    In present study, the synthesis of spinel MnFe2O4 nanoparticles using a facile one-pot super criticalfluid method and their application for Mg-ion battery application as anode materials is reported. Thesynthesized MnFe2O4 nanoparticles were well characterized for their structure and morphology usingXRD, SEM, TEM and EDS analysis. The average particle size of materials was less than 50 nm withspinel structure. The main feature of magnesium ion battery is its high specific capacity and largevolumetric energy density, which makes it a promising alternative to Li-ion batteries. The spinelMnFe2O4 material has been used as an anode material for Mg-ion batteries. At different C-rates (0.05Cto 2C), electrochemical charge-discharge behaviour has been observed. In first cycle of the phase-purespinel structured anode, an initial specific capacity of 195.82 mAh/g, 139.70 mAh/g, 25.04 mAh/gand 14.16 mAh/g were obtained at C rate of 0.05C, 0.1C, 1C and 2C, respectively. A possible phaseconversion reaction of the anode resulted in a decrease in specific capacity with increasing C-rate.

    The observation of neutrinoless double beta decay is an important issue in nuclear and particle physics. The development of organic liquid scintillators with high transparency and a high concentration of the target isotope would be very useful for neutrinoless double beta decay experiments. Therefore, we propose a liquid scintillator loaded with metal oxide nanoparticles containing the target isotope. In this work, 6-phenylhexanoic acid-modified ZrO2 nanoparticles, which contain 96Zr as the target isotope, were synthesized under sub/supercritical hydrothermal conditions. The effects of the synthesis temperature on the formation and surface modification of the nanoparticles were investigated. Performing the synthesis at 250 and 300 °C resulted in the formation of nanoparticles with smaller particle sizes and higher surface modification densities than those prepared at 350 and 400 °C. The highest modification density (3.1 ± 0.2 molecules/nm2) and Zr concentration of (0.33 ± 0.04 wt.%) were obtained at 300 °C. The surface-modified ZrO2 nanoparticles were dispersed in a toluene-based liquid scintillator. The liquid scintillator was transparent to the scintillation wavelength, and a clear scintillation peak was confirmed by X-ray-induced radioluminescence spectroscopy. In conclusion, 6-phenylhexanoic acid-modified ZrO2 nanoparticles synthesized at 300 °C are suitable for loading in liquid scintillators.

    本研究課題は、ナノ粒子の格子ひずみに着目し、その歪がナノ粒子中にどのように生じ、機能に影響するかを評価することを目的としている。ナノサイズ化による歪誘起の原理と、格子歪による機能発現を研究するために、有機無機複合ナノ粒子の合成メカニズムについて検討を行った。今年度は、有機無機複合系における反応メカニズムの解析を目的とし、酸化セリウムの水熱条件下で結晶成長に着目し、速度論解析を行った。300-400 °Cの広い温度範囲で、水熱反応を行った。水および修飾有機分子のカルボン酸の量を変えて、成長速度の解析を行った。その結果、有機修飾分子によるセリウム錯体形成と、そのセリウム錯体の加水分解によって結晶成長が起こっており、無機単独系とは異なるメカニズムで、結晶成長が起こっていることが明らかとなった。水熱場で有機金属錯体を経由した高速な構造形成は、有機修飾金属酸化物ナノ粒子のサイズ精密制御につながる重要な結果である。 今後の計画とした錯体の形成を積極的に活用した新規な有機無機ハイブリッド粒子の合成法の開発を行う。これまでにない高精度のサイズ制御を、金属酸化物に対して行うことで、ナノサイズ化による巨大格子ひずみの定量評価と、それによる機能発現についての研究を行う基盤となる。本研究の、発展として、新規に基盤S研究課題「超臨界水熱合成によるハイエントロピー・ナノセラミクス創成」(21H05010)が採択され、本研究課題の新展開が始まった。

    In this research, we have developed a high heat conductive material that can be injected into the complex shape module by giving "fluidity" to the high heat conductive / insulating material. By synthesizing organic-inorganic hybrid materials by the supercritical method and controlling their dispersion and aggregation, we succeeded in creating ultra-high-concentration fluidic ceramics that achieve both fluidity and high thermal conductivity, and acquired knowledge that contributes to its design. This result is important because the amount of heat generated by the device has increased in recent years, and the developed fluidic ceramics contributes to thermal management for achieving the improvement of heat dissipation performance which is indispensable for maintaining the device performance.

    In this research project, we have developed a novel co-production processes of mono-layer graphene and hydrogen via hydrothermal cathodic reduction under a subcritical water. In the developed process, the hydrothermal subcritical water solution was used to enhance the electrochemical reaction kinetics due to an increased electrolytic dissociation rate of the water and prevent the formation of undesirable amorphous carbon. The hydrothermal electrochemical reaction enabled low-temperature graphene growth on a Pt cathode surface with simultaneous hydrogen production. The conversion of hydrocarbons/basic chemicals to the high-value-added nanocarbons, including graphene, carbon nanotubes, and fullerenes, with valuable hydrogen has high potential economic/environmental benefits.

    The fabrication of binary nanoparticles system is anticipated to induce the improvement of physical/chemical properties and the emergence of new functions. In this study, we developed the approach to fabricate the binary nanoparticles system and confirmed the synergetic effect by controlling nano-domain structure. As a result, ordering of binary nanoparticles by the formation of covalent bonds between the organic compounds modifying nanoparticles successfully formed well-mixed metal-metal oxide nanoparticles composite. The fabricated 3D-structured Au-CeO2 composite exhibited synergetic effect in methane reforming process. The oxidative ability was enhanced because of improved reaction kinetics on the nanoparticles surface.

    In this study, we developed scalable synthesis processing of well-controlled chalcogenide nanosheets catalyst by using supercritical fluid. As a result, we achieved fast synthesis of agglomerates of Mo(S,Se)2 nanosheets with edge-exposed structure by the assistance of reductive agents in supercritical ethanol. The layer-number-controlled and S/Se-ratio-controlled Mo(S,Se)2 catalyst exhibited excellent performance for hydrogen evolution reaction.

    Organic materials has attracted much attention as the electrodes in low-cost, environmentally-friendly and high-energy-density batteries. In this study, we analyzed the crystal structural change in organic electrode, and revealed that the crystal growth of organic compound during charge-discharge cycling can become a dominant mechanism of battery degradation. To avoid the organic crystal growth, the control of interface between electrode and electrolyte was effective. Moreover, by applying the organic active materials to electrochemical flow capacitor, the capacitance enhancement was achieved.

    In this study, toward the recycling carbon dioxide, we investigated the nanocarbon production process from CO2 using supercritical fluid and plasma, and developed the scalable structural control and separation processes for graphene. Through the studies, we achieved 1. graphitic nanocarbon production from CO2 using supercritical fluid and plasma electrolysis, 2. efficient production of zigzag-edge-introduced graphene with promising electrochemical performance, and 3. scalable structural separation of graphene by gel chromatography.

    To develop co-production system of hydrogen and valuable nanocarbon at low temperature, we studied the electrochemical synthesis of nanocarbon in sub-critical fluids. As a result, by hydrothermal cathodic reduction of acetic acid, mono-layer graphene and hydrogen co-production was achieved. This novel reaction system also facilitated the synthesis of more valuable nitrogen-doped graphene, and will contribute to the sustainable society as the innovative energy technology.

    At first, we facilitated the conformal deposition of Cu, In in nanoporous film consisted of TiO2 particles with the diameter of 25 nm via supercritical fluid deposition method. Secondary, we developed novel chalcogenization process using safe, low-cost and solid chalcogen sources instead of toxic gaseous chalcogen sources using supercritical ethanol as a reaction medium having high solubility and reduction power. By using these supercritical fluid processings, we succeeded in the conformal deposition of CuInS2 in nanoporous TiO2 film, and realized a promising 3D solar-cell structure with CuInS2.

    Zigzag-edge nanographene can be a promising magnetic material, which contributes to the magnetic separation and collection of minor metals. In this study, we developed a novel scalable production method of zigzag-edge-introduced nanographene by combination between anisotropic etching and supercritical fluid exfoliation. We conducted anisotropic etching of graphite substrate/powder with catalytic nanoparticles in supercritical water. Anisotropic etching made a lot of trenches consisted of zigzag edges on graphite surface. Because of the exfoliation effect of supercritical fluid, graphene was isolated from the graphite simultaneously with the anisotropic etching. Finally, the multilayer graphene with zigzag edge was exfoliated from the anisotropically etched graphite surface.

    Supercritical fluid plasma facilitates material syntheses beyond equilibrium condition. In this study, we developed novel generation method for supercritical fluid plasma. We succeeded in the plasma generations in conductive supercritical CO2 + methanol system with fluoride salt and supercritical CO2 + water binary system. Especially, in the latter case, we synthesis carbonaceous material from CO2 dissolved in water as a carbon source.

    本研究は、「超臨界流体プラズマ生成・診断・および、それを用いた環境調和型材料プロセスの創製」を目的とする。本年度の研究においては、この新規プラズマ状態、さらにはプラズマプロセスの更なる理解・制御のために"時間的・空間的な疎密混合状態のプラズマ反応場"のモデル反応場として、超臨界流体の密度揺らぎと比較し、時間的・空間的にマクロな系で揺らぎが生じている、バブルを含む液中におけるプラズマ反応場の生成・解析を行い、本プラズマ反応場制御に関する新たな知見を獲得した。 具体的には、生理食塩水中において100μm程度の微小電極にAC電圧(10-100kHz)を印加し、主としてジュール加熱による、ガス注入無しでのバブル生成を行い、バブル中でのプラズマを形成した。印加電圧波形の制御のみで、電極上に10分以上安定に存在させた単一バブルと、電極近傍で生成されたバブルクラウドとの2つのバブルモードにおける安定なプラズマ形成、制御に成功している。さらに電気的特性、プラズマ中の励起種等を診断すると共に、計算機モデリングにより、バブルクラウド形成時に見られるバブル流が、主に誘電泳動力により駆動されていることを示唆した。誘電泳動力は、電界勾配と周囲媒質との誘電率の差により生じ、超臨界流体プラズマ反応場においても、疎密による誘電率の分子レベルでの空間的不均一性により、この力が働くことが考えられることから、誘電泳動力が、超臨界状態も含めた、疎密混合状態のプラズマ反応場の効率的輸送、さらにはプラズマ処理の空間的制御に効果的であることが期待される。 また生体環境調和型プロセスとして、バブルクラウドモードでの液中プラズマ殺菌を行い、180sで99.5%の殺菌を実現した。本手法は、微小プラズマを用いることによる利便性と共に、高速処理能を有しており、次世代殺菌技術に大きく貢献しうるものである。
