  1. Corruption disclosure and its impact on labour‐related actions 査読有り

    Abstract Our paper aims to explore the profound impact of corruption‐related injustices on organized labour actions. Focusing on China's anti‐corruption campaign, we utilize a city–month panel and a difference‐in‐differences approach to identify the causal impact of corruption disclosure on labour collective actions. Our findings indicate a significant increase in labour unrest incidents following each additional reported investigation of governmental officials. Further analysis reveals that this impact is not driven by sophisticated governmental tolerance or repression of collective actions, but is particularly pronounced in non‐state‐owned enterprises compared to their state‐owned counterparts. The mechanisms through which the negative impact of corruption disclosure on labour unrest occurs include a negative impact of corruption disclosure on inequality perceptions and trust in government, as well as detrimental effects on the profitability and operation of employers.

    Consensus on the impact of information-oriented use of social media on political participation is lacking. Some argue a positive relationship, in that social media promotes participation through awakening the user’s agency, while others focus on the selection and disenabling effects of low-quality content. Nevertheless, both arguments focus almost exclusively on the objective conditions for participation and largely ignore users’ motivations to participate. Consequently, this article proposes online political efficacy as a mechanism linking the use of social media to political participation. Specifically, we argue that (1) the effect of the information-oriented use of social media on political participation is positively mediated through the user’s online political efficacy and (2) this mediation effect is only significant in the case of online political participation. We test these arguments within the framework of causal mediation analysis proposed by Imai et al. using data collected from the 2015 Taiwan Communication Survey.

    本研究課題の交付を受けた2020 年8 月31 日から2021 年度末までは、6 つの研究テーマそれぞれの研究を遂行しつつ、それらの進捗状況、及び、研究成果を研究会等で共有しながら、全体の研究課題を推進した。初年度は、共同研究のための環境整備を進めつつ、個々の研究者・研究テーマに関する情報を個別打ち合わせ、及び、経済産業研究所で開催した研究会等で共有した。2021 年度も引き続き研究会を通じて各研究テーマの進捗状況を共有しつつ、それぞれの研究テーマの推進を行った。これまで、研究会を6回開催し、各回においては、研究分担者及び研究協力者との研究成果の報告に加えて、外部からの専門家を招聘し、本研究課題に対する有益なコメントを得ると同時に、本研究課題を推進する上で重要な最新の研究動向についての知見を得た。 初年度から研究体制の充実を図るべく、これまでのべ３名の特任研究員と１名の常勤リサーチアシスタントを雇用することで、各研究テーマを推進した。 全てのテーマにおいて、研究は進行中であるが、いくつかのテーマにおいては、すでに成果を上げている。これまでに得られた成果として、クラスサイズの縮小は学力を高める効果を持つことを自治体行政データを用いて明らかにした研究（田中2020）、クラスサイズの縮小が感染症による学級閉鎖の確率を引き下げることを明らかにした研究（Oikawa, Tanaka, Bessho, Noguchi, forthcoming)、中学生の問題行動は教員加配によって抑制できる可能性を示した研究（田中・両角, 2021）などがある。 学校の説明責任と学力格差の関係についてのこれまでの研究成果は2021年12月の韓日経済フォーラムにて招待講演として報告された。
