    研究代表者は、アラケロフ幾何との関連の中で、代数多様体の退化とそれによる算術的不変量への影響について興味を持っている。曲線に対するボゴモロフ予想という、曲線上の高さの小さい点が少ないという予想があったが、その研究では曲線に付随した種々の算術的不変量が非常に重要な役割を果たしていた。その不変量には、代数曲線の退化の情報が大きく寄与する。しかしながら、その情報の寄与の仕方が複雑でどのような仕組みで寄与するのかを明確に述べるのは難しい。 本研究では、退化の情報を、退化する素点における非アルキメデス幾何的対象、すなわち、ベルコビッチ解析空間やトロピカル多様体の幾何的情報として解釈することを目標にしている。その有力な方法として、ハイブリッド空間による記述が期待されている。 本年度は、ハイブリッド空間を用いた算術的不変量の解釈に向けた準備として、主に二つの側面で研究を進めた。一つは、ハイブリッド空間に詳しい専門家との議論および情報交換である。2024年1月に研究代表者が世話人の一人として関わった "Workshop on nonarchimedean geometry and related fields" は、そのための重要な機会であり、多角的視点からハイブリッド空間を観察することができた。 もう一つは、トロピカル多様体の研究である。トロピカル多様体はある種のハイブリッド空間の構成要素であり、本研究の主要な対象でもある。本年度は、主にトロピカルアーベル多様体とその直線束について研究を進めた。特に、忠実埋め込みについては一定の成果が得られ、論文としてまとめている最中である。

    The researcher first investigated finding sufficiently smooth tropicalizations of modular curves, which have a vast amount of applications in number theory. He used the associated ramified coverings of the projective line to find these, leading to the first general formulas for the tropical invariants of modular curves. These include their toric ranks and Tamagawa numbers (arXiv:2403.09995, 53 pages). <BR> The researcher also investigated the homotopy type of smooth tropicalizations in order to understand their cohomology groups from a number-theoretic perspective. The researcher made important steps towards providing coverings of these spaces by Eilenberg-Maclane polyhedral domains. We expect these to give rise to explicit descriptions of the homotopy type in terms of glued braid groups.

    アラケロフ幾何における基本的アイデアは，代数体上の対象に対し，そのアルキメデス的素点における複素解析空間上の対象に計量を入れて考えることにより「コンパクト化」する点にある．そして，必然的に，微分幾何的・函数解析的手法を使って算術幾何を展開することになる．アルキメデス的素点には複素解析空間が付随しているという視点を非アルキメデス的素点上に敷衍すると，そこにはベルコビッチ空間が付随している．これにより，アラケロフ幾何においてベルコビッチ空間の幾何を研究することは重要な位置を占める．そこで，本研究課題においては，このベルコビッチ空間の幾何的研究が重要となる． ベルコビッチ空間の幾何的側面の研究を行うには，トロピカル幾何の研究が重要となる．トロピカル多様体とは，空間としては多面体的複体の構造をもった位相空間で，トロピカル化とはベルコビッチ空間の「無限に繁茂した」構造を有限の多面体的複体構造で近似するものと考えられているためでさる． 当該年度において，2018年度に引き続き，トーリック多様体のトロピカル化，すなわちトロピカルトーリック多様体とその因子の研究をさらに進展させた．さらに，一般のトロピカル多様体の因子の概念の導入とその基本性質の研究を進めた． 当該年度の研究においてとくに強調すべき点は，トロピカル多様体をその底空間のみに着目するのではなく，代数幾何的視点から「構造」に注目した点である．先行研究として，何等かの意味での「トロピカル多様体」に「構造層」を乗せたものは考えられてはいるが，それらは代数幾何的視点からは不十分な点もある．本研究で，より適切と思われる「構造層」を導入し，「トロピカル代数多様体」の再基礎づけを行っている．それによって，よりシステマティックにトロピカル幾何の理論を整備できることが期待される．

    There are two main research results. One concerns the geometric Bogomolov conjecture, and the other concerns tropicalizations of Berkovich spaces. The geometric Bogomolov conjecture is a conjecture about the distribution of small arithmetic complexity among common zeros of several polynomials and was proposed by Bogomolov around 1980. As research results, I proved important result on this conjecture. Tropicalizations of Berkovich spaces approximately describe the set of common zeros of several power series in terms of linear inequalities. I established, with Shu Kawaguchi, a nontrivial sufficient condition for such descriptions to sufficiently well approximate the original common zeros.

    On an algebraic variety, which is a geometric object defined by algebraic equations, we sometimes have “height functions”. These height functions measure arithmetic complexity of varieties. Using them, we can study relationships between the distribution of small algebraic points and the geometric property of the variety. In this research, we investigated the heights of some important subjects in algebraic geometry. Furthermore, we applied the results on heights to interesting arithmetic problems, obtaining significant results.
