    With the proliferation of IoT sensors and devices, storing collected data in the cloud has become common. A wide variety of data with different purposes and forms are not directly stored in the cloud but are sent to the cloud via edge servers. At the edge server, applications are running in containers and virtual machines to collect data. However, the current deployment and movement mechanisms for containers and virtual machines do not consider any conventions or regulations for the applications and the data it contains. Therefore, it is easy to deploy and migrate containers and virtual machines. However, the problem arises when it is deployed or migrated, which may violate the licensing terms of the contained applications, the rules of the organization, or the laws and regulations of the concerned country. We have already proposed a data-audit control mechanism for the migration of virtual machines. The proposed mechanism successfully controls the unintentional and malicious migration of virtual machines. We expect similar problems with containers to occur as the number of edge servers increases. Therefore, we propose a policy-based data-audit control system for container migration. The proposed system was verified in the implemented edge computing environment and the results showed that adding the proposed data-audit control mechanism had a minimal impact on migration time and that the system was practical enough. In the future, we intend to conduct verification not in a very compact and short-range environment such as this one but on an existing wide-area network.

    In recent years, the life-cycle of high-tech products such as personal computers and cellular phones is getting shortened. Shorter life-cycle makes the risk of opportunity loss and dead-stock disposal loss higher. Supply plan designates the quantity and the delivery date of products to supply. The plan is created based on forecasted demand in order to cover the demand. Statistical method is used to forecast, however, shorter life-cycle also makes it difficult to obtain enough amounts of historical record to conduct statistical analysis. Consequently, the forecast accuracy declines. Since the decision made on the supply plan has a greater impact on the profitability these days, the decision based on quantitative evaluation is essential to manufacturers and resellers. In this paper, the model which explains how the profit is produced from the demand and supply is constructed. Taking advantage of the model, gross profit, opportunity loss, and dead-stock disposal loss are analyzed with Monte-Carlo method and evaluated quantitatively. The application of the proposed system on two cases shows the effectiveness of the system.

    Supply is planned to meet the future forecast. However, uncertainty is involeved in the supply plan since it is difficult to forecast the future demand accurately. The impact to business caused by the gap between the forecast and actual demand is called risk. Thus, supply planning methods which can maximize profit and minimize risk simultaneously is desired. The conventional method based on safety stock or buffer stock has been widely used, whose main purpose is to prevent the occurrence of opportunity loss. In order to simulate the uncertainty and evaluate the profit and risk, we introduced Monte Carlo simulation. According to the fitness calculated by the simulation, a genetic algorithm optimizes the profit, risk, opportunity loss, and final inventory quantity of supply planning problems. The approach was tested on the supply planning data and has achieved a remarkable result.

    In the age of IoT, as known as Internet of Things, tens of billions sensors or devices will be connected to the Internet. For elasticity, scalability and efficiency, some operators try to use cloud resources to collect data from IoT devices and analyze such data on the Internet. On the other hand, protecting privacy is an issue for using cloud resources. We proposed m-cloud, a distributed computation mechanism which enables us to collect data from IoT devices and calculate some statistical indices on public cloud environment while we reduce the risk of revealing privacy information. Although the mechanism is based on the idea of distributed processing on multiple independent cloud computers, we need additional features to avoid errors caused by communication failures or devices failures, in practical scenes. In this paper, we review the m-cloud computation and propose extensions for fault tolerant mechanism based on distributed transaction technique.

A community consists of many parts, such as road, park, building, etc., monitoring these statuses will help understanding what is happening in community. We think to consider more of resident living community as well as resident activities. In this paper, we propose CESP, Community Environment Sending Platform for community-care. CESP is a platform to monitor a variety of status of each element in smart community, to manage and analyze monitored data for community's benefit.

    Information communication system is an infrastructure for a variety of activities of societies and companies. New information communication technology (ICT) such as a portable/mobile device, social network, cloud computing, and information security system are emerging. The 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake caused serious damage in the Tohoku region. The ICT were useful in disaster recovery activities. Mobile phone was effective. Business continuity plan (BCP) helped early restoration. It is important to share the experience in order to consider the correspondence to future disaster.In this paper, I report our experience on business continuity activities as IT Company and how we used ICT just after the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake. I examined the values and challenges which the newest ICT performed in this earthquake disaster. I will work on to improve future information communication systems based upon our experiences. More research is required to find out how ICT can contribute to the recovery and rebirth of society after severer disasters.

    The electric power and the communication network after the earthquake stopped for a long term. This was a trouble where the organization collected victim informations etc. These information is necessary for the prompt support. The means to scratch for information under such a situation is necessary. This means should use the equipment always used. In addition, the security of these information was not considered because it was an emergency. it is necessary to collect these information safely as much as possible. In this paper, we propose the secure information system that uses secure USB memory where the application execution environment is stored. In addition, we examined the composition of the information system that managed collected information because the system should work while electric power failure. Our proposed method supplements strengthening the emergency power supply and congestion control. Preparing two or more countermeasures expands choices in the emergency. As a result, the certainty of the secure information gathering is improved.

    The 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake caused serious damage in the Pacific coast of the Tohoku district. The inland in the Tohoku district had comparatively little damage, and has started restoration early. An information system is an infrastructure of the activity of society or a company. We have realized the system at the time of disaster, such as a safety check system and business continuity plan, through the past earthquake disaster. An information technology progresses greatly from the past earthquake disaster, and new information technology is appearing. The technology is a social network, cloud computing, a portable/mobile device, and an information security. In this paper, I consider the role and problem which these newest information technologies performed in this earthquake disaster. It is important when considering the future information system as a social infrastructure.

    TAO (Telecommunications Advancement Organization of Japan) provides the high speed network called Japan Gigabit Network, which is available for researchers and developers until 2003. We are going on with research activities to interconnect regional networks over JGN and to study the next generation of the internet backbone architecture in Japan. In this paper, we introduce 3 objectives in our project: 1.Research of the next generation application infrastructure, such as, sharing regional information resources between regional networks via the high speed inter-regional backbone, or design of the service architecture of a data center distributed in wide area. 2.Connecting regional 'access line' networks such as CATV, wireless and/or xDSL networks, each other, over our high speed inter-regional backbone. Because such networks are capable to provide wide bandwidth telecommunication, contents such as voice or video stream can be transfered between distributed regional networks. 3.Research of the next generation routing and forwarding architecture in the high speed backbone. We are planning to implement our inter-regional backbone using label switching technology, which enables inter-domain routing over our inter-regional backbone.

    In today's manufacturing systems, it is difficult to execute orders on schedule, because of frequent production fluctuations. In order to solve the problem, it is necessary to develop the decentralized scheduling technology that is able to accommodate local changes and uncertainty. In this paper, we propose the decentralized scheduling method base on a hierarchical decision making model. First, we suppose various cases of decision making in a manufacturing system. Next, we show models of these decision making modules using an agent model. Lastly, we describe an example of the decentralized scheduling system base on the model.

    Recently, not only internet service providers but also universities or coorporations are in multi-homed environment, that is, they are connected to the Internet at multiple points. Multi-homed sites have venefits of redundancy or load balancing. But it is also pointed out that it's very hard to control or manage routing on these environment. With current internet technogolies, most applications do not care about which path should be used to send or receive data traffic when multiple path exist for a destination. In this paper, we propose application routing technology which controls application data traffic by using external information such as routing table. This is an extension of Web(World Wide Web)proxy technogy. Using this new technology suggested in this paper, one can easily control application data traffic, independently to routing management.

A means to construct such a communication environment is a local internet exchange. The local internet exchange connects among, internet service provider which member of community use, encloses traffic of these member in local internet exchange.     In this research, we proposed distributed privacy preserving statistical computation mechanism for processing a huge amount of IoT sensor data, where we reduce the risk of revealing privacy data while we would use scalable, elastic and cost effective computing power of public cloud. In the mechanism, IoT devices upload their data into multiple cloud computing environment with privacy preserving technique so that it reduce the risk of privacy data, while we would achieve accurate statistical indices. We designed and implemented prototype system for the mechanism and proved its effectiveness. We also extended the mechanism to be scalable and resilient with DHT and distributed transaction technique. We proposed to apply our mechanism for some business cases, such as smart home, healthcare or online voting. We designed and implemented the prototype for the case of smart home, as well.

    Recent rapid progress of the Internet enables us both (1) variety usage of the internet for the communication and (2) the complex usage of the communication software. The aims of this research are (1) to reduce the complexity of the usage of many kinds of softwares based on the new concepts. (2) to create the softwares enable people to create the applications as they hope in a flexible way. and (3) to create a software to develop the environment that creates above situations. This fiscal year, we conducted these three researches and developments : (1) Analysis and modeling of the communication applications based on the object oriented method (2) The architecture to realize the model is established (3) Definition of the language to describe the model and (4) Implementation of the interpreter based on the results of (2) and (3).
