形状を磁気光学イメージング法を用いて可視化した。結果、正方格子対角方向、つまり次近接空孔間方向に磁束侵入容易方向を持つ磁束侵入形状(対角磁束侵入)が現れた。対角磁束侵入現象は、格子定数が磁場侵入長λと同程度、または低温かつ格子定数が大きいという条件で現れた。過去の研究では、高温超伝導体に正方格子状に小空孔を設けた系においては磁束侵入容易方向は格子平行方向、つまり最近接空孔間方向であった。それに対し、この結果は従来の磁束侵入とは異なる現象を可視化し、温度・格子定数によって制御するという新しい磁束侵入容易方向の制御方法を確立した点が重要である。さらに我々は対角磁束侵入の起源を探るための熱伝導率依存性・臨界電流密度・電磁気シミュレーションを測定・計算した。試料に熱伝導層として2.1μm厚のAgを蒸着した。結果、磁束雪崩が抑制され観測されなくなったのに対し、対角磁束侵入が観測された。よって、対角磁束侵入の原因は磁束雪崩ではないと考えられる。超伝導ネットワークにおける臨界電流密度の異方性を測定するため、電流電圧特性を測定した。結果、低温ほど対角方向の臨界電流密度が低く、磁束侵入の磁気光学イメージング結果と一致した。また、臨界温度付近、低磁場において、正方格子平行方向の電流電圧特性に非単調な振る舞いが見られた。超伝導ネットワークにおける磁束侵入形状を電磁気シミュレーションによって計算した。超伝導体内での非線形電流電圧特性を仮定し、正方格子超伝導ネットワークにおいて磁束侵入の電磁気シミュレーションを行った。結果、温度、形状に依存することなく等方的な磁束侵入が現れた。よって、対角磁束侵入の原因は超伝導体内の非線形電流電圧特性だけでは導けないということが明らかになった。我々は、3次元構造を持つ超伝導ネットワークにおける磁束侵入の実空間観察を試みた。我々は従来の2次元プロセスに加え、試料平坦化プロセスを加えることで3次元構造を持つ超伝導体を作製し、磁気光学イメージング法によって、磁束侵入を可視化した。試料は、超伝導薄膜の帯が横から見ると六角格子状に並んでいる形状を持つ。上下の帯の重なりによって、3つの実験結果が得られた。はじめに、上下の層で重なりのない試料において、通常の超伝導体帯での磁束侵入が観測されて、臨界状態モデルから計算された磁束侵入時の磁束密度プロファイルとよくフィットする結果が得られた。つぎに、線幅の1/3ほど重なった試料においては、スポット状の磁束雪崩が観測された。これは、上下交互に配置したストリップによって、反磁場効果が増強され、磁束が侵入し始めると、より帯中心まで磁場を運動させる力が反磁場効果によって、磁束に印可されたためであると考えられる。さらにこのスポット状の磁束雪崩はTc付近まで観測された。Tc付近まで観測される磁束雪崩効果は世界で初めて観測された。最後に、上下ストリップの重なりをさらに増加させると、帯方向とは垂直方向に伸びる磁束侵入が観測された。試料形状から、この現象は上下の帯の磁気的相互作用から起こったのではなく、上下の帯間の熱伝導によって起こったと考えられる。
