The current authors previously proposed and utilized a 3-phase learning process that included a web-based review to facilitate effective blended learning of Chinese as a second foreign language. The authors have also focused on motivation fostered by e-learning materials as a way to increase the desire to learn. The current study develops guidelines for the design of motivational e-learning materials in Blended Learning based on the ARCS model. An experiment was conducted using the e-learning materials and a survey was also conducted regarding the developed motivational design guidelines that they were based on. The survey results indicated that the learners evaluated the e-learning materials positively, thus the guidelines have feasibility for implementation.

In order to help initial learning the LMS operation, we propose an additional guide system for initial study of LMS without system modification This system adds menus for typical tasks executed on an operation screen of LMS on the LMS. When LMS user chooses a specific task, a guide is started. The guide shows highlights and a necessary message at an applicable operation point on LMS. This system promotes the initial learning of the user by guiding the operation of the user. We do not incorporate this system in LMS directly. We contribute it as plug in of the Web browser whether we add this system on a channel. We add this system on LMS and the channel of the user or we provide it as plug in of the Web browser. The guide, an offer are enabled without repairing LMS operating by this suggestion. By an added guide, an application to a variety of initial learning depending on a use purpose of LMS is enabled.

令和元(2019)年度は、AIの機能及びそれを活用した初修語学会話復習の内容と活動の形態の分析を行い、これに基づいてAIを活用した初修中国語会話復習用アプリ教材の設計の方向性を明確にした。 (1)提案３段階学習プロセスモデルを踏まえた会話復習の内容は、授業と連携した基本会話（学習した会話に関するQ&A）と、応用会話（学習事項を応用した場面会話）とする。通常、教師と学習者が一対一で行う場合は、初修学習者のスピーキング力が低いため、教師が会話をリードし、学習者に質問して答えさせる形となるが、AIによる会話練習の場合、AIの音声認識、自動判定、誤り検出が有効であるため、その活動形態は、これらの機能を活用し、まず初修学習者の主な問題点となる発音、語彙、文法の面からチェックし、さらに誤りに対して、その箇所を提示するとともに、コメントや模範回答を与え、学習者に再回答をさせることが必要である。 (2)上記設計方針を踏まえながら、本研究の理念、実践と極めて近い中国における開発成果、AI活用英会話復習用アプリ教材“AI老師”に着目し、分析を行った。“AI老師”は、第二言語の“自然習得法”理論に基づいて会話練習を設計し、練習においてAI活用による語彙の発音判定と会話の発話判定を行い、さらに様々なフィードバックを与え、ネイティブ教師との会話練習環境をシミュレートすることに成功している。しかしながら、分析を通して、“AI老師”の特に発話への正誤判定とフィードバックにおける設計手法上の問題点が明らかとなり、今後本研究の取り組むべき課題となることが明確となった。以上により、AIを活用した初修中国語会話復習用アプリ教材の設計の方向性を明確にすることで、効果的な教材の設計開発が期待できる。

In order to enable students to review in line with the progress of face-to-face classes, we developed a smartphone review material and a web application for visualizing the review status in line with the units of the textbook. The smartphone review materials were designed to visualize the review status and to display the review status of other learners in the same class, so that learners themselves can grasp the progress of the class and the review status up to that point. In the web application for visualizing the reviewing status, we incorporated selectiong functions by purpose into the design so that the instructor can grasp the reviewing progress in a short time, and also devised a way to make the operation quicker.

Based on a model of a 3-phase learning process for blended learning (BL) devised by the current authors, the current study facilitated a shift from e-learning of basic Chinese on a PC in university to learning on a smartphone. In specific terms, this study proposed guidelines for devising review materials to facilitate BL on smartphones based on microlearning and the principles behind it, this study developed an educational app based on microlearning, and this study constructed a learning management system. Actual implementation of that approach indicated that students’ motivation to learn was sustained and that students reviewed material after class; students were effectively encouraged to review material, with a particular emphasis on speaking. These findings confirmed that a ubiquitous learning environment can be created in conjunction with face-to-face classes.

In this study, we developed the sustainable instruction and learning process model by integration of double loop instructional process model as a progressive instructional design process model and 3 phase learning process model for effective blended learning we have proposed, and clarified required specification of the information system to facilitate such a process. We also clarified that it is effective to assign home assignments especially based on micro learning, and it is possible to predict academic performance of students and give advice to individual students or improve instructional design based on it by analyzing details of learning records of home assignments.

In recent years, chance of the text based communications between a teacher and a student in face-to-face lessons has increased. Especially, Shuttle-type Communication (SC) is expected to improve students' willingness to learn. But, the communication strategy for a effective SC is not clear. Therefore, in this research, we tried to collect SC data in actual class and analyze SC data qualitatively. However, we confirmed that there is no qualitative data analysis method suitable for SC data. Therefore, we developed the KeyPaSS as a QDA method for SC data. The qualitative data analysis method is still an immature method compared to quantitative data analysis method. So development of KeyPaSS required a lot of time for trial and error and discussion. As a result, the communication strategy has yet to be clarified. We are planning to continue research to clarify the communication strategy by applying KeyPaSS to SC data.

In this study, we developed the methodology that facilitate us to manage instructional plans and teaching materials, to store and review conducted lessons, and to reuse a part of them based on a double loop instructional design process model as a progressive instructional design process model we have proposed. We investigated the effectiveness and feasibility of our methodology through experiments with the system we have developed based on the proposing methodology. And, we also extend a target to lessons for language learning, which require more advanced interaction among teacher and students, discuss learning process and designing policy of teaching materials for such lessons, and clarify the applicability of our proposing instructional design process model.

I have developed two methods that enable speaking exercise in a computer-assisted language learning (CALL) system : a method for evaluating prosody of an English utterance made by a learner, and a method for detecting grammatical mistakes included in the learner's utterance. As for prosody evaluation, I developed an estimation method of word importance factors using a decision tree, and obtained a high correlation to human assessment score, which is comparable to correlation between scores given by human evaluators. As for the grammatical mistake detection, I proposed a method for training an n-gram language model from artificially generated sentences with mistakes, and obtained 89.2% word accuracy.

平成18年度は,本研究課題の最終年度に当たる。本年度においては,本研究の目的である授業・講義等の発話内容を用いたeラーニング教材作成システムに用いるための音声認識モデルおよび音声認識手法の検討を行った。従来より,本研究が対象とするような大学での講義などの音声は,非常に変化が激しい自然発話音声の一つであるため認識が困難であることが,他の研究などから指摘されていた。そこで本研究では前年度に得られていた知見などをもとに自然発話音声の音声認識精度の向上を図った。本年度検討した講義音声認識の手法は,音声に含まれる音素の持続時間が通常の長さとは極端に異なるものを認識誤りの可能性が高いものと見なし,これを抑制するものである。このために,発話様式の似た学術講演を対象とした大規模な音声コーパスCSJを用いて,事前に持続時間の知識を獲得し,認識対象の音声を音素持続時間の観点でスコア化し,認識結果の候補のリスコアリングにより持続時間の誤りを抑制した。この方法により,従来,持続時間の知識を用いる時,検討されていなかった発話速度や文内の位置などの言語的特徴の影響をモデルに取り込み高精度に持続時間の予測を可能とした。本提案法により,最大で4.7%の音素認識誤り削減率が得られた。これは,従来法により持続時間を考慮した場合に2.1%の改善しか得られないのと比べ,有意な改善であった。また,この成果は情報処理学会論文誌に投稿し,採録された。
