    <p>In this paper, we discuss the possibility of video streaming simply recorded "chalk and talk" lectures as review materials via LMS. We have recorded chalk and talk lectures in a course conducted by the first author and streamed them as review materials over the Internet via the LMS of our university for several years. On reviewing the view history of the videos, we found that more than 10％ of the students accessed the videos of the course, as the LMS became widely used among the students, and even some of the students accessed every single video. Therefore, in this study, we investigated how often students watched the lecture videos of the course. We also surveyed student evaluations of it, their purpose for watching the lecture videos, and how they watched them. We found that most of the students browsed parts of the lectures of which they felt they had some difficulty in understanding or where they wanted to learn more. Finally, we confirmed the possibility of video streaming lectures via LMS, as review materials, even if they were simply recorded videos of conducted lectures.</p>

    The current authors previously proposed and utilized a 3-phase learning process that included a web-based review to facilitate effective blended learning of Chinese as a second foreign language. The authors have also focused on motivation fostered by e-learning materials as a way to increase the desire to learn. The current study develops guidelines for the design of motivational e-learning materials in Blended Learning based on the ARCS model. An experiment was conducted using the e-learning materials and a survey was also conducted regarding the developed motivational design guidelines that they were based on. The survey results indicated that the learners evaluated the e-learning materials positively, thus the guidelines have feasibility for implementation.

    This study is intended to develop a methodology for improving quality of teaching, using information technology. We proposed a teacher reflection method by presenting differences between the original lesson plan and actual instructions. Experimental reflective activities confirmed that the presentation of differences is useful as a trigger for recalling the class events. Moreover, when the teacher used our method, the main targets of reflection were his process of decision-making and modifications of the original plan, while he mainly reflected on his action or behavior itself with video-reviewing.

    In this paper, we propose a double loop instructional design process model which takes into account in-class modifications of instructional plan. In order to cope with unexpected in-class learners' reactions, differ from existing models, our model prescribes the modifications and redesigns next class with the result of them. Experimental classes for evaluating validity and effectiveness of our model confirmed that the instructions which are modified during a class are planned for next class, and they did not tend to be modified as compared with other instructions. Thus, it seems to reflect the actuality further more.

    We have tried distant physics class through the broadband network for high school students, which used a big machine: an ion accelerator at Tohoku University, and emphasized the body experiences. In this paper, we describe a process of that planning in detail. We took special strategies to fill the students' cognitive gap due to the absence of the machine and its complexity. Overall, the result showed the feasibility of the distant class.

    This paper describes a process model for designing and implementing instruction using various multimedia instructional materials. Our model takes a scenario-based approach as its central concept. It conceptualizes the whole process of evolving multimedia instructional material as a double-loop of activities in which teachers and students work together to enrich it. The external loop comprises planning, implementing, checking and evaluating instruction, whereas the internal loop is made up of its implementation, verification, and modification. We provide a formal definition of the scenario used in the double-loop model and illustrate an example of how scenarios are used in the model. We also explain our instruction system, which facilitates activities in the double-loop model. The evaluation of our instruction system shows that the use of IMPRESSION is acceptable in class room.

    In order to facilitate teachers to reduce the cost of preparing teaching materials in various multi-media and do flexible and effective lecture using these materials in a class, we propose an interactive presentation system. With this system, teachers are able to share the materials on the network, present them interactively responding to questions and interests of students. In addition, it records these presentations in XML data, provide them via the network, and students are able to attend the classes from distance or review the lectures afterwards. Teachers are also able to reuse them for instructional designing of next lectures.

    This paper proposes a method to create a lecture video content easily from chalk and talk lecture video captured by a fixed HD camera for learning and teacher reflection. The proposing method is composed of the following process, (1) key areas of lecturer and characters are extracted from only each frame image, (2) vide scene is defined as the start of writing on the blackboard and the wipe of the blackboard, which is detected automatically from time change of character area and (3) learning-friendly lecture video is created. The experimental results show that the proposed method can detect video scenes with high accuracy and create a video content, which is easy to watch even in low-resolution, using a representative image of the scene.

    令和３(2021)年度は、ウィズコロナに対応し、さらにポストコロナを見据えて、これまで提案・実践してきた３段階学習プロセスのブレンディッドラーニング（以下BL）を見直し、新たに２段階学習プロセスのBLを提案するとともに、新BLにおける会話復習用AI（人工知能）アプリ教材の位置づけを再検討することで、本教材の練習形式を調整し、練習分量を再設計した。 具体的には、これまでの３段階学習プロセスの「段階１：通常の対面授業、段階２：授業後スマートフォン利用の復習、段階３：次回授業の確認テスト・発展学習」に対し、新２段階学習プロセスでは、「段階１：オンデマンド型授業およびスマートフォン利用の練習、段階２：対面授業によるアクティブ・ラーニング」からなり、よりオンライン学習を強化したBLとなっている。こうした進化したBLモデルにより、オンデマンド型授業でのインプット学習、スマートフォンアプリ教材での定着練習、対面授業でのアウトプット活動を融合した効果的・効率的なBLの実現が期待できる。 BLモデルの進化に伴い、本AI（人工知能）アプリ教材は、その位置づけが復習用から定着練習用に変わることにより重要度を増した。すなわち、昨令和２(2020)年度で明らかにしたAI（人工知能）アプリ教材の設計手法に基づいて、本教材の会話練習の形式を自由会話からロールプレーに変更し、学習者の発話を音声認識AIで可視化して、正誤判定を行うとともに、本教材のすべての練習量を３割増やすことで、オンデマンド授業の学習内容の確実な定着を図っている。 以上、BLモデルをよりオンライン化させ、本教材の練習分量を増やすことで、ウィズ／ポストコロナに対応した効果的な教材の開発が期待できる。

    In order to enable students to review in line with the progress of face-to-face classes, we developed a smartphone review material and a web application for visualizing the review status in line with the units of the textbook. The smartphone review materials were designed to visualize the review status and to display the review status of other learners in the same class, so that learners themselves can grasp the progress of the class and the review status up to that point. In the web application for visualizing the reviewing status, we incorporated selectiong functions by purpose into the design so that the instructor can grasp the reviewing progress in a short time, and also devised a way to make the operation quicker.

    Based on a model of a 3-phase learning process for blended learning (BL) devised by the current authors, the current study facilitated a shift from e-learning of basic Chinese on a PC in university to learning on a smartphone. In specific terms, this study proposed guidelines for devising review materials to facilitate BL on smartphones based on microlearning and the principles behind it, this study developed an educational app based on microlearning, and this study constructed a learning management system. Actual implementation of that approach indicated that students’ motivation to learn was sustained and that students reviewed material after class; students were effectively encouraged to review material, with a particular emphasis on speaking. These findings confirmed that a ubiquitous learning environment can be created in conjunction with face-to-face classes.

    In this study, we developed the sustainable instruction and learning process model by integration of double loop instructional process model as a progressive instructional design process model and 3 phase learning process model for effective blended learning we have proposed, and clarified required specification of the information system to facilitate such a process. We also clarified that it is effective to assign home assignments especially based on micro learning, and it is possible to predict academic performance of students and give advice to individual students or improve instructional design based on it by analyzing details of learning records of home assignments.

    In recent years, chance of the text based communications between a teacher and a student in face-to-face lessons has increased. Especially, Shuttle-type Communication (SC) is expected to improve students' willingness to learn. But, the communication strategy for a effective SC is not clear. Therefore, in this research, we tried to collect SC data in actual class and analyze SC data qualitatively. However, we confirmed that there is no qualitative data analysis method suitable for SC data. Therefore, we developed the KeyPaSS as a QDA method for SC data. The qualitative data analysis method is still an immature method compared to quantitative data analysis method. So development of KeyPaSS required a lot of time for trial and error and discussion. As a result, the communication strategy has yet to be clarified. We are planning to continue research to clarify the communication strategy by applying KeyPaSS to SC data.

    Higher education institutions increase learners’ chances of learning using lecture videos on the Web. However, there is concern that simply lecture videos viewing reduces learners’ intellectually appetite, challenging and so on. We consider that the concern will be solved by function that superimpose text comments sent by learners on the lecture video and crawl the comments from right to left on the video screen. In this study, we have investigated whether the function enhance learning effect. We have developed a system with the function and performed learning experiments using the system. As a result of the experiments, we have verified that learners do not send the comments much and also do not send its that stimulate other learners intellectually. So, the leaner has not discussed contents of the lecture using the system with other learners. Therefore, we propose new function that learners send the comments following 3 steps: Brainstorming, Expand thinking, and Make conclusion.

    In this study, we developed the methodology that facilitate us to manage instructional plans and teaching materials, to store and review conducted lessons, and to reuse a part of them based on a double loop instructional design process model as a progressive instructional design process model we have proposed. We investigated the effectiveness and feasibility of our methodology through experiments with the system we have developed based on the proposing methodology. And, we also extend a target to lessons for language learning, which require more advanced interaction among teacher and students, discuss learning process and designing policy of teaching materials for such lessons, and clarify the applicability of our proposing instructional design process model.

    Computer Mediated Communications (CMC) that use E-mail, the chat, the blog, and SNS (Social Networking Service), etc, have increased. However, the previous work points out that there are various problems in CMC. In this study, it was thought that CMC relied on neither one's own style nor rule of thumb but had to improve the ability of CMC based on scientific grounds. Then, in this study, first of all, the message of CMC was assumed as a composition of three kinds of information on a verbal-information, para-information, and non-verbal-information. Next, it tried to clarify the change in utterance person's impression in the interpersonal computer mediated communication. And, it aimed to construct the learning support system to develop CMC ability based on those grounds.

    本研究では,東北大学工学部量子科学館加速器を大型実験装置の例として,高度にITを活用した高校生向きの科学実践型課外授業を開発し,SSH高校生に最適なプログラムのモデル:ブレンディングモデルを開発実践した.大型実験装置現場での授業:実地授業を中心として,導入学習としての事前eラーニング遠隔授業,締めくくりの学習としての事後遠隔リアルタイム授業の3部構成を開発し実践で検証した. 授業の目標は、体験目標:加速器の運転、ビーム照射、物質の変化体験.向上目標:学んだ(学ぶ)知識の総合的運用,『エネルギー』と『物質』(原子・イオン)の2つのキー概念で理解.先端的な装置の研究や実用の活用について体験的に理解.達成目標:用いるイオン加速器のシステムとしての構造や構成を理解し加速器を運転することで身体的に獲得する.17年度は埼玉県SSH2年生〜20人、18年度は山口県SSH3年生2人加えて実施された。事前,実地は東北大学のオープンキャンパスを含む夏休み時期に独立に,事後は合同で11月下旬にJGN2を利用して実施した.生徒達の高い加速器概念獲得状況の確認と、アンケート調査等により良好な評価を得た。 キーは,生徒たちにとって難解な加速器を"分かる"状態に導くことと、同時にある種"分からない"状態も作り,好奇心,探索心を誘起させ,努力する気持ちを惹起させること.つまり、既習知識の活用の場面と新知識獲得への挑戦的文脈を実践的に用意した.大型装置は存在感があるが,それを生徒達が理解し,運転し,使い,関連する多様な生起現象を思考する身体的実験環境は,科学的論理的思考の基礎となる対象の科学的認識モデル形成を自然に促進する.大学の大型実験装置,教員,院生,それらの活動や思考や説明との接触は,"異文化"との濃厚な接触であり,将来の創造性,独創性発揮(直観や洞察)によい影響を与えると確信する.

  14. Web上の共有教材による双方向対話型インストラクションシステムの開発に関する研究

    本年度は、これまで開発を進めてきたインストラクションシステムであるIMPRESSIONを利用した、柔軟で効果的な授業の設計、実施、評価の実現のために、1.授業計画記述方式と授業レビュー手法の開発、ならびに2.実装システムによる評価実験を実施した。 1では、(1)対話的な教材提示と授業計画の修正が可能な授業計画記述方式、(2)授業計画と記録された授業実施内容の差異抽出アルゴリズム、ならびに(3)抽出された差異に基づく授業レビュー手法の開発を行なった。その結果、複数のマルチメディア教材の対話的な提示を含む授業計画を記述可能とするとともに、IMPRESSIONによる授業実施記録を利用した授業設計と実施結果の差異自動抽出手法を明らかにし、また、抽出された差異に基づき確認すべき箇所の侯補を明示した授業ふり返り資料の作成手法とこれによる授業レビュー手法を明らかにした。 また2では、提案手法および開発したシステムの有効性確認のためにIMPRESSIONを実授業に適用し、かつ、1で開発した授業レビュー手法を利用した授業設計、実施、評価の繰り返しによる教授設計プロセスの評価実験を行った。その結果、本研究で提案するダブルループ教授設計プロセスモデルに基づき、共有マルチメディア教材データの対話的な提示による柔軟で効果的な授業の実施を可能とするとともに、授業設計の改善、高度化を支援可能であることを確認した。 しかしながら本年度は、研究代表者の長期海外出張のために、急遼9月末日で研究を打ち切りとし、当初予定した授業設計支援機能および授業評価支援機能、ならびに授業コンテンツ発見のための検索エンジンの実装を完了することができなかった。これらは、今後の研究開発の中で継続的に実現していく予定としている。

    In this research project, content of Instructional Systems at graduate-level courses were analyzed and instructional materials were designed and developed as a Foundation for e-Learning to produce educational specialists for e-Learning professionals. More specifically, three courses (2 units each) were designed to offer (1)e-Learning Fundamentals, in which quality of e-Learning is discussed from instructional design perspectives, (2)e-Learning Management, in which ADDIE processes were to be handled for effective and efficient utilization of e-Learning interventions from users' point of view, and (3)e-Learning Design, in which analysis and design phases were discussed in depth from creators' point of view. First course, e-Learning Fundamentals was initially offered as an experimental intensive lecture via Space Collaboration System to some 20 receiving universities, where some 140 graduate students, university staffs, and practitioners from business sectors attended to take the course. Certificate of completion was given by e-Learning Consortium Japan (eLC) to those who completed the course successfully. A half-year passed follow-up survey revealed high retention rates of the learned contents and their uses in practical situations. The other two courses were offered as introductory tryout versions at eLC's professional development sessions in the winters of 2004 and 2005. Revisions were suggested based on the reaction data from tryout sessions. As a part of this project, graduate curricula were analyzed for their advanced characteristics, namely competency-based master qualification examination of Florida State University, and story-centered curriculum of Master's program in computer science at Carnegie-Mellon University West Campus. Major part of this project has applied when the first attempt was started at Kumamoto University when they created a master program in Instructional Systems to produce e-Learning specialists focused in instructional design competencies.     The Field of education for disabled children (Watabe, Kumai, Mitsuishi, and Tamekawa) From our ongoing experimental testing of a counseling system, we found the following main types of counseling : 1)diagnosis and assessment, 2)providing basic knowledge, and 3)specification of chief complaints and their needs, and so on. In order to prevent errors, diagnosis and assessment were made in a face-to-face situation. There were also the following three sub-types : 2: a)obtain better understanding (recognition), b)prepare for understanding (recognition) and acceptance, and c)avoid/resolve misunderstandings (misconceptions). The system is equipped with the following two functions : an individualized online counseling service through SSL encrypted communication, and a bulletin board service, in order to provide counseling and knowledge according to the user's (client's) pre-existing knowledge and psychological condition. The Field of Skill Transfer Problem of Traditional Artistic Performances (Ikuta and Mitsuishi) In this research, we tried to compare the traditional method of transmitting cultural based skill, for example, practiced at Ogami Shrine in Aomori, with a practice at Warabiza Art Theater in Akita, which uses some digital tools. As one of the attempts in this research, we held the symposium. The theme of the symposium was ; "Transfer of Skill (Waza) : Is it Analogue or Digital?". In this symposium, we mainly discussed how essential factors tacitly composed in Skill(Waza) can possibly be transmitted without deforming or losing them, by using some digital tools. Also, we discussed how such digital tools can contribute to betterment and efficiency of Skill Transfer system in the future, considering the present situation in Japan. Finally, we agreed that both analogue and digital methods can be utilizable resources for preserving traditional and cultural skill, and we convinced that trough these efforts such traditional and cultural skill as "Kagura dance" can be preserved as important cultural heritage of Japan. The Field of Sport and Physical Education (Kitamura and Mitsuishi) The purpose of this study was to present the frame components of computer counseling system for athletes and coaches. The data was analyzed inductively using qualitative procedures. Results revealed that the whole frame of counseling system comprised three main components and seven internal components. Three main components were ; 1)interpersonal relationship, 2)self-acceptance, and 3)performance. Seven internal components were closeness, co-orientation, complementarity, task orientation, psychological attachment, management, and coaching. The discussion of how the frame components of computer counseling system can be examined and used by athletes and coaches was provided.

    各種情報システムの利用者が、その情報システムの利用目的や興味、関心、習熟の度合等に応じて効果的に利用できるために、昨年度の研究成果に基づき、(1)ユーザ適応UI自動構成システムの実験システムの構築と評価、(2)感性に基づくデータベース検索が可能な情報システムの構築と評価を行った。 (1)では、昨年度の研究成果であるUI自動構成システムの基本設計に基づき、XMLにより記述された情報システムの機能仕様、ユーザインタフェース合成ルール、および情報システムに対する習熟の度合(ユーザモデル)に基づき、ユーザインタフェース定義としての複数種類のHTMLファイルを出力する、ユーザインタフェース合成エンジンの実験システムを実装し、具体的なユーザインタフェースを定義し、生成できることを確認した。また、このUI自動構成システムによる具体的な2種類のユーザインタフェースを構築し、評価実験を行った結果、本研究で提案する手法に基づき、初心者、習熟者それぞれに適応したユーザインタフェースを提供する情報システムを構築できることを確認した。 また(2)では、昨年度の研究成果である情報システムの利用履歴に基づく提供情報の内容特徴推測手法のモデルに基づき、音楽データベース検索システムを例として具体的な実験システムを構築し、その評価実験を行った。さらに、語句により特徴を表現することの難しいデータベースからなる情報システムの効果的な利用のために、媒介変数を用いて利用者の嗜好分析を行い検索結果に反映する感性検索手法を提案し、料理のレシピデータベース検索システムを例として実験システムを構築し、その評価実験を行った。これらの結果から、本研究で提案する感性に基づくデータベース検索を実現し、興味や関心、嗜好に基づき、利用者の要求するデータを効果的に提供する情報システムを構築できることを確認した。 今後、これらの研究成果をもとに、実際のシステムへの適用における課題、精度の向上等の研究を進める予定である。

    講義の実施風景をHD画質で撮影した映像から、受講生間で共有可能な知識や授業の改善・高度化に利用可能な知識を抽出するための手法、ならびにそのための技術開発に関して研究を行い、板書型授業における板書内容の抽出とこれによるシーン分割手法を開発するとともに、その応用として板書内容に基づき授業の部分視聴を可能とする再生システムを開発した。
