$\Xi^-$ atomic X-ray spectroscopy is one of the most useful methods for investigation of the $\Xi$-nucleus strong interaction. Since the X-ray energy is shifted and/or broadened due to the $\Xi$-nucleus strong interaction compared to those calculated from electromagnetic interaction alone, the measurement of the energy shift, $\Delta$E, and the width, $\Gamma$, give us information on the $\Xi$-nucleus potential. A serious problem in the measurement is the significant background derived from in-flight $\Xi^-$ decay. A novel method of identifying stopped $\Xi^-$ events using the nuclear emulsion was developed to realize the first $\Xi^-$ atomic X-ray spectroscopy experiment as the J-PARC E07 experiment, which also aimed at searching for $\Lambda\Lambda$ and $\Xi^-$ hypernuclei in the emulsion. The X-rays emitted from $\Xi^-$ Br and $\Xi^-$ Ag atoms were measured using germanium detectors. No clear peaks were observed in the obtained spectra. However, we succeeded in reducing the background to 1/170 by this method employing coincidence measurements using nuclear emulsion and X-ray detectors.

A project to study high-density nuclear matter using heavy ion collisions in a beam energy range of few GeV is being prepared at J-PARC. The goal of the project is to perform experiments with beam energies of 1-12 AGeV/c and the collision rate of 1011 Hz. The project is divided into two phases. For the first stage, measurements with a limited beam intensity will be performed with upgraded spectrometer of an on-going experiment. Full performance will be implemented at the second phase to study in detail the high density matter and light hypernuclei. Feasibility of measurements for both phases are being evaluated.

A new hyperon-proton scattering experiment, dubbed J-PARC E40, was performed to measure differential cross sections of the Σ+p, Σp elastic scatterings and the Σp → Λn scattering by identifying a lot of Σ particles in the momentum ranging from 0.4 to 0.8 GeV/c produced by the π±p → K+Σ± reactions. We successfully measured the differential cross sections of these three channels with a drastically improved accuracy with a fine angular step. These new data will become important experimental constraints to improve the theories of the two-body baryon-baryon interactions. Following this success, we proposed a new experiment to measure the differential cross sections and spin observables by using a highly polarized Λ beam for providing quantitative information on the ΛN interaction. The results of three Σp channels and future prospects of the Λp scattering experiment are described.

We performed a novel $\Sigma^+p$ scattering experiment at the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility. Approximately 2400 $\Sigma^+p$ elastic scattering events were identified from $4.9 \times 10^7$ tagged $\Sigma^+$ particles in the $\Sigma^+$ momentum range 0.44 - 0.80 GeV/c. The differential cross sections of the $\Sigma^+p$ elastic scattering were derived with much better precision than in previous experiments. The obtained differential cross sections were approximately 2 mb/sr or less, which were not as large as those predicted by the fss2 and FSS models based on the quark cluster model in the short-range region. By performing phase-shift analyses for the obtained differential cross sections, we experimentally derived the phase shifts of the $^3S_1$ and $^1P_1$ channels for the first time. The phase shift of the 3S1 channel, where a large repulsive core was predicted owing to the Pauli effect between quarks, was evaluated to be $20^\circ<|\delta_{^3S_1}|<35^\circ$. If the sign of $\delta_{^3S_1}$ is assumed to be negative, the interaction in this channel is moderately repulsive, as the Nijmegen extended-sort-core models predicted.

The J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility was constructed with an aim to explore the origin and evolution of matter in the universe through experiments with intense particle beams. In the past decade, many results from particle and nuclear physics experiments have been obtained at the present facility. To expand the physics programs to as yet unexplored regions, the extension project of the Hadron Experimental Facility has been extensively discussed. This contribution presents the physics of the extension of the Hadron Experimental Facility to resolve issues related to strangeness nuclear physics, hadron physics, and flavor physics.

X-ray spectroscopy of hadronic atoms is a powerful method to study strong interaction between hadrons and nuclei. At J-PARC, we have conducted two experiments, J-PARC E07 and E03, for hadronic atoms with a doubly strange hyperon, Ξ, aiming at the world-first detection of their X-rays. The first measurement is performed as a byproduct of J-PARC E07 experiment with the hybrid emulsion technique. The second one, J-PARC E03, is a dedicated experiment for detection of Ξ Fe atom X rays. The preliminary results and the present status of E07 and E03 are shown in this article. Future prospects of Ξ-atomic X-ray spectroscopy are also discussed. A new measurement has been proposed for detecting Ξ C atom X rays, where a novel Ξ tracking method will be applied to realize an improved signal to noise ratio.

We present a new proposal, J-PARC E90, to measure a missing-mass spectrum near the ΣN threshold for the d(K, π) reactions at 1.4 GeV/c. While many previous experiments support apparent enhancement near the ΣN thresh-old, the dynamical origin of this so-called “ΣN cusp” remains yet unsolved. The enhancement suggests either a cusp structure or a weakly bound state. One of the keys to making it clear is improving the missing-mass resolution and statistics. Our new experiment can achieve the missing-mass resolution of 0.4 MeV in σ using the K1.8 beam line and S-2S spectrometers at J-PARC. Further-more, we can suppress quasi-free background processes with the time projection chamber (HypTPC), which operated nicely for the H-dibaryon search experi-ment (J-PARC E42). The J-PARC E90 aims to extract the scattering length of the ΣN system with isospin T = 1/2 and spin-triplet channels.

J-PARC E07 is the most ambitious and complex emulsion experiment to date investigating double hypernuclei with Hybrid emulsion method. The physics run at the K1.8 beam line in the J-PARC hadron experimental facility have been completed in 2017. The emulsion sheets are presently being analyzed with dedicated optical microscopes. Current statistics are estimated to be more 3 times than that of previous experiments. Quantitative data on the $\Lambda \Lambda$ and $\Xi N$ interaction are being accumulated successfully via analysis of double $\Lambda$ and $\Xi$ hypernuclei. Multiple $\Xi$ hypernucleus candidates suggests several features about $\Xi$ hypernucleus that the identification efficiency of $^{15}_\Xi$C is significantly higher than other mode, many daughters of $^{15}_\Xi$C are identified as He or Be, and multiple bound states of $\Xi^-$ exist in the $^{14}$N nucleus. An analysis of X-ray spectroscopy of $\Xi^-$ hyperatoms are ongoing.

In an emulsion-counter hybrid experiment performed at J-PARC, a $\Xi^-$ absorption event was observed which decayed into twin single-$\Lambda$ hypernuclei. Kinematic calculations enabled a unique identification of the reaction process as $\Xi^{-} + ^{14}$N$\ \rightarrow\ ^{10}_\Lambda$Be + $^5_\Lambda$He. For the binding energy of the $\Xi^{-}$ hyperon in the $\Xi^-$-$^{14}$N system a value of $1.27 \pm 0.21$ MeV was deduced. The energy level of $\Xi^-$ is likely a nuclear $1p$ state which indicates a weak ${\Xi}N$-$\Lambda\Lambda$ coupling.

We performed $\Xi$ hypernuclear spectroscopy with the $(K^-, K^+)$ reaction at J-PARC to investigate the $\Xi N$ interaction (J-PARC E05). A new experiment (J-PARC E70) in which a better energy resolution could be achieved is now being prepared. In this article, an analysis status of J-PARC E05 and a preparation status of J-PARC E70 are described.

A high statistics $\Sigma p$ scattering experiment has been performed at the K1.8 beamline in the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility. Data for momentum-tagged $\Sigma^-$ beam running in a liquid hydrogen target were accumulated by detecting the $\pi^{-}p \to {K}^{+}{\Sigma}^{-}$ reaction with a high intensity $\pi^-$ beam of 20 M/spill. The number of the $\Sigma^-$ beam was about $1.7 \times 10^7$ in total. The $\Sigma^- p$ elastic scattering and the $\Sigma^- p \to \Lambda n$ inelastic scattering events were successfully observed with about 100 times larger statistics than that in past experiments.

We performed a gamma-ray spectroscopy of $({}_{\Lambda}^{19}{\rm F})$ at J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility in 2015. It is the first measurement of $\gamma$ rays emitted from $sd$-shell hypernuclei. In this experiment, we determined the energy spacing between the ground state spin doublet, $3/2^+$ and $1/2^+$ states, as 316 keV. The excitation energies of $5/2^+$ and $1/2^+$ states are also determined to be 895 and 1266 keV, respectively. The energy spacing is found to be well reproduced by shell-model calculations which describe $s$- and $p$-shell $\Lambda$ hypernuclei well. The results show that the present theories of the $\Lambda N$ interaction describe not only the light hypernuclei but also a heavier hypernucleus.

We have developed HypTPC consists of TPC and the trigger hodoscope for the J-PARC hadron experiments. The TPC Hodoscope has large scintillators of 80 $\times$ 7 $\times$ 1 cm$^3$ to cover the TPC. Especially, we have developed a readout circuit for multiple MPPCs to detect photons generated over a large area of the scintillator. A general methods of applying voltage to multiple MPPCs are parallel and series connections. In the case of parallel connections, a signal has a long tail due to the large sensor capacitance. MEG collaboration used four MPPC segments as a serial connection. However, in the case of a series connection, the requiring bias voltage is very high, and the gain is low. To avoid this problem, we have developed a new individual biasing method with a summing amplifier for stable multiple MPPC readouts. We also made prototype detectors and performed a cosmic-ray test. Brief descriptions of our prototypes and preliminary results of the cosmic-ray test are presented in this article.

The first $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy of $sd$-shell hypernucleus, $^{19}_{\Lambda}$F, is performed in June, 2015 at the J-PARC K1.8 beam line (J-PARC E13). Precise energy levels of $^{19}_{\Lambda}$F can be revealed by measured $\gamma$ rays in this experiment. Especially, the strength of $\Lambda N$ spin-spin interaction in $sd$-shell hypernucleus is obtained through the energy spacing of the ground-state doublet of the hypernucleus. By comparing its strength between the $s$, $p$, and $sd$-shell hypernuclei, a radial dependence $\Lambda N$ interaction is investigated. The hypernucleus is produced through the $(K^-,\pi^-)$ reaction with the beam momentum of 1.8 GeV/c. In very preliminary results, we observed two $\gamma$ rays, and their energies are $315.8 \pm 0.4$ keV and $ 895.3 \pm 0.3$ keV where the uncertainties are only statistical.

The present status and future prospects of precision $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy of $\Lambda$ hypernuclei are described. A new experiment (J-PARC E13) has been performed at the J-PARC K1.8 line employing a newly-developed germanium (Ge) detector array, Hyperball-J, via the $(K^-,\pi^-)$ reaction on $^4$He and $^{19}$F targets. This is the first study of $s$-shell and $sd$-shell $\Lambda$ hypernuclei with Ge detectors. The $^4$He target spectrum exhibited a $\gamma$-ray peak of $^4_{\Lambda}{\rm He}(1^+\to 0^+)$ at $1.406 \pm 0.002 \pm 0.002$ MeV. Compared with the energy ($1.09 \pm 0.02$ MeV) of the corresponding transition for the mirror hypernucleus, $^4_{\Lambda}{\rm H}(1^+\to 0^+)$, the present result clearly indicates a large charge symmetry breaking (CSB) effect. This decisive data for CSB allows a stringent test of baryon-baryon interaction models. As for the $^{19}$F target run, a preliminary spectrum shows several $\gamma$-ray peaks assigned to $^{19}_{\Lambda}{\rm F}$ transitions. Future plans of $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy are also discussed.

Although baryon resonances have been studied for a long time, our knowledge on their properties are still limited. Recently a Dynamical-Couple Channel (DCC) model shows there are significant contributions of $(\pi,2\pi)$ reactions to these baryon resonances. However, there are only 240 thousand events of $(\pi, 2\pi)$ reaction data measured in 1970's. Thus, we proposed an experiment E45 to study baryon resonances in $(\pi,2\pi)$ reaction utilizing $10^6$ Hz $\pi$ beams at J-PARC. We aim at clarifying most of baryon mass levels. We measure these reactions in a large acceptance Time Projection Chamber inside a Helmholtz dipole magnet. We will measure these reactions in small momentum steps over a large beam momentum range and perform partial wave analysis to extract properties of each resonance. In this presentation, we will show the experimental design, expected results in simulations, and the status of the detectors.

An interaction between K$^{bar}$ and nucleus is studied by using the X-ray from the kaonic atoms for a long time. However, it is difficult to determine the K$^{bar}$-nucleus interaction by using only kaonic-atoms data because the value of shift and width of the X-ray depend not only the potential depth but also the type of theoretical model. Thus, we study the $\overline{K}$-nucleus interaction by comparing an observed missing-mass spectrum of the $^{12}$C(K$^{-}$, p) reaction with the DWIA calculation. Such a study has already reported from KEK-E548 experiment. However, their experiment is not enough to determine these interaction because they were pointed out about the experimental condition. Thus, we performed the further experiment to take the real spectrum of $^{12}$C(K$^{-}$, p) reaction at J-PARC.

We have carried out an experimental search for the simplest kaonic nucleus, $K^{-}pp$, by using the $d(\pi^{+},K^{+})$ reaction at $p$ = 1.69 GeV/$c$. The differential cross section of this reaction with covering a wide missing-mass range from the $\Lambda$ production threshold to the $\Lambda$(1405)/$\Sigma$(1385) region has been measured for the first time. The inclusive missing-mass shape of the $\Lambda$ and $\Sigma$ production region was understood with a simple quasi-free picture except for an enhancement at 2.13 GeV/$c^{2}$ due to a $\Sigma N$ cusp. An obtained peak attributed to $Y^{*}$ production was significantly shifted to the low mass side compared with the simulation by -24 MeV/$c^{2}$.

A search for the $\Theta^+$ pentaquark in the $\pi^-p \to K^-X$ reaction was performed at the J-PARC Hadron Facility. Two data samples were collected in 2010 and 2012 at $\pi^-$ beam momenta of 1.92 and 2.0 GeV/$c$, respectively. No peak structure was observed in the missing mass spectra obtained from either data set. The upper limit for the production cross section averaged over the scattering-angle range of $2^{\circ}$ to $15^{\circ}$ in the laboratory frame was found to be 0.28 $\mu$b/sr. The decay width of the $\Theta^+$ can be directly connected to the production cross section through a theoretical calculation using an effective Lagrangian. The estimated upper limits of the width were 0.41 and 2.8 MeV for the spin-parities of $1/2^+$ and $1/2^-$, respectively.

A $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy experiment via the $(K^-, \pi^-)$ reaction (J-PARC E13-1st) will be performed at the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility using a newly developed Ge detector array, Hyperball-J. Spin-dependent $\Lambda N$ interactions will be studied through the precise measurement of the structure of hypernuclei, $^4_{\Lambda}$He and $^{19}_{\Lambda}$F. In May 2013, commissioning of whole detector system was carried out and calibration data were taken. In particular, production cross sections of $\Sigma^+$ and $^{12}_{\Lambda}$C via the $(K^-, \pi^-)$ reaction on the CH$_2$ target for $p_K = 1.5$ and 1.8 GeV/$c$ were obtained.

A hypernuclear $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy experiment (E13) will be performed using $K^-$ beam at the K1.8 beam line of the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility in 2015. In this experiment, we will determine the $B(M1)$ value of the $\Lambda$ spin-flip transition of the ground state doublet in $^{19}_{\Lambda}F$ to investigate the magnetic moment of a $\Lambda$ hyperon in nuclei. In order to check the performance of the whole spectrometer system of E13, a commissioning run was performed at the K1.8 beam line in 2013. We confirmed that the E13 setup is almost ready for the next beam time in 2015. In particular, new detectors for suppressing events from the two main $K^-$ decay modes in the on-line and off-line analyses are installed. As a result, the signal to noise ratio of $\gamma$ spectra is drastically improved, and the sensitivity to the $B(M1)$ measurement is expected to increase.

The famed yet elusive H-dibaryon, an exotic quark state ($uuddss$), was predicted several decades ago and also supported by recent Lattice QCD calculations. The E42 experiment has been approved at J-PARC to search for the H-dibaryon with high statistics. A large acceptance hyperon spectrometer with a time projection chamber (TPC) will be used for searching the H-dibaryon from $(K^-, K^+)$ reaction off nuclei via its possible following decays such as $\lambda\lambda$. The E42 experiment has high sensitivity both above and below $\lambda\lambda$ threshold and will be the definitive experiment on the existence of the H-dibaryon, once and for all. Recent progress and achievements of the E42 collaboration will be presented, which include simulations on estimation of TPC performance in the electric field and the magnetic field, testing and optimization of a prototype TPC, and preparation of various detectors.

We develop a TPC (Time Projection Chamber) using GEM (Gas Electron Multiplier) to search for H-dibaryon at J-PARC E42 experiment. We evaluated performance of a small prototype TPC. We performed a long term operation test for one month which is similar term as E42. We suppressed hit position distortion with $\pm$0.2 mm due to ion backflow.

We have measured an inclusive missing-mass spectrum of the $^{12}$C$(K^-, p)$ reaction over wide energy region at the kaon incident momentum of 1.8 GeV/$c$ at J-PARC K1.8 beam line. We have compared the observed missing-mass spectrum with a DWIA calculation to study the $\bar{K}$-nucleus interaction. In this comparison, we have changed the depth of both real and imaginary part of the optical potential between $\bar{K}$ and nucleus. It is found that the observed spectrum is well reproduced by the calculation of the potential depth of $V_0 \sim -100$ MeV (real part) and $W_0 \sim -40$ MeV (imaginary part). On the other hand, we have observed the definitive excess in the deeply bound region $B_{K} > 100$ MeV, which cannot be explained by the any optical potential. This excess can be interpreted as a deeply bound $\Lambda(1405)$ nucleus.

Spectroscopic study of $\Xi$-hypernuclei provides insights into the $\Xi$-$N$ interaction and the $\Xi N \to \Lambda \Lambda$ coupling strength. A missing mass spectroscopy of the $\Xi$-hypernuclei was performed via the $^{12}$C$(K^-,K^+)$ reaction at J-PARC K1.8 beam line in 2015. In this measurement, we have achieved the missing mass resolution 5.4 MeV (FWHM). It is important to achieve a better missing mass resolution. As the next step, we are constructing a new spectrometer S-2S (Strangeness -2 Spectrometer) for the $K^+$. In this condition, the total missing-mass resolution would be affected mainly due to the target energy loss straggling. To reduce energy loss straggling in the target, we are developing an active target composed of scintillating fibers. Construction of the magnets and most parts of detectors for S-2S has been completed. It will soon be ready for installation in J-PARC K1.8.

また、接続方法として、直列接続, NIM Mixer, Individual(接続なしでoff-line解析で平均化)を使用したデータを取得した。

An interaction between K$^{\rm bar}$ and nucleus is studied by using the X-ray from the kaonic atoms for a long time. However, it is difficult to determine the K$^{bar}$-nucleus interaction by using only kaonic-atoms data because the value of shift and width of the X-ray depend not only the potential depth but also the type of theoretical model. Thus, we study the K$^{\rm bar}$-nucleus interaction by comparing an observed missing-mass spectrum of the $^{12}$C($K^{-}, p$) reaction with the DWIA calculation. Such a study has already reported from KEK-E548 experiment. However, their experiment is not enough to determine these interaction because they were pointed out about the experimental condition. Thus, we performed the further experiment to take the real spectrum of $^{12}$C($K^{-}, p$) reaction at J-PARC.

+21-30 (syst.) MeV/c2、162 +87-45 (stat.) +66-78 (syst.) +30-21 (syst.)

We have carried out a pilot data taking of the J-PARC E05 experiment to search for the bound state peaks of $^{12}_{\Xi}$Be in the $^{12}$C$(K^-,K^+)X$ reaction at 1.8 GeV/$c$. The measurement was performed at the K1.8 beam line of the J-PARC hadron experimental hall with a typical $K^-$ beam intensity of $6 \times 10^5$ every six seconds. So far the best energy resolution of about 6 MeV FWHM was achieved with the existing SKS spectrometer. With a reasonable statistics, we have succeeded to observe peak structures in the bound region, which seems to suggest that the potential depth of $\Xi$ would be deeper than 14 MeV estimated in the previous measurements.

However, it is difficult to determine the K$^{bar}$-nucleus interaction by using only X-ray because the value of shift and width of X-ray is not only the potential depth but also the type of theoretical model. Thus, we plan to study it from the other way. In this study, we measure the missing-mass spectrum of the C(K$^{-}$, p) reaction at J-PARC and compare it with the DWIA calculation. Such kind of study have already reported from an experiment at Proton Synchrotron (E548). However, their spectrum is not inclusive one but semi-inclusive one, which is required at least one charged particle hit by their decay counter. Therefore, it is point out that this requirement can distort the inclusive spectrum. In our experiment, we will carry out the inclusive missing-mass spectroscopy by measuring only the K$^{-}$ and proton's momenta. Furthermore, we plan to install the decay counter to check whether at least one charged particle hit distort it or not.

While the existence of kaonic nuclei has been intensively studied both theoretically and experimentally, there is no conclusive result establishing its existence. Here, we have searched for the $K^-pp$, a bound state of a $K^-$ with two protons, in the $d(\pi^+, K^+)$ reaction at 1.69 GeV/$c$ at J-PARC K1.8 beam line with a missing-mass resolutionof 2.7 MeV/$c^2$(FWHM). In this reaction, the $K^-pp$ is assumed to be produced as $\Lambda(1405)$ as a doorwaysuch as $\pi^+n \to K^+\Lambda^*$, $\Lambda^*p \to K^-pp$.Since the sticking probability of the $\Lambda^*$ on proton would not be so large, coincidence of high-momentum ($>$ 250 MeV/$c$) proton(s) in large emission angles ($39^\circ<\theta_{lab.}<122^\circ$) was requested to enhance the signal-to-background ratio. We have obtained an inclusive $(\pi^+, K^+)$ spectrum in a wide missing-mass range from $\Lambda$, $\Sigma$ to $\Lambda(1405)$/$\Sigma(1385)$, for the first time. A proton coincidence spectrum shows a large proton-emission probability at around 2.27 GeV/$c^2$ as a broad bump. It might be attributed to the $K^-pp$ production. A study of decay branch suggests non-mesonic decays of $\Lambda N$and $\Sigma N$ are dominant rather than mesonic decays.

Kaonic nuclei are the bound state of kaon and nucleus. A K-pp is expected to be the simplest kaonic nucleus. We search for a K-pp in the d($\pi$$^{+}$, K$^{+}$) reaction at 1.7 GeV/c at the J-PARC K1.8 beam line. However, the production cross section of a K-pp is estimated to be very small and there are many background processes from quasi-free hyperon production. A range counter array (RCA) was constructed to detect the two high-momentum ($>$ 250 MeV/c) proton from a decay of a K-pp bound state and in order to reduce these quasi-free background processes. We took the physics data in 2012 as the first phase, and we obtained d($\pi$$^{+}$, K$^{+}$)X missing mass spectrum for the first time. In this data, 3.3$\times$10$^{11}$ pions were incident on the liquid deuterium target. The global shape of missing mass is understandable. However, a significant ($\sim$ 40 MeV) shift in the Y$^{*}$ region compared with a simulation is observed and a cusp structure at the $\Sigma$ N threshold is clearly observed.

The TPC has octagonal prism shape drift volume with about 50 cm diameter with 55 cm drift length filled with Ar-CH$_{4}$ (90:10) gas. At the end of the drift volume, 3-layer GEMs are equipped. In order to analyze momenta of produced particles, the TPC is applied with 1 T dipole magnetic field parallel to the drift electric field with a superconducting Helmholz magnet. In order to maximize the acceptance of H-dibaryon events, a diamond target is installed inside the TPC drift volume, in a cylindrical hole opened from the top to the middle of the drift volume. Since extremely high-rate $K^-$ beam is directly injected into the TPC drift volume to the target, a gating grid and GEMs are adopted to suppress positive-ion feedback.

On the other hand, KEK-E224, E522 experiments observed a peak near the $\Lambda\Lambda$ invariant mass spectrum, which suggests existence of H-dibaryon. We are now developing a new time projection chamber (TPC) surrounding a target to measure the emitted particles of short flight lengths under a high beam rate. The prototype of the TPC with GEM readout has been developed. The effective area is about 100mm $\times$ 100mm $\times$ 300mm (drift direction) and Beam particles go through the TPC perpendicular to the drift direction. A signal is amplified with three layers of GEM sheet and read out with anode pads of various sizes for the study of the TPC properties. The goal of particle rate at the TPC is over $10^7$ Hz. In order to operate under such high counting rate, we adopted a gating grid opened by an appropriate trigger. We have tested the TPC by using an electron beam at the Research Center for Electron Photon Science, Tohoku University. We report the results of the test experiment.

Recently, we have proposed a new experiment (J-PARC P90 experiment) to measure the missing-mass spectrum around the $\Sigma N$ threshold in the d(K$^{-}$, $\pi^{-}$) reaction at 1.4 GeV/c. A clear enhancement was observed near the $\Sigma$ N threshold, so called "$\Sigma$N cusp", for a long time ago. However, the dynamical origin of this enhancement remains unclear as yet. Especially, whether "$\Sigma$N cusp", is cusp or unstable bound state has not been determined yet. One of the key to make it clear is to improve the missing-mass resolution and statistics. In this experiment, we can achieve the missing-mass resolution of 0.4 MeV in $\sigma$ by using K1.8 beam line and S-2S spectrometers at J-PARC. Moreover, we will additionally install the time projection chamber (HypTPC), which was developed for the other J-PARC experiment (E42: H-dibaryon search), to suppress quasi-free backgrounds by detecting the charged tracks of the decay products. We can deduce the scattering length of $\Sigma$N system with isospin T = 1/2 and spin triplet channel in this experiment.

We are developing Hyperon Spectrometer for the J PARC experiments. The Hyperon Spectrometer consists of a large acceptance super conductingdipole magne, a Time Projection Chamber (HypTPC and a TPC hodo scope). HypTPC measures the trajectory of charged particles in three dimension with high precision of 250 um. Then, we can achieve a good momentum resolution. By using this powerful detector, we propose three experiments at J PARC to search for the new hadronic state.

Hyperon-nucleon scattering experiment is one of the powerful methods for studying YN interaction. However, it is difficult due to short lifetime of hyperon. $\Sigma N$ scattering experiments were performed as KEK E251 and KEK E289 in order to measure the differential cross sections. In these experiments, statistics were limited to less than 100 events and differential cross section had too large statistical errors to restrict baryon-baryon interaction models. J-PARC E40 experiment aims for measuring cross sections of $\Sigma p$ scatterings with high statistics ($ \sim $10000 events) by overcoming difficulties of hyperon-nucleon scattering experiment. By using high rate ($\sim$ 19M /spill) $\pi$ beam and large acceptance spectrometer, we can produce and tag large amount of $\Sigma$ beam. LH$_2$ target and surrounding detector system CATCH enable us to reconstruct reactions from two body kinematics. Our experimental group completed $\Sigma^-$ data taking and about half of $\Sigma^+$ data taking by 2019 Apr. Left data taking will be performed in the end of this fiscal year.

We have measured a real inclusive missing-mass spectrum of the $^{12}$C(K$^{-}$, p) reactio at the kaon incident momentum of 1.8 GeV/c. This data was taken as a by-product measurement of the J-PARC E05 pilot run, which aim to search for the $\Xi$-hypernuclei by using $^{12}$C(K$^{-}$, K$^{+}$) reaction at J-PARC K1.8 beam line. We have compared the observed missing-mass spectrum with a DWIA calculation to discuss the K$^{bar}$-nucleus interaction. In this comparison, we have changed the depth of both real and imaginary part of the optical potential between K$^{bar}$ and nucleus. It is found that the observed spectrum is well reproduced by the calculation of the potential depth of V0 is about -80 MeV (real part) and W0 is about -40 MeV (imaginary part). On the other hand, we have observed the definitive excess in the deeply bound region BK $>$ 100 MeV. This excess cannot be explained by the any optical potential. Then, it can be interpreted as a deeply bound state between $\Lambda$(1405) and $^{10}$Be.

We will present status of developments of these detectors.

  61. J-PARC E27 experiment to search for a $K^-pp$ bound state International-presentation

    2nd International Symposium on Science at J-PARC (J-PARC 2014)

An antikaon and a nucleus may form a bound state (a kaonic nucleus), due to the strong attraction of K$^{\rm bar}$-N in I=0. A $K^-pp$ bound state, which is the bound state of an antikaon and two nucleons, with the total charge +1 and the isospin 1/2, is expected to be the simplestkaonic nucleus. Various theoretical calculations for a $K^-pp$ bound state have been carried out and the existence of the bound state is supported in these calculations. However, the binding energy and the decay width depend on the K$^{\rm bar}$-N interactions and the calculation methods. Several experiments have been performed to look for a signal of kaonic nuclei. However, any firm experimental evidence has not been found. An experimental search for the $K^-pp$ bound state is performed by using the $d(\pi^+, K^+)$ reaction at J-PARCK 1.8 beam line (J-PARC E27 experiment). The first data taking as a pilot run was carried out in June, 2012. The missing-mass spectrum of this reaction studied at the beam momentum of 1.7 GeV/$c$, which allows the production of $\Lambda (1405)$, was obtained for the first time and a significant peak shift by $\sim$30 MeV was observed in the $Y^*$ region. In a preliminary proton-coincidence analysis, a sharp spike due to the $\Sigma N$-$\Lambda N$ coupling and a broad enhancement around 2.3 GeV/$c^2$, which might be attributed to the $K^-pp$ bound state, was clearly observed.

We develop the Time Projection Chamber "HypTPC". The main goal of this research is to improve the high rate capability of TPC more than 10^7 Hz. We use the Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) for the electron amplification. Here, we developed the new type GEM called as "Mask-GEM". In case of this "Mask-GEM" system, we can mask only the beam trajectory region. After installing the "Mask-GEM" to HypTPC, we carried out the test experiment at ELPH by using positron beam. Then, we confirmed that "Mask-GEM" worked well. In July of 2018, we will do the final test experiment at HIMAC by using proton beam.
