    Phthalocyanines (Pcs) have garnered significant attention as promising catalysts for electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECR); however, traditional methods for preparing carbon-supported Pcs are often complex and time-consuming, limiting their industrial applicability. Herein, a rapid spray-growth method is introduced that directly deposits CoPc crystals onto carbon paper (CP) in just 15 min. The resulting CoPc/CP electrode maintains > 90% CO selectivity across a broad ECR window (-0.57 to -1.32 V vs RHE), achieves a record-breaking CO current density of -1034 mA cm-2, an ultrahigh mass activity of 5180 A g-1, and demonstrates excellent long-term stability (145 h @ -150 mA cm-2), surpassing all reported Pc-based catalysts. Comprehensive characterization attributes this high performance to its carbon-supported-crystalline structure and surface charge transfer (SCT). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further reveal that even minimal SCT effectively optimizes the adsorption energies of key intermediates (*CO and *COOH), thereby significantly enhancing intrinsic activity. Moreover, this spray-grown electrode offers unique structural advantages, such as strong substrate adhesion and internal layers that replenish active sites-features absent in traditional carbon-supported electrodes. It is believed that this facile spray-growth method holds broad potential and enables the application of additional Pc-based materials for industrial-scale ECR.

    Abstract As the first experiment at BL10U in NanoTerasu, tender X-ray ptychographic coherent diffraction imaging (PCDI) was conducted using a photon energy of 3.5 keV. The ptychographic diffraction patterns from a 200 nm-thick Ta test chart and a micrometer-sized particle of sulfurized polymer were collected. Subsequently, phase images were reconstructed with resolutions of sub-20 nm and sub-50 nm, respectively. In the near future, tender X-ray PCDI with sub-10 nm resolution is anticipated that can potentially revolutionize the visualization of nanoscale structures and chemical states in various functional materials composed of light elements.

    Abstract Tau neutrino is the least studied lepton of the Standard Model (SM). The NA65/DsTau experiment targets to investigate Ds, the parent particle of the ντ, using the nuclear emulsion-based detector and to decrease the systematic uncertainty of ντ flux prediction from over 50 % to 10 % for future beam dump experiments. In the experiment, the emulsion detectors are exposed to the CERN SPS 400 GeV proton beam. To provide optimal conditions for the reconstruction of interactions, the protons are required to be uniformly distributed over the detector's surface with an average density of 105 cm-2 and the fluctuation of less than 10%. To address this issue, we developed a new proton irradiation system called the target mover. The new target mover provided irradiation with a proton density of 1.01 × 105 cm-2 and the density fluctuation of 1.9 ± 0.3% in the DsTau 2021 run.

    Neutron imaging is a nondestructive inspection technique that has a wide range of applications. One of the important aspects of neutron imaging is achieving a micrometer-scale spatial resolution. The development of a high-resolution neutron detector is a challenging task. As one potential solution to this task, we investigate whether neutron detectors based on fine-grained nuclear emulsions are suitable for high-resolution neutron imaging applications. High track density is necessary to improve the quality of neutron imaging. However, the available track analysis methods are difficult to apply under high track density conditions. Simulated images are used to determine the required track density for neutron imaging. A track density of the order of [Formula: see text] tracks per [Formula: see text] is sufficient to utilize neutron detectors for imaging applications. Contrast resolution was also investigated for image datasets with various track densities and neutron transmission rates. Moreover, experiments were performed for the neutron imaging of gadolinium-based gratings with known geometries. The grating structures were successfully resolved. The calculated [Formula: see text] 10%–90% edge response using the grayscale optical images of the grating slit with a periodic structure of 9 [Formula: see text]m was [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text]m.

    Abstract Ξ− atomic X-ray spectroscopy is one of the most useful methods for investigation of the Ξ-nucleus strong interaction. Since the X-ray energy is shifted and/or broadened due to the Ξ-nucleus strong interaction compared to those calculated from electromagnetic interaction alone, the measurement of the energy shift, ΔE, and the width, Γ, give us information on the Ξ-nucleus potential. A serious problem in the measurement is the significant background derived from in-flight Ξ− decay. A novel method of identifying stopped Ξ− events using the nuclear emulsion was developed to realize the first Ξ− atomic X-ray spectroscopy experiment as the J-PARC E07 experiment, which also aimed at searching for ΛΛ and Ξ− hypernuclei in the emulsion. The X-rays emitted from Ξ− Br and Ξ− Ag atoms were measured using germanium detectors. No clear peaks were observed in the obtained spectra. However, we succeeded in reducing the background to 1/170 by this method employing the coincidence measurements using the nuclear emulsion and X-ray detectors.

    Ξ atomic X-ray spectroscopy is one of the most useful methods for investigation of the Ξ-nucleus strong interaction. A serious problem in the measurement is the significant background coming from in-flight Ξ decay. For the first Ξ atomic X-ray spectroscopy experiment, a novel method of identifying stopped Ξ events using nuclear emulsion was developed to reject background photons from in-flight Ξ decay. We succeeded in reducing the background to 1/170 by this method employing coincidence measurements using the nuclear emulsion and X-ray detectors.

    Abstract We performed a novel Σ+p scattering experiment at the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility. Approximately 2400 Σ+p elastic scattering events were identified from 4.9 × 107 tagged Σ+ particles in the Σ+ momentum range 0.44–0.80 GeV/c. The differential cross sections of the Σ+p elastic scattering were derived with much better precision than in previous experiments. The obtained differential cross sections were approximately 2 mb/sr or less, which were not as large as those predicted by the fss2 and FSS models based on the quark cluster model in the short-range region. By performing phase-shift analyses for the obtained differential cross sections, we experimentally derived the phase shifts of the 3S1 and 1P1 channels for the first time. The phase shift of the 3S1 channel, where a large repulsive core was predicted owing to the Pauli effect between quarks, was evaluated as $20^\circ \lt |\delta _{^3S_1}|\lt 35^\circ$. If the sign of $\delta _{^3S_1}$ is assumed to be negative, the interaction in this channel is moderately repulsive, as the Nijmegen extended-sort-core models predicted.

    A machine learning model has been developed to search events of production and decay of a hypertriton in nuclear emulsion data, which is used for measuring the binding energy of the hypertriton at the best precision. The developed model employs an established technique for object detection and is trained with surrogate images generated by Monte Carlo simulations and image transfer techniques. The first hypertriton event has already been detected with the developed method only with 10−4 of the total emulsion data. It implies that a sufficient number of hypertriton events will soon be detected for the precise measurement of the hypertriton binding energy.

    <title>Abstract</title> Bound systems of $\Xi^-$–$^{14}_{}{\rm N}$ are studied via $\Xi^-$ capture at rest followed by emission of a twin single-$\Lambda$ hypernucleus in the emulsion detectors. Two events forming extremely deep $\Xi^-$ bound states were obtained by analysis of a hybrid method in the E07 experiment at J-PARC and reanalysis of the E373 experiment at KEK-PS. The decay mode of one event was assigned as $\Xi^-+^{14}\!\,\!\!{\rm N}\to^{5}_{\Lambda}\!\!\!{\rm He} + ^{5}_{\Lambda}\!\!{\rm He} + ^{4}\!\!{\rm He} + \mathrm{n}$. Since there are no excited states for daughter particles, the binding energy of the $\Xi^-$ hyperon, $B_{\Xi^-}$, in the $^{14}_{}{\rm N}$ nucleus was uniquely determined to be $6.27 \pm 0.27$ MeV. Another $\Xi^-$–$^{14}_{}{\rm N}$ system via the decay $^{9}_{\Lambda}{\rm Be} + ^{5}_{\Lambda}\!\!\!{\rm He} + \mathrm{n}$ brings a $B_{\Xi^-}$ value, $8.00 \pm 0.77$ MeV or $4.96 \pm 0.77$ MeV, where the two possible values of $B_{\Xi^-}$ correspond to the ground and the excited states of the daughter $^{9}_{\Lambda}{\rm Be}$ nucleus, respectively. Because the $B_{\Xi^-}$ values are larger than those of the previously reported events (KISO and IBUKI), which are both interpreted as the nuclear $1p$ state of the $\Xi^-$–$^{14}_{}{\rm N}$ system, these new events give the first indication of the nuclear $1s$ state of the $\Xi$ hypernucleus, $^{15}_{\Xi}{\rm C}$.

With use of nuclear emulsion, double-hypernuclei have been studied for aiming to understand Λ-Λ interaction via at-rest-capture of Ξ- hyperon originated by quasi-free (K-, K+) reactions, where the beam K- momentum was 1.66 GeV/c. Under the process for studying them, elementary feature for not only quasi-free reaction but also production of nuclei with single and double unit(s) of strangeness have been roughly understood, even the statistics were not large. So far we have succeeded to analyze 5 events of double-hypernuclei which introduced binding energies of two A hyperons on several nuclei. However its knowledge is very limited. We have started a new experiment, J-PARC E07, to give us rich information in S -2 world. An event which may give us a new information about Ξ-nucleus interaction shall be introduced.

    Abstract Interests on few-body hypernuclei have been increased by recent results of experiments employing relativistic heavy ion beams. Some of the experiments have revealed that the lifetime of the lightest hypernucleus, hypertriton, is significantly shorter than 263 ps which is expected by considering the hypertriton to be a weakly-bound system. The STAR collaboration has also measured the hypertriton binding energy, and the deduced value is contradicting to its formerly known small binding energy. These measurements have indicated that the fundamental physics quantities of the hypertriton such as its lifetime and binding energy have not been understood, therefore, they have to be measured very precisely. Furthermore, an unprecedented Λnn bound state observed by the HypHI collaboration has to be studied in order to draw a conclusion whether or not such a bound state exists. These three-body hypernuclear states are studied by the heavy-ion beam data in the WASA-FRS experiment and by analysing J-PARC E07 nuclear emulsion data with machine learning.

    <p>Automatic Xi- hyprons track following system is developed to assist the search of double-Lambda hypernuclear events and twin single-Lambda hypernuclear events which are the uniquely available sources to study Lambda-Lambda and Xi-N interaction. So far, the amount of double-Lambda hypernuclear and twin single-Lambda hypernuclear events are strongly limited. In order to detect double-Lambda hypernuclei, Xi- hyperons from `p`(K-,K+)Xi- have to be followed until their stopping points in nuclear emulsion. The E07 experiment is carried out to study Lambda-Lambda and Xi-N interaction with high statistics events and we expected 10 time statistics of Xi- stopping events than previous E373 experiment. Thus the automatic track following system will become a powerful and essential tool in E07 experiment to finish scanning work within one year. All parts of automatic track following system are already developed successfully. The detail of efficiency, accuracy and operation speed of automatic track following system will be discussed in my presentation.</p>

    <p>Information of double-strangeness sector in Octet baryon scheme is very limited, so far. In order to get more rich information, we are developing "Vertex Picker", which detect double-hypernuclei with typical three vertices by scanning full area of nuclear emulsion. We are applying Vertex Picker to the emulsion of the E373 experiment for a few years, and the KISO event, which is the first evidence of deeply bound Xi-nucleus system, was successfully detected under the test operation. In this talk, we will introduce current status of detection of typical events by Vertex Picker.</p>

    The first evidense of Xi-hypernuclei in which Xi- hyperon bound in Nitrogen-14 nucleus was discovered by a newly depelopped "overall scanning method" to the old emulsion. Thus, Xi-nucleus potential and the underlying Xi-Nucleon interaction are concluded to be attractive. The reported paper won the 22nd Outstanding Paper Award of the Physical Society of Japan in 2017. The exisitance of Xi-hypernuclei was also suggested by 12C(K-,K+) spectrum obtained in the pilot run of the reaction spectroscopy experiment (E05). New emulsion experiment E07 started data-taking after the commissioning of a newly installed KURAMA spectrometer for double-strangeness experiments at K1.8 in 2016. A large accepntance Hyperon Spectromter for H-dibaryon search experiment E42 was almost completed. E42 was recommended to get stage-2 approval at the program advisory committee (PAC) meeting held in January 2017.
