    The two-leg ladder system consisting of the Kitaev chains is known to exhibit a richer phase diagram than that of the single chain. We theoretically investigate the variety of the Josephson effects between the ladder systems. We consider the Josephson phase difference \theta between these two ladder systems as well as the phase difference \phi between the parallel chains in each ladder system. The total energy of the junction at T = 0 is calculated by a numerical diagonalization method as functions of \theta, \phi, and also a transverse hopping t_{\perp} in the ladders. We find that, by controlling t_{\perp} and \phi, the junction exhibits not only the fractional Josephson effect for the phase difference \theta, but also the usual 0-junction and even \pi-junction properties.

    We study the electronic state of an inverse spinel compound MnMg2O4 based on first-principles calculations. The high-spin state is realized in Mn ions on the diamond lattice, resulting in that this material is found to be a half-metallic semimetal with the minority spin-gap about 3eV, and also with line nodes in the Brillouin zone. The intrinsic anomalous Hall conductivity (AHC) is also computed as a function of the chemical potential of the system assuming the rigid band structure, and is found to exhibit a peak structure with a maximum value of 200 S/cm at only 15 meV above the Fermi level. The relation between the large AHC and Berry curvature in the Brillouin zone is also discussed.

    First-principles calculation of D0<inf>22</inf>Mn<inf>3</inf>Ge shows a fully spin-polarized \Delta_{1} band at the Fermi level, low saturation magnetization M_{\text{S } }=180 emu/cm3, high uniaxial magnetic anisotropy K_{\text{u } }=23 Merg/cm3, and low Gilbert damping \alpha=9\times 10^{-4}. We also experimentally investigate D0<inf>22</inf>Mn<inf>3+x</inf>Ge epitaxial films grown on MgO(100) substrates with different compositions x. The films exhibit a coercivity of about 20 kOe, M_{\text{S } } of about 130 emu/cm3, and K_{\text{u } } of about 10 Merg/cm3at x=0.55 (78 at.% Mn). These indicate that D0<inf>22</inf>Mn<inf>3</inf>Ge is a good candidate for spin-transfer-torque random access memory.

    Quasiparticle bound states can be formed around an impurity in high-T_e cuprates. Recently the property of the bound states has been increasingly understood because of the development in technology of scanning tunneling microscopy. Here we present the recent experimental and theoretical results about the bound states around a Zn impurity, which is the best understood among various impurity-induced bound states.

    キタエフ模型には量子スピン型と1次元p波超伝導型の2種類が知られており,どちらもマヨラナ準粒子を伴う.本申請課題においては,これら二つのキタエフ模型を基にした,braidingを伴わない量子計算素子や,マヨラナ準粒子によるスピンまたは量子位相伝播を利用した論理ゲート等の理論的提案を行い,その特性やノイズ耐性の評価および,第一原理計算を援用した材料探索までを包含した,キタエフ模型の実用化に関する新たなアプローチを展開する. まず1次元p波キタエフ模型に関しては,この模型を平行に配置したワイヤー対を一つのユニットとみなし,さらにこのユニット間のジョセフソン接合素子を調べた.このとき,ユニット間の結合強度およびワイヤー対間の位相差を制御することにより,トポロジカルジョセフソン特性に始まり通常の0接合と呼ばれる特性,さらにはπ接合と呼ばれる特性が得られることが判明した.このようなジョセフソン効果の位相-電流特性を外的に制御できる系は,超伝導量子計算メモリ等への応用が期待される. 続いて,量子スピン型キタエフ模型に関しては,遍歴マヨラナ粒子による磁気励起伝播の応用可能性について調べた.磁気励起を伝播するデバイスにおいては,その流れのON/OFF制御が重要である.一方で,キタエフ模型における磁気励起を運ぶのは電気的に中世の遍歴マヨラナ粒子であり,外的な擾乱を受けにくい一方で制御が困難である.しかし,キタエフ模型に外部磁場を印加してマヨラナ粒子にエネルギーギャップを与えることにより,磁気励起伝播のON/OFFが可能であることを見出した.

    The purpose of this study is to establish a microscopic and quantitative theoretical description of the magnetic properties of rare-earth permanent magnets and to provide guidelines for the development of high-performance magnets. First, we construct a model of the magnetic interaction between localized 4f electrons and conduction electrons, which reproduces the spin-rearrangement transition observed in experiments. Furthermore, for Ce transition metal compounds, which are known to have strong hybridization of 4f-3d orbitals, we constructed a microscopically effective model that incorporates the hybridization effect of the orbitals and verified its validity. As a result, it became possible to qualitatively explain the experimentally observed magnetic anisotropy at finite temperature in a specific parameter region.

    There are two remaining issues in cuprate superconductivity: (i) the possibility of non-doped superconducting transition in T'-type cuprates, and (ii) the origin of the pseudogap state observed in the low carrier density region of T-type ones. For (i), we have investigated the possibility of a superconducting transition within the fluctuation exchange approximation using a two-band effective model that explicitly incorporates the oxygen 2p orbital degrees of freedom in the CuO2 plane, and found that the superconducting transition is possible as reported in experiments. As for (ii), it was found that the experimental findings such as the Fermi arc and charge density wave states can be described satisfactorily by considering the staggered flux state in the realistic band structure.

    Coloring mechanisms on glass are used by XAFS and computer simulations. From XAFS measurement of metal ions Fe ion is 3, Mn is mixture of 2 and 3 and Co is 4. Pb state is PbO. Pb concentration do not relate to oxidation number. First principle calculation is used combine between CoO2 and SiO2. Absorption of visible light is not at combine of CoO2 and SiO2. Co structure is important.

    We explore the novel quantum phases in ultracold atomic gases with the spin degrees of freedom, forming the typical many-body multi-component systems in optical lattices. We have theoretically clarified that Cooper-pairing symmetry of a fermionic superfluid and the dynamical instability of a bosonic superfluid greatly change via the subtle balance in the interactions between the atomic components. We consider such a role of interactions to be a possible origin of diverse quantum phases found in these multi-component systems. On the other hand, we have experimentally created quasi-one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensates with high density on a persistent-supercurrent atom chip. We observe that the momentum distribution of condensates becomes fragile owing to the quantum fluctuations inherent in this low-dimensional system. We furthermore develop the experimental techniques for controlling atomic spins on an atom chip and then realize the multi-component condensates.

    Within the framework of the Kubo formula, we developed a calculation tool of conductivity tensor of magnetic materials by using the first principles technique for the electronic structure. Appling this method to the spintronics materials, we studied the effects of chemical disorder and spin fluctuation on the electrical resistivity, anomalous magnetoresistance effects (AMR), anomalous Hall effect and spin polarization.

    With cuprates in mind, we systematically studied properties of pseudogap and d-wave superconductivity, which are keys to clarify the mechanism of high-Tc cuprates. We mainly applied a variational Monte Carlo method to the Hubbard model. Near half filling, as the interaction strength is increased, every state exhibits, at approximately the band width, a crossover closely related to the Mott transition at half filling. The weakly correlated regime corresponds to a Fermi liquid (BCS superconducting) phase, and the strongly correlate regime to a doped Mott insulating phase, in which physics is dominated by singly occupied sites and the doublon-holon binding effect. Properties of cuprates are consistent to those in the latter regime.

    The aim of this research project is to reveal the nature of the pseudo-gap (PG)state in high-Tc cuprates by studying the local structure of hidden order-parameters around vortex cores and stripe states. We find that a stripe-like modulating d-wave RVB state can be a meta-stable state in the bulk systems, and a plausible candidate of the PG state.

    本研究では、ナノスケールで制御された希土類系磁性体の結晶粒間の磁気的相互作用を微視的立場から定量的に把握するため、以下の項目を研究目的とする。 1.種々の希土類金属間化合物のバルク状態での磁気モーメント、磁気異方性エネルギーおよび交換相互作用エネルギーを、密度汎関数法に基づく電子状態の第一原理計算から明らかにする。 2.希土類金属間化合物と他の磁性体の界面における磁気構造と交換相互作用を第一原理計算から調べ、ナノコンポジット磁性体の磁気特性を明らかにする。 ここでは、局所スピン密度汎関数法に基づく電子状態の第一原理計算から、Nd_2Fe_<14>X(X=B,C,N,O)のバルク状態およびbcc-Feとの積層構造における磁気特性を評価し、以下の結果を得た。 1)Nd_2Fe_<14>X(X=B,C,N,O)の磁気モーメントは、ほぼXの原子番号の増加とともに大きくなることが示された。特に、X=OにおけるOの磁気モーメントはFeと平行になるという特異的な結果が得られた。2)Feモーメント間の交換相互作用Jijの値はほぼ15meV前後の値であり、同一c面内にあるFe原子間のJijは20meV前後になっていることがわかった。3)結晶場パラメータA^0_2に、Nd自身の価電子雲(5d,6s)の寄与を考慮することでA^0_2は正となり、Nd_2Fe_<14>Bの磁化容易軸方向がc軸であるという実験事実と整合する結果が得られた。但し、本計算の近似の範囲では、A^0_2は実測値の2〜3倍程度の値を示しており、今後の検討課題として残された。4)α-Feの(110)面とNd_2Fe_<14>Bの(100)面を接合した積層構造において、接合の面間距離が1.9Å以下では磁化が反平行結合とになる可能性があることが示された。

    Recent STM/S experiments in Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_<8+δ> (BSCCO) have revealed the existence of nanoscale inhomogeneities, that is, a pattern of patches of two different regions with relatively small and large gap. The most prominent features of the inhomogeneities are (i) the pseudogap phase-like spectra in the large gap regions, (ii) spatially homogeneous subgap spectra both in the small and large gap regions, and (iii) appearance of the unidirectional long-range charge density order. It is suggested that out-of-plane disorder, which is inevitably introduced into cuprates to dope charge carriers, is responsible for the inhomogeneity and the gap structures. The inhomogeneity itself generates intense interest in high-Tc, physics. Moreover, we expect that observations of inhomogeneity may help reveal unsolved problems in this field for which not even a qualitative theoretical explanation is so far available based on homogeneous theoretical models. Therefore, it is important to investigate the inhomogeneity, especially from the viewpoint of the nature of the large gap region. Motivated by these backgrounds, we study spatially modulated d-wave superconducting states in the two-dimensional t-t'-t"-J model within the Bogoliubov-de Gennes theory based on an extended Gutzwiller approximation. We find fully self-consistent solutions involving domain walls with vanishing pairing amplitudes Δ separated by four lattice spacing when the system is about 12.5% hole doping, while 5 at about 15%. The adjacent superconducting domains are in the anti-phase patterns, that is, the relative phase difference between them is π. The Δ=0 domain walls involve concentration of mobile holes due to the loss of the condensation energy. We also find that the superconducting coherence peaks at the energy of the d-wave gap in the local densities of states are strongly suppressed in these states with anti-phase superconducting domain structures.
