    昨年度はチタン中に炭素の強制固溶を成功したため、今年度は計画通りに炭素強制固溶が①造形体微細組織及び機械的性質に与える影響の調べ、②熱処理によるTiC粒子の析出可能性の確認、③TiC粒子のサイズ、形態及び分布の調べを行った。 ①昨年度に得られた炭素強制固溶したチタン造形体を用いて、微細組織の観察及び機械的性質の評価を行った。炭素添加された造形体はチタン合金造形体と同様にラス状のマルテンサイト組織で構成されていたが、ラス厚さが明らかに小さくなったことから、炭素強制固溶が強い結晶粒微細化効果を示したと推測される。また、引張試験による機械的性質の評価では、炭素添加された造形体が高い引張強度を示し、炭素添加量を調整することで引張強度と延性のバランスを制御することが成功した。 ②炭素強制固溶されたチタン合金を用いて、低温からβ相転換温度までの各温度で熱処理を施し、組織観察を行った。低温では炭化物の析出は観察されず、炭素の分布にも明らかな変化が見られなかったが、高温領域ではTiC粒子が大量に分布していたことが観察された。これにより、炭素強制固溶体からTiC粒子が析出する可能性を確認した。 ③析出したTiC粒子を観察した結果、ほとんどの粒子は棒状であり、そのサイズはナノからサブマイクロンまで様々であることが分かった。TiC粒子はTiマトリックスのαとβ相間の粒界に分布していたことから、その析出はマットリックスの相変態に伴う炭素の偏析によって起こされるだと考えられる。
