    <jats:p>To develop sophisticated artificial systems that are comparable to those in nature, understanding the principles controlling the assembly of flexible molecules into giant structures is essential. In this study, the metal-mediated self-assembly of a flexible tripeptide into three giant discrete complexes was analyzed using small-angle X-ray scattering along with other experimental and simulation studies. We revealed the kinetic and thermodynamic contributions during the assembly process, which resulted in the selective formation of two giant discrete structures of similar sizes in a water/acetonitrile solution. We also identified the factors that open the kinetic pathway to giant [2]-catenane structures in aqueous solutions. The formation of structures containing multiple components is generally considered kinetically unfavorable. However, our results revealed that solvent molecules and counterions kinetically initiate the formation of giant, multicomponent catenane structures in aqueous solutions.</jats:p>

    Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a powerful tool for label-free chemical analysis. The emergence of nonmetallic materials as SERS substrates, offering chemical signal enhancements, presents an exciting direction for achieving reproducible and biocompatible SERS, a challenge with traditional metallic substrates. Despite the potential, the realm of nonmetallic SERS substrates, particularly nanoparticles, remains largely untapped. Here, we present defect-engineered coordination compounds (DECCs) based on Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) as a class of nonmetallic nanoparticle-based SERS substrates. We demonstrate the utility and flexibility of the DECC template by incorporating various metal (M) elements into PBAs to synthesize nanoparticles that deliver substantial chemical mechanism (CM)-based enhancements to the Raman signal with a ∼ 108-fold increase. The introduction of the M-PBA-based DECC nanoparticles as a class of SERS substrates represents a pioneering stride, enabling the straightforward and systematic exploration of a library of compounds for SERS-based analysis of a wide range of target molecules, especially biomolecules.

    We propose a new simulation procedure for the curing reaction of epoxy resin<br /> by coupling quantum chemical (QC) calculations with molecular dynamics (MD)<br /> simulations. A polymer network formation composed of base resin and curing<br /> agent is investigated using the present simulation. Relationships between the<br /> atomistic structures in the system and their material properties derived from<br /> the simulations are also studied. The polymer network formation includes the<br /> reaction between epoxy resin and curing agents. Accurate activation energy and<br /> heat of formation are required for simulating the reaction. In this study, we<br /> introduce the ab initio QC calculation to the MD simulation to determine out<br /> the reaction pathways. To validate our proposed simulation, we experimentally<br /> measured densities, thermal characteristics and mechanical properties. The<br /> simulated results agree with experiments. The simulated results also indicate<br /> that branching structures of monomers causes the coarsening of the network<br /> formation of epoxy resin, so that the glass transition temperature (i.e. Tg)<br /> tends to increase. In contrast with Tg, the densities and Young&#039;s modulus are<br /> dominated mainly by the backbone structure of monomers and the degree of<br /> conversions.

    Excited metastable atoms colliding with target molecules can sensitively probe outer properties of molecules by chemiionization(Penning ionization) from molecular orbitals. By means of two-dimensional measurements using kinetic energy analysis of electrons combined with a velocity-resolved metastable beam, one can obtain information on the anisotropic interaction between the colliding particles without any control of orientation or alignment of target molecules.

    既存の量子化学計算用の計算サーバーを用いて、超分子金属錯体の形成過程を化学反応経路自動探索法で明らかにするための研究を行った。その中で、錯体の材料となる有機分子の水中での配座異性体への変形過程と、金属原子が付着してからの配座異性体への変形過程とエネルギーの関係を明らかにした。本研究によって、超分子ナノ構造体の生成初期過程について知見を得ることが出来たので、次年度には学会発表と論文発表を予定している。 また、超分子2次元ネットワーク構造の構築過程を量子化学計算で明らかにする研究にも取り組み、有機分子の相対配向と相対距離を変化させ、エネルギーの低い構造を明らかにした。この成果は共同研究者のグループが学会発表を行った。次年度には論文発表を予定している。 他にも、高分子の架橋ネットワーク構造を生成する素反応過程の活性化エネルギーと生成熱を量子化学計算で明らかにした。反応シミュレーションと組み合わせて、いくつかのネットワーク構造を生成し、新たに購入した分子動力学用途計算機を用いたシミュレーションによって物性値を比較した。今後は、分子触媒の効果を入れた反応シミュレーション法を開発する予定である。 他にも、アミロースとアミロペクチンのラマンスペクトルを量子化学計算で再現することを目標として、グルコース分子モデルを検討し、良好な結果を得ている。米の炊飯過程で構造が乱れたアミロペクチンのラマンスペクトルの再現に威力を発揮するものと考えている。この成果はすでにシンポジウムで発表した。

    We have measured deep inner-shell 2p X-ray photoelectron diffraction (XPD) profiles from laser-aligned I2 molecules using X-ray free-electron laser (XFEL) pulses. By applying our molecular structure determination methodology to the XPD profiles, which were measured for I2 molecular ensembles with high degree of alignment, we have succeeded in determining the inter-nuclear distance of the I2 molecules in the electric field of Nd:YAG laser for the alignment. Thus, it was revealed that the inter-nuclear distance in the laser field is elongated by ca. 0.3Å, compared to that of the equilibrium geometry of the ground state.

    In Penning ionization of high-spin open-shell compounds (M) by collision with an open-shell triplet He* metastable atomic beam, we have investigated complex electronic structure and strong He*-M interaction by the collision-energy-resolved/electron-energy- resolved 2D spectroscopy. We have found that the change of electronic states of deposited organic molecules (five-memberd hetero cyclic molecules) was started by open-shell alkali metal atoms with the gradual heating of the metal surface, which was observed by the collision energy dependence of partial ionization cross sections with the electron-energy/collision-energy-resolved 2D electron spectroscopy.

    1.Low collision energy beam source of metastable atoms was developed by cooling discharge nozzle with liquid nitrogen. The He^*(2^3S) beam profile had been wide shape and high speed due to the high temperature by the discharge. In this study, we have performed wide collision energy range experiment from 20 meV to 400 meV. 2.In super sonic jet molecular beam, molecules are known to be oriented by frequent collisions with rare gas atoms. In this study, we have observed the orientation effect in super sonic jet molecular beam by collision energy dependence of partial Penning ionization cross sections. 3.In atomic collisional ionization process, one can observe satellite bands that are not observed in photo ionization electron spectroscopy. By 2D-Penning ionization electron spectroscopy, we can obtain information on assignment of satellite bands originated by electron correlation effects. We have observed shake-up bands as well as auto-ionization bands via super excited states of halogen atoms.

    1.高感度速度分解ペニングイオン化電子分光法 磁気ボトル効果と阻止電場型電子エネルギー分析器を用いた計測法により、従来の同心半球型電子エネルギー分析器と衝突セルを用いた計測法よりも1000倍高感度の2次元ペニングイオン化電子分光法を確立し、超音速分子線-励起原子線の交差分子線の(衝突エネルギー/電子運動エネルギー分解)2次元計測を行った。その結果、部分イオン化断面積の衝突エネルギー依存性が従来法とは違った傾向を示したため、超音速分子線中での反応過程の詳細な検討に入ることが可能になった。 2.分子と励起原子の立体反応ダイナミクス 分子と励起原子のイオン化反応における(衝突エネルギー/電子運動エネルギー分解)2次元計測結果と理論計算結果を比較して、反応系の相互作用ポテンシャルの異方性と妥当性について検討することが出来た。特に、励起原子と類似性の知られているアルカリ金属原子を用いた分子軌道計算結果を補正する手法の確立により、超励起状態のポテンシャル面を検討した。 3.有機分子の軌道反応性と電子構造 分子内にハロゲン原子をもつ分子の軌道の反応性を、置換基どうしの分子内相互作用やバンドのスピン-軌道分裂と関連づけて検討した。また、(衝突エネルギー/電子運動エネルギー分解)2次元計測結果にもとづいて、DABCOなどの化合物でスルーボンド/スルースペース相互作用による分子内軌道相互作用と電子構造を検討した。

    1.反応の立体異方性の観測および計算 励起原子と分子の相互作用に関する情報を含んだ2次元ペニングイオン化電子スペクトルの計測と理論合成から、反応の入口(励起状態)ならびに出口(イオン化状態)のポテンシャルに関して検討し、二原子分子(窒素および一酸化炭素)について学会ならびに学術論文で発表した。また、反応の起こりやすさと初期衝突条件の関係を明らかにするため、角度分解まで含んだ3次元測定を進めている。一方、芳香族分子のπ電子近傍や孤立電子対近傍での相互作用を量子化学計算と実験を用いて検討した。 2.特定官能基近傍での相互作用の異方性の特色 他にも、我々は、第2周期典型元素を含む化合物では、孤立電子対近傍で引力的相互作用がはたらくのに対し、第3周期典型元素を含む化合物では結合に関与しない3p軌道近傍で引力的的相互作用がはたらく、という相違点を見出した。また、複数の官能基近傍での相互作用を比較し、特にニトリル基の強い相互作用がアミノ基にも勝ることなどの情報を得た。この件に関しても、学会ならびに学術論文で発表した。 3.実験装置改良点 今回新たに電子エネルギー分析器を作製し、従来よりも強度・分解能の点において向上した。これによって、前項1で述べた2次元スペクトルの詳細解析を多原子分子に適用することが可能になった。
