    <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>The rotation of polarization at 90-degree domain walls in tetragonal BaTiO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> was directly observed by the STEM-CBED method, which combines scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and convergent-beam electron diffraction (CBED). The CBED patterns in the domain wall region exhibit continuous changes in intensity distribution within discs and specific features corresponding to the direction of the rotation of polarization. Simulations were performed using hypothetical superstructures created by continuously connecting Ti displacement with a 90-degree rotation and showed good qualitative agreement with the experimental patterns. The quantitative evaluation of the mirror symmetries existing in the tetragonal structure in bulk form revealed the width of the domain wall is approximately 9 nm. While distorted regions with slightly broken symmetry in CBED disks were found to extend further on both sides of the domain wall region in 6-7 nm. This finding can explain the discrepancy in the domain wall widths reported in previous studies.</jats:p>

    <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>How particular bonds form in quantum materials has been a long-standing puzzle. Two key concepts dealing with charge degrees of freedom are dimerization (forming metal-metal bonds) and charge ordering. Since the 1930s, these two concepts have been frequently invoked to explain numerous exciting quantum materials, typically insulators. Here we report dimerization and charge ordering within the dimers coexisting in metallic NaRu<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>. By combining high-resolution x-ray diffraction studies and theoretical calculations, we demonstrate that this unique phenomenon occurs through a new type of bonding, which we call Z-type ordering. The low-temperature superstructure has strong dimerization in legs of zigzag ladders, with short dimers in legs connected by short zigzag bonds, forming Z-shape clusters: simultaneously, site-centered charge ordering also appears. Our results demonstrate the yet unknown flexibility of quantum materials with the intricate interplay among orbital, charge, and lattice degrees of freedom.</jats:p>

    <jats:p>A local structure analysis method based on convergent-beam electron diffraction (CBED) has been used for refining isotropic atomic displacement parameters and five low-order structure factors with sin θ/λ ≤ 0.28 Å<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup> of potassium tantalate (KTaO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>). Comparison between structure factors determined from CBED patterns taken at the zone-axis (ZA) and Bragg-excited conditions is made in order to discuss their precision and sensitivities. Bragg-excited CBED patterns showed higher precision in the refinement of structure factors than ZA patterns. Consistency between higher precision and sensitivity of the Bragg-excited CBED patterns has been found only for structure factors of the outer zeroth-order Laue-zone reflections with larger reciprocal-lattice vectors. Correlation coefficients among the refined structure factors in the refinement of Bragg-excited patterns are smaller than those of the ZA ones. Such smaller correlation coefficients lead to higher precision in the refinement of structure factors.</jats:p>

    <title>Abstract</title> Degradation of crystalline quality of TEM specimens of silicon prepared with different conditions have been examined using convergent-beam electron diffraction (CBED). Those specimens are prepared using focused-ion-beam (FIB) with different accelerating voltages, Ar-ion milling, and crushing method. Symmetry breaking of CBED patterns was evaluated quantitatively by symmetry breaking index S, which has been already reported. It is clarified that the degradation and inhomogeneity of FIB specimen was suppressed by decreasing the accelerating voltages of FIB fabrication at the final process.

    <title>Abstract</title> The accuracy of electron density distribution analysis using large-angle convergent-beam electron diffraction (LACBED) patterns is evaluated for different convergence angles. An orbital ordered state of FeCr2O4 is used as an example of the analysis. Ideal orbital-ordered and non-ordered states are simulated by using orbital scattering factors. LACBED patterns calculated for the orbital-ordered state were used as hypothetical experimental data sets. Electron density distribution of the Fe 3d orbitals has been successfully reconstructed with a higher accuracy from LACBED patterns with convergence angles larger than 15.2 mrad, which is 4 times as large as that for conventional convergent-beam electron diffraction patterns. Excitation of particular Bloch waves with the aid of LACBED patterns has a key role in the accurate analysis of electron density distributions.

    High-angle annular dark-field (HAADF) images of a melt-quenched Al70Ni15Fe15 decagonal quasicrystal have been taken using a scanning transmission electron microscope for the first time.We have found that the alloy is composed of 2-nm-diameter atom clusters with fivefold symmetry.We have also observed an inversion domain structure. A structural model has been constructed on the basis of the HAADF images and the fivefold cluster of the monoclinic τ2-Al13Co4 approximant model [Saitoh et al. : J. Electron Microsc. 48 (1999) 105]. Antiphase shifts at domain boundaries have been observed directly for the first time.The present observation has verified the results of high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM) and the dark-field imaging technique obtained by Tsuda et al. [Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. 32 (1993) 129].

    A method to refine crystal structural parameters and charge density distribution using convergent-beam electron diffraction is described, which is based on the least-squares fitting between full dynamical calculations and energy-filtered intensities of two-dimensional CBED patterns. A function of parallel computation using a computer cluster was implemented to extend the applications of the method. Crystal structural parameters of the intermediate phase of hexagonal barium titanate (h-BaTiO3) was refined by the method.

    In order to develop a 3-dimensional local structure analysis method using an electron nano-probe, a new system was developed to map energy-filtered convergent-beam electron diffraction (CBED) data with a high speed and a high angular resolution. Deep neural network was successfully applied for accelerating dynamical diffraction intensity calculations of large-angle CBED (LACBED) patterns. For obtaining structural information in depth-direction, the scattering matrix method was implemented in our dynamical diffraction simulation code MBFIT for describing distribution of local structures in the electron beam direction. This newly developed analysis method was applied to local crystal structure analysis of a ferroelectric twin boundary in CaTiO3, visualization of ferroaxial domains in NiTiO3, electrostatic potential and electron density analysis of quantum paraelectric phase of KTaO3, local structure analysis of relaxor-like nano-domains in BaTiO3 under applying electric field.

    Electron incoherent channeling techniques based on the combined use of electron spectroscopy and electron channeling effect, have been applied to local structure analysis of dopant atom sites in BaTiO3 ferroelectrics. Off-centering of dopant Ca atoms at Ba sites was revealed from characteristic X-ray incoherent channeling patterns obtained from a single ferroelectric domain area for the first time.

    A new method has been developed for investigating two-dimensional distributions of nanometer-scale local structures, with the combined use of scanning transmission electron microscopy and convergent-beam electron diffraction (STEM-CBED). The STEM-CBED system was constructed on an energy-filter transmission electron microscopy JEM-2010FEF. The method was applied to perovskite-type ferroelectrics such as barium titanate (BaTiO3), nanometer scale local structures were investigated below and above their ferroelectric phase transitions.     We have attempted to develop a method using the coherent CBED technique, which observes interference fringes appearing in overlapping areas of adjacent CBED disks. We performed coherent CBED experiments to observe ferroelectric domain boundaries of hexagonal YMnO3, using a TEM equipped with a cold-type field emission electron gun, a spherical aberration corrector and an Omega-type energy-filter. Phase differences due to the structure of the domain boundary have been first observed in the interference fringes. A software to simulate coherent CBED patterns at domain boundaries has been developed on the basis of the multiple scattering (dynamical diffraction) theory. Applications of the CBED method to phase transition materials were also conducted.

    Base on transmission electron microscopy technique, high-quality specimen areas were examined by using CBED, EELS and SXES methods. Characteristic electronic states of boron nano-belt, zeolite-templated carbon, polymerized C_<60>, Li-doped α-rhombohedral boron and MgB_4 were revealed. Improvements of anisotropic valence charge density analyses by CBED and SXES, and optical properties of nano-partucles by EELS were also done.

    An electrostatic potential analysis method using convergent-beam electron diffraction has been successfully developed, which enables us to determine electrostatic potential distribution from a nanometer-scale specimen area. Using this method, ferroelectric polarizations of ferroelectric materials such as LiNbO3 were observed through electrostatic potential. The method was also applied to visualization of orbital ordered states of 3d electrons in strongly-correlated electron systems.

    The present research project aimed to develop a method to quantitatively analyze the atomic structure and distribution of point defects and the local lattice strain of their surrounding areas in a nanometer-scale spatial resolution. Impurity-doped Si was used as a test specimen containing point defects, in which anomalous intensity increase was found in rocking curves of low-order reflections of convergent-beam electron diffraction (CBED) patterns. In order to clarify the relationship between the anomalous intensity and the strain due to point defects, the intensities of the anomalous rocking curves were measured from specimens with various doping amounts using an energy-filter transmission electron microscope. The specimen preparation method not to cause the anomalous intensity was established. It was also found that the anomalous intensity increase can be caused by not only doped impurity atoms but also the atoms and small clusters induced by ion implantation. Simulation programs for the rocking curves was developed based on the statistical-dynamical diffraction theory, the multi-slice method and the Howie-Whelan's method. Simulations of rocking curves were performed using various strain distribution models and were compared with the experimental data. As a result, we have demonstrated that the anomalous CBED rocking curves can be explained by a strain-relaxation model with lattice bending. This implies that the CBED rocking curves of the low-order reflections can be successfully used for the determination of local strain distributions with a nanometer-scale spatial resolution. Local lattice strains of semiconductor devices have been so far examined using higher-order Laue zone (HOLZ) line patterns of CBED. The present method enables us to analyze such highly strained areas as HOLZ lines are blurred or unclear, to which the HOLZ line method cannot be applied.

  11. DF004法によるデバイス中ドープ元素の定量解析法の開発

    1.Pドープをおこなった試料にDF004法を適用してドープ領域の電子顕微鏡観察をおこなった。その結果、Asドープ試料の像強度の分布が、SIMSで測定したドープP元素の分布と極めてよく一致することが分かった。さらに、表面から同じ深さでも場所により像強度が異なることから、2次元的なドープ濃度の不均を可視化することも可能であることが明らかになった。 2.ASドープ濃度を1桁小さくした試料(最高濃度領域で0.1at.%)からFIBで作製した電子顕微鏡用試料の測定をおこなって像強度とSIMSデータを比較したところ、像強度がドープ濃度に比例して小さくならない現象が明らかになった。この事実は、ドープ元素以外に試料結晶の不完全性を生じさせる原因があることを示している。従来の重元素を保護膜に用いたFIB加工、軽元素を保護膜に用いたFIB加工、機械研磨+イオンミリングの試料作成法を用い、ドープ試料、ノンドープ試料の実験試料を作製してDF004の実験を行った。その結果、重元素を保護膜に用いたFIB加工では、保護膜をつける過程で試料にダメージが入り、その結果としてDF004の電子顕微鏡像にコントラストを生じることが分かった。したがって、FIB加工して試料作製する場合は、保護膜として軽元素を用いる必要があることが明らかとなった。 3.結晶の乱れを考慮したX線用の統計動力学理論を電子線に適応することで、実験で観測されているロッキングカーブの変化(強度増大と非対称性)が再現できることが分かった。しかし、乱れの小さい低濃度ドープ領域には適用できるものの、ドープ濃度が1at.%になると実験を再現できないことも明らかになった。

    A new grating for a grazing incidence flat-field spectrograph was designed from 400eV to 1200eV with a groove density of 2400 lines/mm. The grating has a two times larger energy dispersion than that of a commercial grating. A new spectrometer chamber was designed to used not only for the new grating but also for commercial gratings. As energy region of 60-1200 eV is accessible by using the new and commercial gratings. X-ray reflection mirrors were designed to improve X-ray intensity to go into the grating. The mirrors have elliptical curvatures. The material for the mirrors was tungsten of about 100 nm thickness, which was formed on a cleaved natural mica crystal. The length and the width of the mirror were 135 mm and about 10 mm, respectively. Two mirrors were put between the grating and the specimen. Spectral intensity was improved by four times compared with those obtained without the mirror. The effective collection angle 2.8x10^<-3>sr. The developed soft-X-ray spectrometer attached to a transmission electron microscope (TEM) of JEM-2000FX. Energy dispersions per CCD detector channel (13.5 μm) of this spectrometer are about 0.1eV for Si L-emission (〜100eV), 0.2eV for B K-emission (〜180eV) and 0.7eV for Cu L-emission (〜930 eV). Cu L-emission spectra were obtained with a probe current of 10 nA at an acquisition time of 20 min. A VLS grating with line density of 24001/mm was used. The spectra clearly showed four L-emission peaks of L_α(M_y(3d)→L_<III>(2p)), L_β(M_<IV>(3d)→L_<II>(2p)), L_1(M_I(3s)→L_<III>(2p)) and Lη(M_I(3s)→L_<II>(2p)). The density of states of boron nano-belts and bundles of carbon nanotubes were obtained by using the X-ray emission spectroscopy microscope.

    We have developed a high energy-resolution soft-X-ray spectrometer for a transmission electron microscope to obtain the information of the density of states(DOS)of the valence band (occupied states) from identified small specimen areas The spectrometer was composed of varied-line-spacing(VLS)gratings and a CCD detector. An energy range from 60eV to 1200eV was accessible by using two VLS gratings, which have line densities of 1200 and 2400 lines/mm. the size of the CCD detector was 27.6x27.6mm2,which corresponds to a collection angle of 6.5x10.^<-4>sr. By introducing X-ray reflection flat mirrors, spectral intensity was improved by 2.2 times. Thus, the effective collection angle of the spectrometer was 1.4x10.^<-3>sr. Energy resolutions of this spectrometer for Si L-emission(〜100eV),B K-emission(〜180eV)and Cu L-emission(〜930eV)were evaluated to be 0.1,0.4 and 1.4eV, respectively.This spectrometer successfully obtained the DOS of the valence band from specified amall specimen areas of h,c,w-BN,α, βboron, Si, carbon allotropes and quasicrystals We have been designing a new VLS grating to improve the energy resolution with a help of another Grant-in-Aid for Scientific research(B). The new spectrometer will give us an energy resolution of about 0.7eV at 1000eV

    1.収束電子回折法による電子密度分布解析法について、継続して改良を加えた。これまでわれわれが独自に開発してきた解析ソフトウェア(MBFIT)に、より自由な束縛条件を導入できるようにソースコードの変更を追加した。 2.LaCrO_3の菱面体晶相について、われわれが開発してきた収束電子回折法による電子密度分布解析を適用した。前年度すでに[11-1]方向からの投影電子密度分布を得ているが、今年度は複数の入射データを複合的に解析を行うことで3次元的な変形電子密度分布を得ることに成功した。Cr原子からO原子への明瞭な電荷移動が確認された。 3.前年度から引き続いてLaMnO_3の軌道秩序相の電子密度分布解析を行った。この相では、Mn^<3+>の3d電子のうちe_g(3z^2-r^2)軌道に属する電子がMnまわりの酸素八面体のヤーンテラー歪みを伴って秩序配列することが、共鳴X線散乱等により報告されている。収束電子回折強度データを用いて価電子分布に特に敏感な低散乱角領域(sinθ/λ<0.3)の反射の結晶構造因子を精密化し、原子の球状電子密度分布を仮定した計算値から大きく値がずれる反射を見出した。この結果から変形電子密度分布を得て、Mn原子の3d電子の軌道秩序に直接対応する異方的な電子密度を観察することに世界で初めて成功した。

    1.昨年度、新たに見出したBNコーンの先端部分と底の部分から高分解能EELS測定に成功し、バルクのBNよりもコーンの底の部分ではバンドギャップエネルギーが小さくなっているが、先端部ではさらに小さくなっていることが実験的に明らかにした。この現象は、これまでのBNナノチューブの実験結果"径の小さなBNナノチューブほどバンドギャップエネルギーが小さい"と同じであると解釈できることがわかった。 2.1.のBNコーンとBNナノチューブのバンドギャップエネルギーに関する特徴は"BNシートでは、バンドギャップはブリルアンゾーン境界にあり、そこでは価電子帯はN原子の電子軌道のみからできており伝導帯はB原子の電子軌道からのみできている"というBNシート特有の電子状態の結果として解釈できることが明らかになり、カーボンシートからできているカーボンナノチューブやカーボンコーンには期待できないことが明らかになった。 3.BNシートの端が露出しているBNコーンの底部分では、伝導帯に特徴的な状態密度分布が存在することが実験的に明らかになった。DV-Xα法を用いたBNシートの電子状態計算から、特徴的な状態密度が、BNシート端に局在するエッジ状態に起因することが明らかになった。 4.半導体であるボロンの超伝導化として期待されているLiドープαボロンは大きな単結晶が得られていない。われわれの開発してきた高分解能EELS電子顕微鏡を用いることで、初めてLiドープαボロン単結晶の高分解能EELS測定に成功し、フェルミ面の存在を明らかにした。すなわち、Liドープによりα-ボロンが金属化していることを実験的に明らかにした。

    ○Al_<72>Ni_<20>Co_8, Al_<73>Ni_<22>Fe_5 decagonal quasicrystals We, using the HAADF method, revealed that the atom cluster of an Al_<72>Ni_<20>Co_8 decagonal quasicrystal, which had been believed to be of tenfold rotation symmetry, is not of tenfold but of mirror symmetry for the first time, Furthermore, we found that Al_<72>Ni_<20>Co_8 is composed of basic atom clusters, which exist in a basic quasicrystalline approximant of monoclinic Al_<13>Fe_4. On the basis of the approximant structure, a new structural model of Al_<72>Ni_<20>Co_8 was constructed. It was also found using the HAADF method that an Al_<73>Ni_<22>Fe_5 decagonal quasicrystal has a similar structure to that of Al_<72>Ni_<20>Co_8. ○Al-Ni-Fe non-centrosymmetric decagonal quasicrystal We previously found, by conventional high-resolution electron microscopy, that an Al_<70>Ni_<15>Fe_<15> quasicrystal is formed by an atom cluster with fivefold rotation symmetry. We applied the HAADF method to the quasicrystal for the first time, and verified that the atom cluster is truly of fivefold symmetry. Furthermore, a structural model was constructed on the basis of the HAADF image and an approximant structure. The direct observation of an antiphase shift at an inversion domain boundary, which had not been carried out, was successfully performed by the HAADF method. ○Al-Fe and Al-Co crystalline approximants From the HAADF observations of an Al_<13>Fe_4 crystalline approximant, whose structure was already solved, it was confirmed that the HAADF images exhibit transition-metal-atom positions selectively. We found that HAADF images of a O^2-inflated Al_<13>Co_4 approximant show a similar image of the 2nm-diameter atom-clusters of decagonal quasicrystals. On the basis of the HAADF images and the structure of Al_<13>Fe_4, a structural model of O^2-inflated Al_<13>Co_4 approximant was constructed. Furthermore, by the comparison between the decagonal quasicrystal and its approximant structures, a formation model of decagonal quasicrystals from the O^2-inflated Al_<13>Co_4 was proposed.

    収束電子回折法を用いて、超巨大磁気抵抗効果を示すペロブスカイト型Mn酸化物La_<1-X>Sr_XMnO_3系を調べた。前年度のx=0.12の試料に加え、本年度はxを系統的に変化させて局所構造を調べ、物性との関連について調べた。その結果、x=0.11以上の領域ではx=0.12と同じくorthorhombicの室温以上の相、monoclinicの中間相、triclinicの2x4x4倍の超格子構造を伴う低温相という複雑な相転移を起こすことがわかった。また、中間相では数nm程度の構造揺らぎが存在することを見出した。さらに、x=0.10以下の領域では約340K以上の高温相からそれ以下での室温相への相転移のみが見られ、x=0.11以上とは異なる振る舞いを示した。この室温相ではx=0.11以上と同様の数nmオーダーの構造揺らぎが存在することも初めて見出した。共鳴X線散乱の実験から、x=0.11以上の試料では低温相でのみ軌道秩序が存在し、x=0.10以下では室温相で軌道秩序が存在することが報告されており、今後この軌道秩序とnmオーダーの構造揺らぎとの関係についてより詳細に調べることはきわめて興味深い。 燃料電池のインターコネクタ材料であるペロブスカイト型酸化物LaCrO_3の局所構造解析を行った。エネルギーフィルター電子顕微鏡JEM-2010FEFを用いて数nm程度の局所領域から撮影した収束電子回折図形を、動力学回折理論による計算強度と非線型最小二乗法を用いてフィッティングすることにより、原子位置および異方性温度因子、さらには低次結晶構造因子を精密化することに成功した。熱振動の異方的る振る舞いおよび電荷移動による結晶ポテンシャルの微小な変化を明瞭にとらえることができた。 α'-NaV_2O_5の構造相転移を収束電子回折法で調べ、室温における対称性がPmmnであり、この物質の構造相転移がスピン・パイエルス転移ではないことを決定付けた。さらに、相転移温度直上で現れる散漫散乱、相転移点以下でのきわめて弱い超格子反射、室温付近からあらわれるきわめて弱い散漫散乱を電子回折でとらえることに初めて成功し、この物資の相転移機構について新たな知見を与えた。

    It has been established that convergent-beam electron diffraction (CBED) is quite an effective method for determining crystal point groups and space groups. CBED allows the unique identification of all the 32 point groups and 200 space groups among 230 space groups. However, the other 30 space groups have still remained to be indistinguishable. In the present research, we have newly applied the coherent CBED method to distinguish the remaining space groups. The coherent CBED technique observes interference fringes appearing in the overlapping regions of CBED disks using an high coherency electron source (i.e., field-emission gun), and directly provides phase information of crystal structures. We have applied the method to two pairs of space groups (I23, I2_13) and (I222, I2_12_12_1), which belong to indistinguishable sets because of their same kinematical extinction and no dynamical extinction. We have first discovered that the coherent CBED method can elucidate site symmetries of crystals with respect to the electron prove position. We have successfully proved that coherent CBED can distinguish the space groups of (I23, I2_13) and (I222, I2_12_12_1) through investigating their site symmetries in their unit cells. The present research was carried out in close cooperation with Dr.P.Goodman (University of Melbourne, Australia) and Dr.C.J.Rossouw (CSIRO, Australia).

    In materials science at the present time, how to control nm-scale structures of materials is the most important research theme. Crystal structure analysis in nm-scale is indispensable to solve the question. The aim of the present research is to develop an accurate crystalstructure refinement method for nm-diameter specimen areas using convergent-beam electron diffraction (CBED), and to apply using method to the determination of detailed structures of real quasicrystals. To rearize the method, a new electron microscope equipped with a field-emission gun, an omega type filter to remove inelastically scattered electrons, an imaging plate and a CCD electron detection system was developed. This microscope took an epoch-making step forward to allow remote computer control and simultaneous observation of electron microscope images at different places using an internet system. We developed a structure refinement software based fully upon the dynamical theory of electron diffraction, which makes possible two dimensional fitting of CBED patterns. We performed a structure refinement of a noncentrosymmetric material CdS.We determined the positional parameter of sulfur u to be 0.378 and two Debye-Waller factors of cadmium and sulfur B(Cd) and B(S) respectively to be 1.35 and 1.14. These values well agree with X-ray values of u=0.3771, B(Cd)=1.4 and B(S)=1.1. The success of the structure refinement of Cd S proved that the accurate structure refinement by CBED is practically useful for materials science. We discovered new structural features of decagonal quasicrystals which correct the results already accepted. That is, the 2nm-cluster, which was considered to be a basic unit of the decagonal quasicrystal, can be decomposed into two smaller clusters of about a 0.4nm diameter. These two clasters are very similar to those existing in the approximant crystal. This provided the guiding principle that the quasicrystal can be considered on the basis of the crystal structure of the approximant. We are in the course of structure analysis by applying the high-dimensional crystallography.

    透過型電子エネルギー損失分光(EELS)による高温超伝導体の電子構造の研究はドイツのカールスルーエ大学のFinkらによってなされてきた。かれらは、EELSスペクトルの1.2eV付近にフリーキァリアーに由来するプラズモンピークが現れ、フリーキャリアーの有効質量はm^*/m〜1であると報告している。しかし、この有効質量の値は角度分解型光電子分光から求められた値5〜10と比べてかなり小さく疑問である。また、光の反射率の実験では、約1eVに反射率の低下が観察されており、プラズマエッジと同定されている。しかし、プラズマエッジのエネルギーがキャリアーのドーピング量に依存しないという実験結果については疑問がのこる。われわれは、1eV付近のプラズモンの存在の有無とその原因について、微小領域の同定機能を備えた透過型EELS装置を用いてBi系2201相,2212相,2223相およびTl系2201相の常伝導状態でのEELSスペクトルを調べた。 われわれの実験では、1eV付近にプラズモンの励起に対応するピークは観察されなかった。さらに、Bi-2212相についてまず電子回折図形で単結晶であることを確認した400nmφの領域から酸素1s電子の励起スペクトルをとり、528〜529eVにO2pホールの存在を確認した。同じ単結晶領域の100nmφの領域から得た0〜10eVのEELSスペクトルでは約1.2eVでプラズモンに対応するピークは全く見られなかった。Bi-2212相のキャリアーの密度は〜3×10^<21>cm^<-3>と報告されている。この密度に対応する自由電子近似でのプラズモンエネルギーは約2eVとなる。実際の結晶でのフリーキャリアーによるプラズモンエネルギーはキャリアーの有効質量の(m^*/m)^<-1/2>に比例し、誘電率のε_1^<-1/2>に比例する。キャリアーのm^*/mの値は角度分解型光電子分光から5〜10という値が報告されている。この値とキャリアー密度を用いてプラズモンエネルギーを計算すると0.6〜0.9eVとなる。Finkの得たε_1〜4.5を用いて誘電率の影響を考慮するとさらに低エネルギー0.3〜0.4eVへシフトし、1eV付近にプラズモンピークは観察されないことが予想される。われわれのEELSスペクトルから0.6〜0.9eV領域での誘電率を求めるとε_1〜9という値を得た。この誘電率を考慮すると、プラズモンエネルギーは0.2〜0.3eVとなり、今回の実験でプラズモンピークは観察されないことが理解できる。また、光の反射率の低下の原因は、約2eVにあるバンド間遷移であろうと考えられる。

  21. コヒーレント収束電子回折による結晶構造因子の位相決定法の開発

    イメージングプレート用カメラを試作し、そのテストを行った。動作は良好である。イメージングプレートはフィルムに比べて高感度なので露出時間が短くて済み、電気的、機械的ドリフトの影響を小さくすることができた。またコンピューターにディジタル画像として回折図形をとりこむことができるので、画像処理が容易に行えるようになり、必要な情報を有効に取り出すことができるようになった。コヒーレントビームによる予備的干渉実験を行った。鏡映面、映進面の対称性を干渉縞として検出することに成功した。すなわち、鏡映面のないSr_2Nb_2O_7では干渉縞は非対称に現れ、鏡映面のあるSr_2Ta_2O_7では干渉縞が対称に現れることを確認した。映進面のあるFeS_2では運動学的に消滅する反射内に反位相ずれた縞を観察することに成功した。どのくらい小さな面間隔からの干渉縞を得ることができるかが今度の応用のために大きな課題である。われわれは現在、世界最高の2.7A干渉縞の観察に成功した。また1次元的な干渉縞ばかりでなく2次元的な干渉縞を得ることにも成功した。さらに、回折の動力学的理論に基づくシュミレーションによって干渉縞の再現と動力学的効果の検出に成功した。これらの成果は 1)Journal Electron Microscopyと2)Ultramicroscopyに投稿した。1994年7月パリで開催される国際電子顕微鏡学会で成果を報告するため講演を申し込んだ。日本電子顕微鏡学会誌から"コヒーレント収束電子回折法"の執筆を依頼された。

    今年度の研究成果は次の通りである。 1.液体急冷法により作成したAl-Cu-Co系およびAl-Co系デカゴナル相準結晶が中心対称を持たない準結晶であることを、今回新たに見いだした。これは以前われわれの見いだしたAl-Ni-Fe系準結晶に続いて2列目であり、特にAl-Co系準結晶は2元合金として初めての非中心対称準結晶である。CuとCoの組成を変えて調べた結果この相が広い範囲で存在することを見いだし、収束電子回折法を用いて超空間郡を決定した。また、高分解能電子顕微鏡法による観察からこの系では2種類の異なる原子クラスターが存在すること、およびこの2つのクラスターの存在比がCuとCoの組成によって異なるという興味深い現象を見いだした。これらの結果を1993年夏に行われた三つの国際会議(8th Int.Conf. on Rapidly Quenched and Metastable Materials,Sendai(Japan);IUCrXVICongress,Beijin(China);Symposium on Quasicrystals andImperfectly Ordered Crystals,Chendge(China))で発表した。 2.デカゴナル相準結晶の構造は5次元周期構造の3次元断面として記述できる(断面法)。断面法により準結晶の3次元構造を得るプログラムを独自に作成した。これを用いてAl-Ni-Fe系およびAl-Cu-Co系非中心対称準結晶に対する構造モデルを作成した。これをもとに高分解能像のマルチスライス法によるシミュレーションを行い、実験で得た高分解能電子顕微鏡と比較し、比較的よい一致を得た。またこのシミュレーションを通して、加速電圧200kVでは非中心対称性の明瞭な像が得られるのに対し、加速電圧300kV,400kVでは非中心対称性の不明瞭な像しか得られないことを見いだした。これは結像に寄与する反射の違いによる。さらに今後この構造モデルについて検討、改良を加える。
