2021年度は、本研究課題の主たる対象である東北大学史料館所蔵「大島正隆文書」について、前年度未撮影分について撮影を行い、すべての資料について撮影を終えることができた。現在は撮影状況の点検、目録との照合、タイトル付与などの整理作業を遂行しているところである。成果物としては、論文「創立期の東北大学日本史研究室」を脱稿した。これは、現在の東北大学大学院文学研究科日本史研究室の前身に当たる東北帝国大学法文学部国史研究室の創立期（1923年～1945年）の様相を、主としてそこで行われた教育、地域史研究、学会運営に着目して論述したものであり、従来知られていなかった事実を数多く発掘するとともに、「地方の」「後発の帝国大学」に置かれた日本史研究室の他大学と比較した際の特色と歴史的位置づけを明確にすることができた。依拠した史料は、新聞記事（『河北新報』）、法文学部発行の学術雑誌（『文化』）、学会事務担当者の旧蔵資料が主なものであるが、「大島正隆文書」に含まれる大島正隆書簡等も多数活用した。このことにより単なる制度的な変遷を追うだけの記述ではなく、当時研究室に在籍していた人物の視点も盛り込むことができ、複眼的・立体的な叙述とすることができた。また、大学アーカイブズの活用という面でも意味があった。論文はすでに最終校正を終えており、小澤実・佐藤雄基編『史学科の比較史』（勉誠社）に収載されて2022年5月に刊行される予定となっている。

本共同研究は、12世紀、平泉と周辺地域における仏教文化の展開と、その社会的基盤の様相について、歴史学（文献史学）・考古学・宗教史学・美術史学各分野の研究者が協同し、文献・考古資料（遺構・遺物）・石造物等の調査・集成を進め、中世初期東北・北海道地域史に関する新しい歴史像の提示を目的としている。研究活動の方法について、文献班・考古班・石造物班の三つのグループを組織し、各班が設定したテーマについて調査・分析を進め、それぞれの成果を集成し、総合的な考察を行うという体制をつくった。しかし、2020年度の活動は、新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大状況により、当初予定していた作業を進めることができず、現地調査等のスケジュールを大きく変更せざるを得なかった。2020年７月にリモート会議で各班のリーダーが集まり、調査活動の修正など工夫を行ったが、最終的には交付金を次年度へ繰り越すという措置をとった。 2020年度における各班の作業内容・成果は、つぎのとおりである。【文献班】「中尊寺文書」の電子入力によるデータベースの作成と、中尊寺経に関するこれまでの調査研究内容の確認・整理を行った。【考古班】静岡県熱海市の伊豆走湯山遺跡群出土資料の整理・分析に着手し、岩手県南部における経塚の分布調査を進めた。【石造物班】一関市図書館など資料所蔵施設を訪問し、岩手県・宮城県・福島県における中世石造物の情報を蒐集し、次年度以降における調査リストの作成を進めた。文献班と石造物班は、次年度以降に本調査を行うための予備調査、準備作業の段階にとどまった。次年度以降、新型コロナウイルス感染症の流行状況に気をつけながら、調査活動が可能なテーマ、調査対象について再検討を行し、所期の目的を達成するため共同研究を継続したい。

We did a survey at the Akita Archives and the Sensyu Bunko. we added a catalog to the digital images of the historical materials we took, and published some of them from the database. About the research results related to Satake family and the Akitahan Kazomonjyo that we worked on from individual interests planned a course for research reports. In Akita Prefecture, the results were disclosed to the local people in the course (smart college) of the Akita Prefectural Lifelong Learning Center.

The purpose of our joint research is to restructure the study of Hiraizumi through research on historical materials. According to this purpose, we approached from three aspects. The main results are as follows. Research of documents; We examined all historical materials of Hiraizumi Chuson-ji Temple in detail. And we gained a lot of new findings. We assembled historical documents related to Hiraizumi.Research of remains; We excavated some Kyozuka (a mound holding the sutra). One of them is found to be the northernmost Kyozuka in Japan. We gathered information on the ruins of the 12th century in Hokkaido and Tohoku district.Research of stonework; We conducted field researches of stonework around Hiraizumi and reported them. It supplemented the missing aspects of previous studies.

Irosetsuden, a book written in classical Chinese, is a separate volume of Kyuyo that is a comprehensive and chronicled history of Ryukyu. The two books were edited by the middle of the 18th century. This study has three parts. Part one investigated samples of used papers, old newspapers, and documents obtained from the Irosetsuden book in Iha Fuyu collection No. 14 and Miyaradunchi collection No. 26 to examine plants as materials and features of book binding. Results introduce an objective approach to study Ryukyuan historical materials. Part two collated and emended Syo-ke document No. 1251 by comparing with other texts. Part three examined Irosetsuden’s content by focusing on tales regarding the historical events or people of ancient Ryukyu. Results suggest that these historical tales include subjects of virtue or ethics expected of people by the ruler of the 18th century. This finding is important to understand this book on the context and historical significance.

The research group created a computer supported cooperative work system for transcribing medieval Japanese documents. This system has two sections. The first section is made in a Wiki format. Anyone can input data into this public section from the outside. Another section is placed under the management of the Historiographical Institute. In Kyusyu(九州) and Chugoku(中国) area, we can see Toubou(唐坊) or Toujinmachi(唐人町),the name of a place which denotes a settlement of foreigners in medieval time. By this research, first, I considered the problems of former researches. And then I carried out fieldworks in various places. I also carried out a comparative study with Okinawa(沖縄) or Southeast Asia, especially focusing onregional space composition. Moreover, I investigated how Bounotsu(坊津),well known as an international trade port, would have been evaluated, for the development of future research.

Users of this system use various information about historical documents and collaboratively work to add more information to the system. Using this system, the group revised considerable information in the Shiryohensanjo Historical Information Processing System (SHIPS). Firstly, materials and forms of administrative documents of Irobe in East Japan were examined by the microscope. According to our analysis of these documents, these were generally made from kozogami, but we found out that some documents were made from ganpi-paper. It is the characteristic forms of East Japan in the late Sengoku-period. Secondly, we examined documents in East Asia, especially that of family Sho and Uezu in Okinawa. Many of these documents were made from kozogami, but also some of that from chikushi and bashoshi. Thirdly, we inspected the traditional paper mill in Korea and China, while we investigated old documents since the 17th century in this area. It is confirmed that many of these documents were made from kozogami.

Making a first total research on the "Tono-Nanbus Documents", which include 247 pieces of "Important Cultural Properties" and are owned by Mr. NANBU KOTETU who is a descendant of the Hachinohe-Nanbus, a feudal lord (daimyo) of Northern Ou in the Middle Ages Japan, I have made up a total list (ca. 2900 documents). Through the re-examination and precise analysis of the documens of "Important Cultural Properties" and through the decipherment, transliteration and analysis of the unknown documents, I have solved many difficult problems about the history of Middle Ages Northern Ou under the Hachinohe-Nanbus.

The aim of this study is to search into aspects of the trade and circulation in Southwest Japan (South-West Islands, Kyusyu) from the 12fth century to the 14th century, the first half of middle ages, by field works of strongholds. I instituted field works five times in three years. The destinations are area of lower Manose river, east half of Osumi peninsula, Amami islands(Kagoshima prefecture), Miyakonojo City(Miyazaki prefecture), Fukuoka City, Futtsu City (Fukuoka prefecture), Nagasaki City, Shimabara peninsula, Matsuura City (Nagasaki prefecture) and Shimonoseki City (Yamaguchi prefecture) etc.. Anywhere, I was able to get valuable information from staffs of Board of Education or museum curators, for example excavation reports, tradition, historical materials. I had good results to area studies of lower Manose river(Kagoshima prefecture) and seats of Tobo, (唐坊・唐房, Chinatown in middle ages). But much assignments are remained, especially a study of the South-West Islands (Satsunan Islands, Amami Islands, Okinawa Islands). On the other hand, my interest moved to comparison with Southwest Japan and Northeastern Japan (Tohoku region, Hokkaido). At this point, I was able to give satisfactory result. As a result, I delivered six articles, and I got an opportunity of presentation abroad. I made a bibliography of trading strongholds in medieval South Kyusyu. I build a website of this study. I would like to make use of this website.

The Documents of the Yuki-Familiy of Shirakawa are the ancient documents transmitted by the Yuki-Familiy, who controlled the region of Shirakawa, the connecting point between the Tohoku- and the Kanto-region. They was considered as an important family in the Medieval Japan. The archives of the Yuki-Familiy contain more than 800 documents written by important samurai warriors of Eastern Japan. Because of a lot of severe historical events from the Warring State Period until the modern times these documents dispersed in many parts of Eastern Japan. Therefore we considered, that it would be necessary, to make a historiographical research on all of these documents on the base of the present state of research. We examined all original versions of the Documents of the Yuki-Familiy of Shirakawa at the locations, where these documents are preserved. There is only one location, Sukagawa city, where the owner did not allow the examination. During the investigation we carried out a detailed examination of all original documents, we prepared a record sheet for each document and took various kind of photographs. The locations of the investigation were Shirakawa, Tokyo, Kawasaki, Sendai, Tagajo, Tsu, Gamagori, Akita, Odate and Fukui. Beyond that, we made a research trip to the Kochi Prefectural Paper Technology Center (Ino cho, Kochi Prefecture) to deepen our knowledge of"paper", the material of ancient documents. In order to summarize the research results, we organized workshops at the Historiographical Institute of the University of Tokyo and at several locations of our investigation two times in the first year, one times in the second year and two times in the third year. November 2006 we held the "Documents of the Yuki-Familiy of Shirakawa Summit" in Shirakawa - which included a symposium and a tour of the local historical sites - mainly targeted for the local residents. Through this event we acquainted the people with the results of our research. On the base of the research results presented by the members of our research group during the workshops and the symposium, we compiled the Report on the Research Results including 13 articles of our members. It is planned to publish a book from these articles this year. After arranging the huge amount of the collected image and script data, we created a database, the Documents of the Yuki-Familiy of Shirakawa Union Catalog and prepared a DVD, which contains all these data. One extracted part of these data was published in the appendix of the Report on the Research Results. We are now working on the editing of the documents, in order to publish a historical source collection this year, the Collection of the Documents of the Yuki-Familiy of Shirakawa. For the publication of this collection we will need a subsidy after finishing the editing work.
津・湊の復原的研究に基づく中世南九州地域像の再検討

今年度は主として、九州現地における実地調査と資料収集につとめた。訪れた場所は、鹿児島県鹿児島市・垂水市・加世田市・川辺郡坊津町・日置郡金峰町・大島郡宇検村、福岡県福岡市などである。主要な目的は、中世に湊のあった地域、および中国人居留地関連地名を残す地域の景観復原に必要な基礎資料の収集であった。そのために現地のフィールドワークを実施したほか、江戸時代に描かれた古地図の調査、役場・地方法務局における地籍図(小字図)の調査を重点的に行った。また、考古学情報の収集につとめ、各自治体の埋蔵文化財担当者から遺跡現地において説明を受け、発掘調査報告書を多数入手した。これらの調査によって、景観復原作業を行う際の基礎的資料を多数得ることができた。また、昨年度たてた、唐坊(当房・唐房)という地名を残す場所は中世前期の宋人居留地であったという仮説の裏付けを一層確実にすることもできた。調査時には、ビデオ撮影を行っており、それを編集の上、上映して講義などで活用した。これらの成果は、現在、論文にまとめつつある。また、中世国家の西(南)の境界であった南九州地域を視野に入れつつ、東(北)の境界地域であった東北地方についての論考を公表した。一方、地域へ研究成果を還元すべく、金峰町町報に2000年8月〜2001年1月のあいだ6回にわたり、「万之瀬川から見える日本・東アジア」という題の連載を行った。

本研究は、東アジア世界との比較の中で、室町時代の陰陽道について考えてみようとしたものである。室町時代の陰陽道については、まず義満期について検討した。その結果、永和年間(1375〜79)を画期として陰陽道重視政策がとられるようになったことが明確になり、義満政権の祈祷体制が、永和年間以前、永和年間〜応永七年(1400)、応永七年〜義満の死まで、と三段階をへて確立してきたことが判明した。また、義満に重用された陰陽師・安倍有世の詳細な事績、義満の陰陽道編成施策についても明らかにすることができた。(「安倍有世論」として発表。) ついで義持期についても検討を加え、次の点で知見を得た。第一に、義持政権は、反義満的政策をとったといわれており、たしかに陰陽師の活動も義満期より不活発となるが、陰陽家の家格が維持されている面などをみれば単純に陰陽道軽視策がとられたとはいえないこと、第二に、義持に仕えた陰陽師を検討すると、義満期に重用された系統は冷遇された徴証があり、この点では反義満的傾向が見られること、以上である。(「義持政権期の陰陽道」『鹿児島中世史研究会報』50に発表予定。) これらの検討により、従来よりも一層詳細に室町政権の陰陽道政策が明らかになったものと考えられる。今後は、義教政権以後についても分析を進める所存である。一方、東アジア世界との比較において日本の陰陽道を考えるという点については、文献リストの作成という段階に留まった。研究の乏しい分野であり、今後、基礎的作業にかなりの時間を費やさねばならないであろう。
