    In this study, the energy flow in detached houses in Sendai City in the Tohoku region of Japan where photovoltaic power generation system, solar thermal collection system, and fuel cell cogeneration system were installed was analyzed based on measured data. Hot water obtained by solar heat collected in the house is used to supply hot water to the kitchen throughout the year, to supply hot water to floor heating and to preheat the air supply of the HVAC system in winter, and to regenerate the desiccant wheel of the HVAC system in summer. A hybrid hot water supply system using city gas and a heat pump is used as an auxiliary heat source for a solar thermal system. As a result, the monthly energy self-sufficiency rate, energy efficiency and heat loss rate of the house for three years were calculated, and the necessity of the optimization of the operation method of the solar thermal system was found. In addition, daily analyses of solar thermal system in winter and summer suggested the importance of the operation corresponding to the weather.

    The indoor thermal environment comprises temperature, humidity, wind velocity, and radiant temperature. The spatial distribution of these elements is a combination of the individual responses of the heat and water vapor transported into the space from each source. The contribution ratio for indoor climate (CRI) proposed by Kato, Kobayashi, and Murakami is a single index that evaluates the effect of each heat source on the temperature by breaking down the temperature increase at position x in a room into the effect of each heat source. We extended the CRI concept to three single indices to improve its applicability. Previously, thermal environment evaluation was often performed using a composite index rather than a single index. To evaluate the combined effects of heat and moisture sources, decomposing multiple elements individually and then combining them is desirable. In this study, we propose CRISE to evaluate the contribution of a heat or moisture source to the specific enthalpy at a given point in a closed space. The index was calculated by combining a single index of dry-bulb temperature and absolute humidity. The CRISE is a useful index for evaluating the indoor thermal environment and HVAC load.

    Abstract Understanding residual radioactive contamination state and the resulting radiation environment is vital before reconstructing the lives of residents in areas affected by nuclear power plant accidents. In this study, we surveyed the depth profiles of Cs‐137 in three artificially paved ground surfaces: impermeable asphalt, permeable asphalt, and concrete, in areas affected by the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident after a period of 10 years and analyzed the gamma‐ray air dose rate distribution in a two‐story wooden house model surrounded by different ground surfaces using the Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency. The air dose rate distribution tendencies within the building for different surrounding ground surfaces were clarified by analyzing the transport of gamma rays emitted from the Cs‐137 in the ground. Moreover, the shielding effect of an ordinal concrete fence on the indoor air dose rate was analyzed. The analysis showed that the indoor air dose rate was higher in an environment with artificial pavement than in that with a soil surface, and even a simple measure, such as installing an ordinal concrete fence, could significantly reduce indoor radiation dose rates.

    This study explored changes in spatial radiation dose rate both indoor and outdoor associated with a decontamination operation for a wooden house in a high dose rate region in Fukushima. As a result, the averaged spatial dose rate at 1m height from the floor before the decontamination was 1.73μSv/h and the dose rate after the decontamination was 0.86μSv/h. Furthermore, the results of a comparison of the dose rate between pre- and post-decontamination indicates a decrease in the dose rate at almost all points. The reduction rate of spatial dose-rate was 40 to 50% at the center of the house.

    The ventilation load from the outdoor air intake is a dominant heating/cooling load in buildings. Increasing the ventilation rate plays an important role in decreasing the percentage of subjects dissatisfied with the IAQ and improving workplace productivity. In order to optimize the ventilation rate, the energy recovery ventilator (ERV) integrated CO_2 demand controlled algorithm is an effective measure in indoor environmental design. The overarching objective of this study was to develop an optimized ERV with a CO_2 demand controlled algorithm. The residual lifetime of CO_2 generated at a local point in the office space was measured to examine and improve the feedback algorithm for CO_2 sensing at the local point and adjustment of the ventilation rate. In Part 1 of this research project, we conducted long-term field measurements in a university office space having ERVs installed with CO_2 demand controlled systems under summer conditions. Two types of CO_2DCV algorithms were adopted: a multistage CO_2 concentration threshold setting method that adjusts the ventilation rate in a stepwise manner, and consecutive/sequential control of the ventilation rate according to the time-dependent CO_2 concentrations. During the field measurements in 2013FY, a sequential optimization procedure of ventilation rate using an inverter system was introduced into the ERV with CO_2DCV, and a significant reduction in the outdoor intake and electricity consumption was confirmed.

    We have developed a two-pipe dynamic ice transportation system for building air-conditioning system. The system can transport ice slurries having ice packing factor (IPF) of over 10% in the piping system; this system have already been applied to two office buildings. In this paper, we outline the characteristics of the system and describe some important aspects to carry out ice slurry piping work successfully. We also report the results of basic experiments performed on branching ice slurry's IPF, which we could not determine from previous researches and the two buildings' HVAC system using ice slurry.

    The original definition of CRI_<(C)> estimates the room temperature distribution by taking account of only convection. In this paper, we propose the new concept of radiation distribution coefficient (CRI_<(R)>) to improve the original concept of CRI_<(C)>. We also demonstrate the effectiveness of the new concept of radiation distribution coefficient by applying it to an enclosed space with radiation and convection. The estimated result is compared with the result of the coupled simulation of CFD and radiation and the usefulness of CRI_<(R)> is confirmed.

    The purpose of this study is to understand the co-efficient of performance (COP) on the partial load of energy source equipments by the result of measurements of a middle scale office building with thermal storage tank. The result of air-conditioning load measurements indicates that the operating time at the partical load is very long. In order to reduce the energy consumption and running cost of the air-conditioning energy source systems, their systems should be selected with the hi-performance equipment not only on the peak load, but also on the partial load. This paper reports the measurement data of the COP of air source heat pump chiller-heater and gas fired absorption chiller-heater, and analyzed the relation with COP and effecting factors. This paper shows the formula of COP for the simulation, and confirms the correctness of this formula. And also this paper reports the heat loss ratio of thermal storage tank in a year.

    The lagrangian dynamic subgrid-scale (SGS) model proposed by Meneveau et al. (1994) was implemented and tested for a turbulent flowfield past a 2D square cylinder at Re=2.2×104. This model improves the usual type of dynamic Smagorinsky model by minimizing the error of the algebraic identity along fluid trajectories. This is realized numerically by solving two simple relaxation transport equations. It was confirmed that this model contributes to improvement of calculation stability and provides more accurate results than does the usual type of dynamic Smagorinsky model.

    The purpose of this study was to develop a new desiccant air conditioning system that is expected to contribute to energy conservation in air conditioning. It is characterized by the use of the conductive polymer PEDOT:PSS as a desiccant medium, and its reactivation is done by energization. The following objectives and issues were set to explore the possibility of a system that does not use hot air and is more efficient and controllable than conventional systems. Objective 1: Development of a desiccant element using PEDOT:PSS, and Objective 2: Development of a desiccant rotor regeneration method using conductivity. Subject 1: Development of a desiccant rotor with excellent absorption and desorption performance, Subject 2: Development of an optimal reactivation method using electric current, Subject 3: Investigation of desiccant element shape through experiments and numerical analysis, Subject 4: Investigation of operation method through experiments using an experiment and analysis.

    First, simultaneous measurements of outdoor thermal environments and physiological responses of walking pedestrians were conducted and the relationships between the thermal environments and the physiological responses were determined. Secondly, the validation of the human thermoregulation models was performed in order to select the suitable models for heatstroke and thermal comfort evaluation of walking pedestrians.Lastly, a new prediction method of outdoor thermal environments based on the viewpoint of “suppressing heat stress increase of walking pedestrians to keep thermal environment in outdoor space within acceptable range” was developed by using these models and coupled simulations of radiation, conduction and convection. Based on this method, a study of the most suitable arrangement of cool spots and the evaluation of countermeasures against urban warming in a certain street in the Shimbashi area was conducted.

    In order to clarify the association between the indoor environment of residential buildings and cerebrovascular disease, an epidemiological survey of approximately 200 elderly persons living in Yamagata Prefecture of Japan was conducted. The survey was divided into three phases. From first phase, an epidemiological survey of 188 elderly persons living in three areas that have different rates of death due to cerebrovascular disease was conducted. Results indicate that poor quality of the indoor environment during winter could increase the risk of cerebrovascular disease.The results obtained from the final phase, which included field measurements of indoor temperatures and blood pressure of 30 elderly persons during one year. Results indicate that in most houses, that the indoor temperature at daybreak can be as low as the outdoor temperature. The systolic blood pressure of elderly persons was shown to be positively associated with exposure to temperatures lower than 15°C.

    本研究は室内換気負荷と局所領域空気質の最適化を達成するディマンド制御を組み込んだ全熱交換型換気システムの開発に取り組むもので,環境試験室内での全熱交換エレメントの性能試験,CFD・エネルギーシミュレーションを中心とした数値解析による性能検討,大学研究室の居室空間を対象とした実測調査,の各手法を相互補完的に併用して研究を進める.本研究は当初3年計画であったが,効率的に研究を推進して,本年度1年でほぼ予定していた研究開発を完了させた.具体的な成果を以下に列挙する. (1)リアルタイム人員密度計測法の開発:時間変動する人員密度に対応した換気量調整を行うために,入退室ドア部(入り口)に設置するドップラーセンサを利用したリアルタイムでの人員密度計測法を開発すると共に,フィールドで性能試験を実施した. (2)CO2センシングによるデマンド制御アルゴリズムの開発:リアルタイム人員密度計測データの他,室内局所領域のCO2濃度を入力とした導入外気量の調整法,即ち居住域平均濃度を対象としたデマンド制御アルゴリズムを開発した. (3)換気効率を考慮したディマンド制御を組み込んだ全熱交換型換気システムの開発:室内に形成されるCO2の不均一濃度分布を数値流体力学CFDによる数値解析によって求め,その結果を基に室内の局所領域(居住域,タスク域等)換気性状を,基準化居住域濃度の換気効率指標で定量評価し,代表的な境界条件の下での換気効率解析結果をデータベース化すると共に,CO2センサの最適配置,局所領域濃度レベル,全熱交換器の熱交換効率最適化を総合的に考慮した換気システムを開発し,連成数値解析ならびに現場実測で性能検証を実施した.

    This study aimed to develop a new module of tree canopy model for CFD prediction of urban environment. Firstly, field observations of turbulent flow fields in and around a group of trees were carried out and spatial variation of turbulent length scale was examined. Then, new evaluation methods of the turbulent length scale using LES data were developed to revise model coefficients of canopy model. Next, LES analyses of the wind flow within roughness elements were performed to investigate the influence of roughness configurations on turbulent characteristics within the canopy layer. Canopy models previously proposed based on k-ε model to reproduce the effect of roughness configurations on flow fields were examined and revised by using the turbulent length scale data provided by the LES. Finally, wind environments in an agricultural area located 20km south from Sendai were predicted to investigate the effects of new windbreak forest by using OpenFOAM with the revised tree canopy model.

    施設園芸に於いて暖房エネルギーを削減する方法にはハウスの保温性能向上と太陽熱の有効利用がある。これらは従来より行われているが、ハウス内の作物には1日を通じた適温の周期があり、高温になり過ぎれば換気し、低温になれば暖房を行う。この適温の周期を自然熱で実現するために、建築分野で用いる潜熱蓄熱技術を適用し、太陽熱を適切な温度で蓄え、有効に利用する方法の開発を目指す。
