    Abstract Essential understanding of the pearlite growth kinetics is of great significance to predict the lamellar spacing and the resultant mechanical properties of pearlitic steels. In this study, a series of eutectoid steels with Mn addition up to 2 mass pct were isothermally transformed at various temperatures from 873 K to 973 K to clarify the pearlite growth kinetics and the underlying thermodynamics at its growth front. The microscopic observation indicates the acceleration in pearlite growth rate and refinement in lamellar spacing by decreasing the transformation temperature or the amount of Mn addition. After analyzing the solute distribution at pearlite growth front via three-dimensional atom probe, no macroscopic Mn partitioning across pearlite/austenite interface is detected, whereas Mn segregation is only observed at ferrite/austenite interface. Furthermore, in-situ neutron diffraction measurements performed at elevated temperatures reveal that the magnitude of elastic strain generated during pearlite transformation is very small. Based on the thermodynamic model, these experimental results are used to estimate the contribution of various factors to the total energy dissipation. Compared with the Mn-free alloy, the retardation effect of Mn addition on pearlite growth kinetics, which is partly due to the reduced driving force for pearlite growth, can be well explained by further considering the solute drag effect of Mn.

    Abstract The solute clustering behaviors in Fe-1.0mass%Cr-0.3mass%N tempered martensite were comparatively studied by using three atom probe instruments, i.e. LEAP 4000 HR, 5000 XR, and 5000 XS. The microstructural features of nanoclusters were measured under the same conditions in voltage pulse mode, while statistical analysis including nearest neighbor distribution, radial distribution, frequency distribution, and cluster size distribution of Cr atoms were performed on the reconstructed datasets. The results revealed the superior capability of the LEAP 5000 XR to detect Cr nanoclusters in tempered martensite compared with the LEAP 4000 HR as a result of the improvement in detection efficiency and hit detection performance, whereas the high level of background in the mass-to-charge spectrum measured by the LEAP 5000 XS in voltage pulse mode limits its application in the detection of solute nanoclusters.

    <p>Age hardening in stable austenitic stainless steel wires with a chemical composition of Fe-18%Cr-12%Ni and different N contents was investigated to clarify the role of N. Age hardening could be enhanced by increasing the drawing ratio and N content. The highest age-hardening effect was observed at 800 K in the N-bearing specimens. In addition, severe drawing induced low-temperature age hardening at 450–600 K. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis revealed that age hardening at 800 K may be attributed to particle dispersion strengthening by Cr2N. Meanwhile, the exothermic peaks observed at 450–600 K were controlled by the pipe diffusion of N. However, nitride precipitates and clusters could not be detected by 3D atom probe anaysis, which implies the formation of atomic-scale N products, such as I-S pairs, at the dislocations.</p>

    The microstructure evolution during solution treatment at (alpha+beta) two phase region and subsequent aging process at 620 ˚C, after compressing the specimen in beta structure to different strain (0-70%) followed by cooling to room temperature has been investigated. Deformation strain hardly affects the total volume fraction of alpha phase after the solution treatment and aging process. On the other hand, with an increase in deformation strain, the volume fraction of the primary alpha phase increased although secondary alpha phase decreased, during the aging process, scuhdecrease in secondary alpha phase volume fraction results in a decrease in the strength. The loss of coherency of alpha/beta interphase boundaries at higher deformation strain promoted by dynamic recovery increases the interfacial mobility; which results in faster growth of primary alpha, thereby decreases secondary alpha precipitation.

    <p>In order to clarify the effect of deformation prior to nitriding and additive elements on nitriding behavior in pure iron and Fe-M(M=Al, Cr)binary ferritic alloys, which had been deformed by HPT processes, were plasma-nitrided at 843K for 3.6ks, then the microstructure and hardness of them were investigated. It was found that the effects of deformation on hardness of nitriding diffusion zone in pure iron and Fe-1Cr alloy were small. In contrast, the hardness of diffusion zone in Fe-1Al alloy was greatly increased by deformation because deformation promoted the precipitation of AlN more extensively than non-deformed specimen. In addition, deformation resulted in more homogeneous growth of the compound layer with the finer grain size of γ' on the compound layer. This feature was observed most remarkably in Fe-1Al alloy, where needle-like γ' compound layer was formed in the non-deformed specimens.</p>

    <p>From the background of miniaturization and high–density mounting in mobile information communication devices such as smartphones and tablet terminals, micro connectors are getting thinner and narrower. It is therefore, required to improve the strength and electrical conductivity of copper alloys used in the devices. Recently, our group successfully found that the procedure of finish–rolling and then annealing at a low temperature was available to provide a 0.2% proof stress exceeding 1000 MPa and an electrical conductivity exceeding 30% IACS for a Cu–2.4Ni–1.2Co–0.90Si alloy (mass%). In this study, we investigated the strength, electrical conductivity, and microstructural evolution of before and after annealing at a low temperature for the Cu–2.4Ni–1.2Co–0.9Si alloy, by means of XRD, EBSD, FE–SEM, TEM, and three–dimensional atom probe (3DAP). According to the 3DAP analysis, clusters of Ni, Co, and Si with a size of approximately 1 nm were formed after annealing at a low temperature. It is suggested that fine age–induced precipitates, (Ni,Co)2Si, with a size of 5 nm, should be sheared by the finish–rolling procedure and then ultrafine clusters should be formed by annealing at a low temperature. Therefore, the strengthening by annealing at a low temperature must be contributed to ultrafine clusters.</p>

    <p>Pure iron and Fe-M (M=Mo, Si, Mn, Cr, Al, V) binary ferritic alloys were nitrided at 843K for various times. Phase constituent, hardness distribution and growth rate of the compound layer are investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, EBSD, EPMA, 3DAP and nanoindentation. In pure iron, ε and γ' (in the beneath of ε) are formed on the surface, and voids are formed at the outermost surface. The hardness of γ' is higher than ferrite matrix, while void formation causes softening of compound layer. Although alloying effects on the hardness of compound layer are small, Si, V and Al additions suppress formation of voids, softening is suppressed. All the elements investigated increase growth rate of compound layers, especially that Si, V and Al additions accelerate their growth rate significantly due to the presence of excess nitrogen in compound layer. However, in the case of Al-added specimen, the growth becomes sluggish at longer nitriding time, probably because extensive precipitation of AlN precipitates in the diffusion layer.</p>

    Three-dimensional visualization by serial sectioning and deformation analysis by EBSD were performed for detailed microscopic evaluation of the interface between an electroplated film of tin and a copper substrate. Three-dimensional morphology revealed that the intermetallic compound of Cu6Sn5 developed nonuniformly from the tin grain boundaries, which are thought to be preferred nucleation sites of Cu6Sn5. Results further showed that the whisker root grain coarsened in the plated plane because of incoming tin atoms and consequent grain boundary movement. Scanning ion microscopy and a kernel average misorientation map showed that copper deforms locally as Cu6Sn5 develops at the interface between the electroplated film and substrate. The mode of the local deformation of copper adjacent to Cu6Sn5 was evaluated using pattern analysis of EBSD. The tensor, which describes the local deformation, showed that rotation and shear strain were introduced because of the volume change in the Cu6Sn5 formation. The nonuniform morphology of Cu6Sn5 and resultant local deformation of copper suggest nonuniform deformation in the tin film, which might induce tin atom diffusion and promote whisker growth.

    Microstructure dependence on mechanical properties were investigated for Ti-17 forged at temperatures between 700 and 850 ˚C with deformation ratio from 33 to 80 %, and solutiontreated at 800˚C for 4 hours and aged at 620 ˚C for 8 hours. The microstructure was observed after solution and aging treatments. The volume fraction and the size of the primary alpha phase was controlled by solution treatment temperature, not forging temperature and deformation ratio. Forging temperature affected the morphology of grain boundary (GB) alpha phase. Deformation ratio affected the grain size and the aspect ratio of the horizontal and vertical grain size of the prior beta phase. The tensile strength was investigated at room temperature, 450, and 600 ˚C. Forging temperature and deformation ratio did not affect the tensile strength because there is no large difference of the volume fraction of the alphaphase. On the other hand, the elongation and the reduction of area increased with increase of the aspect ratio of the prior beta grains; that means, increase of the deformation ratio. Raising of forging temperature also increased elongation and reduction of area due to the film-like GB alphaphase.

    鉄鋼材料中で侵入型元素と置換型元素が局所的に濃化した溶質クラスタによる強化機構を解明するため、薄い希薄Fe-Ti板状試料を種々の温度に加熱したNH3+H2雰囲気中で焼鈍することで,試料中央まで均一に窒化した試料を作製した。その後,窒化温度よりも低温で水素焼鈍することでなるべくクラスター分布を変えずに固溶窒素を除去した.その結果,TiとNの原子濃度比率は窒化温度によらずほぼ1:1となったことから,水素焼鈍後の試料にはTi-Nクラスターのみが含まれ,固溶Nは除去できたものと考えられる.次に、水素焼鈍材の硬さを測定したところ,窒化温度が上昇するにつれて650℃までは硬さは増加するが,それ以上では軟化することを見出した。このことは,クラスターサイズが小さい場合にはクラスターサイズの増加に伴い硬化量が増加するがあるサイズを超えると軟化が生じることを示唆している。 この試料の引張特性を明らかにするため、窒化材及び水素焼鈍材より引張試験片を切り出し、引張特性を評価した。その結果,窒化材では高温での処理材を除き弾性域破断するのに対して,水素焼鈍により固溶窒素を除去することで延性が回復し、降伏強度並びに引張強度を評価することができ、その温度依存性は硬さと同様の傾向を示すことを明確にした。このように初年度は、固溶Nを含まずクラスターのみで強化された試料を作製し、その力学特性を評価することに成功した。次年度は各試料におけるクラスター分布をTEMならびに三次元アトムプローブにより定量化し、強化機構を解明する。

    In order to control the phase transformation microstructure that develops during heat treatment of steels, the effects of Mo, Mn, and Ni additions on the interfacial migration of interphase boundary were investigated. Mo segregates at the interface and consumes a large amount of energy for interfacial migration, but the effect disappears when the migration velocity is small. On the other hand, Mn consumes a large amount of energy regardless of the interfacial migration velocity and suppresses interfacial migration even at slow interfacial migration velocities. Furthermore, 3DAP analyses reveal the nanoscale elemental enrichment near the interface that causes these energy consumption and it was found that the enrichment behavior differs greatly depending on the interfacial character.     2018年度は、大型放射光施設で実施する回折実験のための最適な窒化処理条件の確立と、予備試験用の試料作製、放射光白色X線回折による窒素の侵入深さ評価を目標とした。最適な窒化処理条件は、Thermo-calcを用いて、窒化処理温度1273Kにおける窒素活量を変化させた際の窒素の侵入深さを調査した。その結果、単純条件の窒素ガス100%と、最適条件の窒素ガスと水素ガスの比率量を20:80%とした。このレシピをもとにして、浸炭窒化クエンチ炉を用いて、窒化処理をオーステナイト系ステンレス鋼(SUS316L)の1mm厚の板材、100μm厚の薄板材、150μm粒径の粉末に施した。ここで、板材は測定試料を模擬し、薄板材及び粉末は無応力状態の窒化層を模擬している。放射光白色X線回折による窒素の侵入深さ評価は、SPring-8の量研機構専用ビームラインBL14B1で実施した。その結果、回折エネルギー(格子面間隔)の厚さ方向変化から、試料表面層から内部までの構造変化の同定に成功した。特に、窒素ガス100%の場合、試料表面の窒化層は、窒素固溶により拡張したオーステナイトと窒化物が混在していることが分かった。一方、窒素ガス20%の場合、試料表面の窒化層は、窒素固溶により拡張したオーステナイトのみとなることが分かった。また、薄板材及び粉末を用いた測定では、無応力状態の窒化層および基地層の格子面間隔を得ることに成功した。特に、集合組織や結晶粒の粗大化などの影響を考えると、SUS316L粉末の窒化処理はそれらの影響を最小限に留める、非常にユニークな結果となり、2019年度以降の表面改質処理プロセス中放射光その場観測の結果を定量化するための準備が整った。

    本研究では、侵入型元素Iと置換型元素S間の相互作用に注目し、実験および計算の両面で規則化と相分離が競合重畳することで起こる元素クラスタリング挙動について調べる。今年度は、炭素および窒素マルテンサイトの焼戻しおよび窒化処理におけるクラスター生成の実験的調査と、I-S間の相互作用に起因するクラスタリングの理論モデル構築について取り組んだ。 高炭素マルテンサイトにおける低温焼戻しのkineticsにおよぼす合金元素添加(Mn、Si、Cr、Al)の影響を連続昇温および等温保持で調べた。連続昇温中の発熱ピーク温度と等温保持中の電気抵抗変化の結果を焼戻しパラメータで整理すると、合金元素添加により反応kineticsが遅延される傾向が見られる。この原因としては、Feと異なる原子サイズを持つ元素添加によるC拡散の抑制効果が考えられる。 炭素・窒素マルテンサイトの高温焼戻しにおいて、強い炭窒化物生成元素(V、Nb、Ti、Cr、Mo)を添加することで軟化抵抗が見られた。アトムプローブおよび電子顕微鏡の結果より、軟化抵抗の原因はナノ合金炭窒化物・クラスターの生成による強化であることがわかった。それに加えて合金元素添加による転位回復の抑制効果も存在することがX線解析により確認された。 また、Fe-Al合金にTiを添加した合金を窒化処理することで、Ti-Nクラスター生成によりAl窒化物析出が促進され大きな表面硬化が現れるのに対して、Al-Nb複合添加材ではクラスターは生成するもののAlN析出促進効果は現れないことから、クラスター誘起析出現象にはクラスター生成傾向以外の因子も影響することを明確にした。第一原理計算とモンテカルロ計算を組み合わせることで、フェライト中TiとNのクラスタリング挙動をシミュレーションした結果、Fe-Ti合金窒化材における一原子層クラスター生成の観察結果を再現することができた。

    In this research, ferrite transformation behavior of Fe-N alloy and the effect of alloying element were investigated using pure iron and 1 mass% of Mn, Mo and Cr added alloy. The nitrogen austenite was obtained by nitriding method, and then, the nitrided samples were isothermally treated in the α + γ two-phase region for several period of time. The two types of morphology of AF and WF were obtained with changes in the driving force of ferrite transformation. The AF was nucleated from the prior austenite grain boundaries, and the AF has K-S OR with one side of the adjacent prior austenite grains and grew into the grains having non K-S OR. On the other hand, the WF had the K-S OR with the prior austenite grain. Transformation was retarded by the addition of Mn and Mo. In the Cr added alloy, the ferrite transformation progressed with the interface precipitation of CrN.

    We have investigated effects of various factors on variant structure of martensite and bainite in ferrous alloys. We found that strong variant selection occurs in the nucleation of bainite at austenite grain boundary, which cause the formation of coarse grain boundary structure especially for in low carbon steel. Increase in carbon content, self-accommodation is enhanced and the formation of coarse grain boundary bainite structure is suppressed. On the other hand, thickness and length of martensite are reduced at higher carbon content. Block length is decreased at smaller austenite grain size while effects of austenite grain size on block thickness is small.

    In order to establish novel grain refinement method, we've investigated microstructure change during cyclic displacive forward and reverse transformations. It was found that displacive reversion takes place in Fe-18Ni and Fe-23Ni alloys. As a results of reversion and forward transformations in Fe-Ni alloy, grain size decreases although further refinement cannot be achieved with increasing the number of cycles. On the other hand, grain size decreases continuously with increasing number of cycles in carbon added alloy. Eventually, sub-micron grain can be obtained after 10 cycles in this alloy.

    In this study, microstructure change during reversion of steels was examined focussing on (1) effects of initial structure, (2) non-equilibrium partitioning of alloying elements, and (3) crystallographic constraints during reversion. Main results obtained are as follows. In Fe-high Ni alloys, displacive transformation occurs during reversion with austenite memory. However, a high dislocation density in reversely transformed austenite induces recrystallization which results in disappearance of the memory effect during further holding. In Fe-Mn-C alloys, reversely transformed austenite exhibits two kinds of distinctive morphologies, granular and acicular. Those morphologies are different in crystallographic character with respect to martensite matrix. Also, it was revealed that the granular austenite is formed in non-equilibrium in the beginning and reaches to the equilibrium in the later stage of reversion.

    In order to refine microstructure of displacive transformation, intragranular nucleation, which has been used in the diffusional transformation, has been applied. It was found that, unlike to diffusional transformation, effects of inclusion or precipitates within matrix grains are small while deformation prior to transformation accelerates intragranulear nucleation of martensite or baintie, leading to refinement of microstructure. Furthermore, novel characterization method has been developed on a basis of precise measurement of orientation relationship between product and matrix phases and reconstruction method of austenite matrix.

    In order to create surface ceramics layer hardened by nano-sized precipitate, pure Fe and Fe-M binary alloys containing small amount of nitride forming elements were gaseous nitrided and crystal structure, growth rate and hardness of surface layer wereinvestigated. Nano-indentation measurements revealed that hardness of γ' layer on the surface of pure Fe is much higher than those in ferrite matrix beneath γ'. On the other hand, hardness of ferrite after nitriding treatment is significantly increased by the addition of Cr, V or Al, while alloying effect on hardness of compound layer is relatively small. Those results imply that precipitation hardening by nano-sized nitrides is not so effective to harden the compound layer.

    In the present study, interaction between lath martensite transformation and plastic deformation in austenite matrix, which is supposed to affect structure size of lath martensite, has been investigated. Quantitative analysis of strain mapping around martensite lath revealed that shape strain during lath formation is mostly accommodated by plastic deformation in austenite, leading to inhomogeneous lattice rotation in austenite adjacent to martensite. Such deformation in austenite would inhibit further growth of martensite lath. It was found that prior deformation of austenite to martensite transformation reduces variant size of lath martensite without change in size of each lath although specific variants are nucleated preferentially on the dislocation structure in austenite.

    The effects of initial α grain boundary and lath martensite structure on precipitation induced recrystallization(PIR) have been investigated. The growth of recrystallized grains is inhibited at the boundary misoriented larger than 5 degrees, resulting in the formation of new ferrite grain at these boundaries. The PIR was found to appear in the austenitic high-Cr alloy in which austenite is stabilized by the Ni addition. This implies that the PIR can takes place generally regardless of crystal structure of the matrix when the volume fraction of precipitate is higher.

    本年度は、析出誘起再結晶が発現するフェライト系ステンレス合金(Fe-18%Cr)およびオーステナイト系ステンレス合金(Fe-20%Cr-10%Ni)を823Kで18ksプラズマ窒化した後, 種々の温度まで再加熱して水素焼鈍を施し, その組織変化を調べた. 窒化したFe-18Cr合金およびFe-20Cr-10Ni合金を823K〜1023Kで水素焼鈍した後EBSD測定により, 再結晶集合組織を調べた結果, 両合金ともに窒化時の析出誘起再結晶組織が, 水素焼鈍後にも変化せず存在することが明らかとなった. Fe-18Cr合金を823Kで36ks水素焼鈍しても, 窒化物組織に顕著な変化は見られない. 923Kで36ksの水素焼鈍を施した場合には, 窒化層内のCrNラメラが一部球状化し始め, 未窒化層内でも窒化物が生成することが明らかとなった. しかしながら, 水素焼鈍温度を1023Kまで上げて, 144ks保持しても窒化層内の窒化物の球状化は促進するものの脱窒は進まない. Fe-20Cr-10Ni合金の水素焼鈍でも, 窒化物の球状化が観察されたが脱窒反応は完了せずCr窒化物が表面近傍に残存することが明らかとなった. 以上より, フェライト系およびオーステナイト系ステンレス鋼の窒化で発現する析出誘起再結晶の集合組織は水素焼鈍後も残存するが, 1023Kで長時間の水素焼鈍処理を行っても脱窒反応が完了しない. より高温での水素焼鈍処理を施すことで, Cr窒化物が固溶して母相Cr濃度の増加が予想されることから, 集合組織制御した高耐食性合金を作成できる可能性が示唆された.

    Ti, V, Al, Crを約1%含むFe-M2元合金をフェライト温度域の843Kで種々の時間プラズマ窒化し,窒化物の析出組織を主に高分解能電顕観察により調べた.Fe-Ti, Fe-V合金を窒化すると硬度が大きく上昇するが,Fe-Al, Fe-Cr合金での硬度上昇は小さい.硬度上昇の大きなFe-Ti, Fe-Vの窒化材では,準安定かつ微細なTi-NおよびV-Nクラスターが{001}_α面に沿った板状のモノレイヤーおよびマルチレイヤークラスターとして均一生成し,特にFe-Ti合金の窒化では試料表面に近づくに連れて,クラスターのサイズが大きく密度は小さくなり,表面付近でクラスターから平衡窒化物(TiN)への遷移が起こることが明らかとなった.一方,硬度上昇の小さなFe-Al, Fe-Cr合金の窒化ではクラスターは生成せず,B1型構造のCrNやAlNおよびwurzite構造のAlNがより低密度で不均一生成することが分かり,クラスター生成と硬度上昇量は密接に関連していることが示唆されている。 ThermoCalcを用いた自由エネルギー計算により,Fe-(Ti, V)-N3元系ではbcc中でαとMNへの相分離が熱力学的に可能であるのに対して,Fe-Al-N3元系では熱力学的に相分離が起こらず,Fe-Cr-Nでも相分離傾向は小さいことが明らかになった.
