    本研究は、学生および高校教員への聞き取り調査等により、世界史学習の内発的動機づけを探ることを通じ、いかにして能動的な学習を促すことができるかを考察し、世界史授業改善の鍵を得ようとするものである。研究初年度である２０１９年度においては、まず北海道・東北・東京・九州の合わせて９大学・高専の学生約１０００人を対象に、外国史への興味の有無、興味を抱いたきっかけ（興味を持てなかった理由）などについて質問紙調査を行い、さらに回答者の中から約２０人を選んで詳細な面接調査を行った。その結果、学生が外国史に興味を持つきっかけとして重要なのは、テレビ番組やマンガ・アニメ、ゲームなどの間接的体験、ついで高校世界史の授業、語学学習の順番であり、逆に外国史に興味を持てない理由として、そもそも外国に興味を持てないという場合が多いことが判明した。学生は、生まれて以来、それぞれが置かれた家庭・学校・社会環境の中で、さまざまな仕方・程度において外国の事物・知識に触れながら、外国への興味関心を抱いたり、そうでなかったりするものであり、そうした個々のライフヒストリーから生じる国際的志向性が、彼らの世界史学習への取り組みを大きく左右するものだといえる。このような外国史に興味を持つ（持たない）に至る各自の事情の個別性は、面接調査からも確認された。以上の知見は、学生それぞれの生育環境から生じた国際的志向性のばらつきを考慮し、外国への関心が薄い者に対してはそれを少しでも喚起しうるような形で、世界史の授業を計画・実践していく必要性を示唆するといえる。

    The first atlas: Ortelius' Theatrum Orbis Terrarum published 48 editions from 1570 to 1641.This study intended to clarify the order between world areas through the process of making it by analyzing all 177 maps and find the unification system in the Early Modern Europe. We found the most important areas in the West Europe as a triangle zone of the inland,that gradually advanced to the West.The New World: America was placed periphery of the world,similarly African Continent and Russia.In Asia,though the regions were originally belonged to the diachronic world as a saga, but drawn into the synchronic world of Europe by adding a Japan map by large scale. West Europe accelerated the time and converted history into the present in the the neighboring world areas.

    The Study made clear the historical situation of being formed the communication between leaned-men and other people in 16th Century Europe, through publishing the Ortelius' Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, called the first modern Atlas. We found the following facts : The Atlas is reconstructing the World by gathering existing maps (not original maps), still, laying the basis for the academic communication by giving the authorities in the Catalogue. And therefore the Atlas was accepted in 16-17th Century Europe and consequently influenced the understanding about the globe even in Asia.

    活版印刷術の成立した15世紀のヨーロッパでは、これに伴う情報の伝達や共有によって読者層・教養層が飛躍的に拡大するとともに、新たな「知」の交流が始まる。知識人と広汎な読者層との情報交換は時間的・空間的な認識を広げ、ついには世界認識そのものを変革するにいたった。このようなメディア革新の最初に位置づけられるのがエルザスのディーボルト・ラウバー筆写工房である。同工房は写本を分業体制により量産して、その価値を維持しまた高めながら、在地貴族の親族ネットワークをつうじて、チューリヒ、コンスタンツ、ヴュルツブルク、ニュルンベルク、オーストリア、そしてライン川下流域にまでおよぶ広い範囲に読者を獲得した。 本研究では、のべ3カ月半にわたる実地調査によって、同工房にかかる現存する写本のほぼ完全なリストを作成することができた。それらの写本のテクストやインク、用紙、装丁、挿画などの丹念な分析を行うことで、工房の写本にはこれまで知られていなかった3つの様式区分が存在すること、そしてこれはそれぞれ対象となる読者層に対応すること、また写本生産の初期の動因として、在地貴族のフェーデ行為があったことなどを明らかにした。とくにインキュナブラとの相違点として、所有者がおもに貴族の女性であったことを挙げることができるが、写本を制作し読書集会において披露することで女性もフェーデに参加したのである。これは初期の書物の機能として重要な発見であった。 また当初から様式が統一され、貴族の女性の財産となったことで、写本は量産品ながらいわばブランド的価値を帯びた。これにより、安価な代用品にすぎなかった印刷本の欠陥が補われ、書物の普及に拍車をかけた。したがって近世以降の書物メディアの基本構造は、ラウバー工房により考案されたものだといえる。以上の研究の成果は学会で報告し、図書の一章として出版した。
