    This study investigates the upper-limit ages of the Tsurugidake Landslides, which resulted from the collapse of a lava dome on the northern foot of Kurikoma Volcano, Tohoku Region, Japan. Age constraints were determined using tephrochronology and radiocarbon （14C） date of wetland and aeolian deposits covering the landslide masses. The results indicate that the Tsurugidake Landslides A, B, and C were formed before 5.3, 3.5 and 1.0 cal ka （corresponding to AD915; Age of To-a tephra）, respectively. The Tsurugidake Lava Dome, formed by the latest magma eruption of Kurikoma Volcano in 8.1 – 6.4 cal ka, collapsed within ～2,800 years after its emplacement.

    Landscapes are shaped by tectonic, climatic, and surface processes over geological timescales, but we rarely witness the events of marked landscape change. The moment magnitude 7.5 Noto Peninsula earthquake in central Japan was caused by a large thrust faulting, up to nearly 10 meters of slip, that expanded more than 150 kilometers along the fault zone. The deformation field reconstructed from satellite data and field surveys reveals up to 4.4 meters of uplift and associated coastal advance along the entire northern coast of the peninsula, meter-scale systematic movement of the mountain slopes consistent with slip on flexural faults, and activation of secondary inland faults, suggesting synchronized ruptures. The findings show excellent consistency between the coseismic deformation and geomorphic features and provide a vivid example of the role of a major earthquake in landscape formation.

    <p> Based on a sedimentological analysis and tephrochronology, development of the Ara River terrace is reconstructed focusing on the Nagatoro Gorge between the Chichibu Basin and the Arakawa Fan. Terrace treads along the Nagatoro Gorge can be classified into Oy1, Oy2 and Hg. Oy1 comprises eroded remnants of the fill terrace probably formed in Marine oxygen Isotope Stage (MIS) 6. Oy2 and Hg are toe-cut terraces formed by tributaries from MIS 3 to MIS 2 and early Holocene, respectively. The possible range of the elevation of the Ara River floodplain in the Nagatoro Gorge during MIS 3 and MIS 2 is reconstructed by extending the cross-sectional profiles of Oy2 terrace treads. The longitudinal profile of Ara River in the Nagatoro Gorge during MIS 3 and MIS 2 continues to that of paired terraces formed in the last glacial period: Kagemori Terrace in the Chichibu Basin and Miizugahara-1 Terrace in the Arakawa Fan. The profile of the Ohnohara Terrace of the Chichibu Basin and the Nagatoro Gorge continues to that of the Hanazono Terrace of the Arakawa Fan. As a result of continued lateral erosion of the Ara River during the two periods, wide floodplains formed throughout the three segments of the Chichibu Basin, the Nagatoro Gorge and the Arakawa Fan in the last glacial period and the early Holocene. During these periods, most sediments passed through the Nagatoro Gorge and were discharged onto the Kanto Plain. The river began to incise in the Holocene throughout all three segments.</p>

    This study discuss the changes of tributary slopes and sediment supply for the trunk river based on the sedimentological analysis for the fluvial terrace deposits and morphological analysis for the terrace treads and tributary drainage basins in the upper Ara River, central Japan. In the Chichibu Basin, the slopes of the some tributaries in the last glacial period are lower than those of the present, less than 8 percent. This fact indicates the sediment supply by debris flow from tributaries to the Ara River was more inactive in the last glacial period than in interglacial periods.

    Several fluvial terraces are distributed in the upstream area of the Tama River, central Japan. The previous studies interpreted the Aoyagi terrace as the fill-top terrace formed during the Last Glacial, and pointed out that the valley filling had continued until MIS4. In this study, heights of the mainstream deposits were measured and the long-profile of the mainstream was reconstructed. Besides, the Hk-TP and KMP tephras were found out from the deposits of the tributaries covering the mainstream deposits. Then, it is suggested that the aggradation of the mainstream finished before MIS4, and that tributaries had supplied sediments until MIS3.

    本研究では，段丘地形発達史の復元と，地理情報システム（GIS）ソフトを用いた数値地形解析を組み合わせ，最終間氷期以降の東北～中部日本の河川上流域における，支流から本流への土砂供給様式の変化を数千～数万年スケールで復元し，支流の土砂供給様式の変化過程と支流集水域の地形・地質条件の関係を検討することを目的としている．本研究が対象とする段丘地形や段丘堆積物を編年する上では，段丘地形を覆う，もしくは段丘堆積物に挟まる火山灰（テフラ）層の対比・同定が重要となる．本研究で対象とする堆積物中に挟まれるテフラ層は複数枚あり，詳細な編年のためには，これらを識別することが必要不可欠である．このことから，後期更新世に御岳火山を給源として噴出したテフラの模式試料を入手して，顕微鏡観察や室内分析による鉱物組成や屈折率，主成分化学組成の測定を進めた．段丘堆積物から見いだされた未知テフラ試料は，先行研究および上記の模式試料の分析結果を参考に対比を試み，段丘堆積物の編年を進めていく予定である．また，関東および東北地方の河川流域を対象として，合流点付近における支流性の地形・堆積物の形成に関係していると考えられる，支流集水域の地形解析を実施し，集水域起伏や流域面積などを算出した．今後，調査成果を合流点付近における地形・地質断面図に整理するとともに，支流集水域の解析結果と組み合わせて検討し，支流集水域の地形・地質条件と合流点付近の段丘発達史の関係について検討する予定である．

    2021年度は、基礎研究として河川の流下方向と礫種毎による円磨度の変化を明らかにし、応用研究として洪水・津波堆積物の円磨度に基づく砕屑物の運搬過程の推定を行った。基礎研究として行った河川は、相模川、四万十川、常願寺川、天竜川である。これらの結果から得られた河川の流下方向における円磨度の傾向としては、最上流部で急激に円磨が進み、ほとんどの河川区間では円磨度の傾向は漸増傾向を示す。一方、河口部や近くの海岸では、円磨度が増加し、明らかに河川とは異なる傾向を示す。これは河川と海岸の礫の生成・供給過程と円磨過程の違いを反映していると考えられる。また、礫種毎に円磨度が異なることもわかった。いずれの分析結果からも、同一地点の試料では、粒径が大きくなるほど円磨度が大きくなる傾向が得られた。 さらに、福徳岡ノ場2021年噴火が発生し、大量の軽石粒子が海洋へ放出されたため、それらを対象にした円磨度変化も明らかにした。その結果、軽石は海洋へ放出されてから急速に円磨度が増加し、その後は大きく変化しないことがわかった。また、同時期に漂着した軽石でも海岸によって円磨度が若干異なることから、漂着した海岸の状態によっても砕屑物形状に違いが現れることが示唆される。 応用研究の洪水・津波堆積物では、いずれも礫を対象に円磨度計測を行い、給源粒子の混合比を明らかにした。その結果、津波堆積物に関しては、海岸を構成する礫と調査地点と海岸の間の丘陵にある礫が津波堆積物の中に含まれていることがわかり、過去の津波の経路を復元することができた。洪水堆積物に関しては、河床礫と破堤堆積物を比較して、破堤堆積物中には河床を起源とする礫とそれ以外の堤防を構成する礫（人工物も含む）が含まれることが明らかとなった。いずれの研究においても、礫の円磨度情報がイベント堆積物の運搬経路や起源を知る上で有用であることがわかってきた。
