    反強磁性物質群におけるスピントロニクス現象の理論研究を行った。特に、スピントロニクス分野において新規な磁気構造であるnoncollinear反強磁性構造を対象とし、そこでのスピン流と磁気ダイナミクスの関係改名を目指した理論的・数値的な解析を行った。 反強磁性体を扱う上での大きな困難の一つは、マクロな磁気モーメントを持たないため、従来の磁場を用いた磁気的な手法を用いた磁気構造の制御が難しいという点にある。そのため現在、反強磁性スピントロニクスにおける大きな課題は、反強磁性構造を有効に制御する方法の確立である。本研究では、スピン流を利用した電気的な反強磁性構造の制御を目指し、その基礎となる理論研究を行ってきた。中でも、磁性体に最も基本的な磁気構造の一つである磁壁に着目し、異なる反強磁性秩序におけるスピン流誘起磁壁ダイナミクスを調べた。特に、noncollinear反強磁性磁壁に対してスピン流や電流が及ぼす影響は、これまでほとんど調べられてこなかった。本研究では、スピン流注入のもとでのnoncollinear反強磁性磁気構造に対する有効運動方程式を導くことに成功した。そしてこれを用いて、noncollinear反強磁性磁壁のダイナミクスを解析的・数値的に明らかにしている。本研究により、スピン流を用いてnoncollinear反強磁性磁壁の並進運動を誘起できることが、世界に先駆けて初めて示された。

    私、山根結太特別研究員(以下研究員)は本年度、スピントロニクス分野においてスピン起電力と呼ばれる現象の理論研究を行った。スピントロニクスとは、従来のエレクトロニクスが電子の「電荷」自由度のみを考慮してきたのに対し、電子の「スピン」自由度も含めた新しい現象の発見・応用を目指す物性物理学の研究分野である。スピン起電力は電子のスピン自由度を介して磁性体の持つ磁気エネルギーを直接起電力に変換することを可能にするメカニズムであり、応用・基礎研究の両面から近年急速に注目が高まっている。スピン起電力はその存在の予言が2007年、実験で初めて観測されたのが2009年と非常に新しい現象であり、基礎的な理論の構築が急務となっている。特に、スピン起電力をはじめスピントロニクス分野の多くの現象は「交換相互作用」と呼ばれる効果によって理解されるが、通常これよりも小さいと考えられている「スピン軌道相互作用」の影響が近年活発に議論されており、スピン起電力においてもその影響の解明が求められる。 本年度において研究員は、過去に自身が提言した理論を発展させ、交換相互作用とスピン軌道相互作用を同時に扱うことのできるスピン起電力の基礎理論確立に成功した。その結果、スピン軌道相互作用に起因する新たなスピン起電力の存在が示された。特に、動的電場を印可することで、磁化ダイナミクスの存在しない条件下でもスピン起電力が発生しうることが明らかになった。本成果は、スピン起電力に対する理解を大きく前進させるものであり、スピントロニクスデバイス性能の飛躍的向上への第一歩であると考える。
