    Tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivatives with 2-azulenyl substituents 5-11 were prepared by the palladium-catalyzed direct arylation reaction of 2-chloroazulenes with TTF in good yield. Photophysical properties of these compounds were investigated by UV-vis spectroscopy and theoretical calculations. Redox behavior of the novel azulene-substituted TTFs was examined by using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry, which revealed their multistep electrochemical oxidation and/or reduction properties. Moreover, these TTF derivatives showed significant spectral change in the visible region under the redox conditions.

    Aryl-substituted 1,1,4,4-tetracyano-1,3-butadienes (FcTCBDs) and bis(1,1,4,4-tetracyanobutadiene)s (bis-FcTCBDs), possessing a ferrocenyl group on each terminal, were prepared by the reaction of a variety of alkynes with tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) in a [2+2] cycloaddition reaction, followed by retro-electrocyclization of the initially formed [2+2] cycloadducts (i.e., cyclobutene derivatives). The characteristic intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) between the donor (ferrocene) and acceptor (TCBD) moieties were investigated by using UV/Vis spectroscopy. The redox behaviors of FcTCBDs and bis-FcTCBDs were examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), which revealed their properties of multi-electron transfer depending on the number of ferrocene and TCBD moieties. Moreover, significant color changes were observed by visible spectroscopy under the electrochemical reduction conditions.

    1,3-Bis(azulenylethynyl)azulene derivatives 9-14 have been prepared by palladium-catalyzed alkynylation of 1-ethynylazulene 8 with 1,3-diiodoazulene 1 or 1,3-diethynylazulene 2 with the corresponding haloazulenes 3-7 under Sonogashira-Hagihara conditions. Bis(alkynes) 9-14 reacted with tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) in a formal [2+2] cycloaddition-retroelectrocyclization reaction to afford the corresponding new bis(tetracyanobutadiene)s (bis(TCBDs)) 15-20 in excellent yields. The redox behavior of bis(TCBD)s 15-20 was examined by using CV and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), which revealed their reversible multistage reduction properties under the electrochemical conditions.     Acetylene derivatives with an azulenyl group at both terminals have been prepared by palladium-catalyzed alkynylation under Sonogashira-Hagihara conditions. These alkynes reacted with tetracyanoethylene and 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane in a formal [2 + 2] cycloaddition-retroelectrocyclization reaction to afford the corresponding new tetracyanobutadienes (TCBDs) and dicyanoquinodimethanes (DCNQs), respectively, in excellent yields. Intramolecular CT absorption bands were found in the UV-vis spectra of the novel chromophores, and CV and DPV showed that they exhibited a reversible two-stage reduction wave, due to the electrochemical reduction of TCBD and DCNQ moieties. Color changes were also observed during the electrochemical reduction.

    Mono-, bis-, tris-, and tetrakis(1-azulenylethynyl)benzene and mono- and bis(1-azulenylethynyl)thiophene derivatives 5-10 have been prepared by Pd-catalyzed alkynylation of ethynyl arenes with 1-iodoazulene derivative or the 1-ethynylazulene derivative with tetraiodobenzene and iodothiophenes under Sonogashira-Hagihara conditions. Compounds 5-10 reacted with tetracyanoethylene in a [2+2] cycloaddition reaction to afford the corresponding 1,1,4,4,-tetracyano-2-(5-isopropyl-3-methoxycarbonyl-1-azulenyl)-3-butadienyl chromophores 12-16 in excellent yields, except for the reaction of the tetrakis(1-azulenylethynyl)benzene derivative. 1,1,4,4,-Tetracyano-2,3-bis(1-azulenyl)butadiene (17) was also prepared by the similar reaction of bis(1-azulenyl)acetylene (11) with tetracyanoethylene (TCNE). The redox behavior of novel azulene derivatives 12-17 was examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), which revealed multistep electrochemical reduction properties. Moreover, a significant color change was observed by visible spectroscopy under electrochemical reduction conditions.

    The azulene chromophores were prepared by the reaction of 1-ethynylazulenes with TCNE. The redox behavior of these novel azulene derivatives was examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), which revealed the multi-step electrochemical reduction properies. Moreover, significant color change was observed by visible spectroscopy under electrochemical reduction conditions.

    It is well known that calixarenes fold metal ions and/or small organic molecules in their molecules. Since Gutsche had reported the synthesis, various calixarenes have been synthesized. In our laboratory a calix[4]azulene derivative was synthesized. Ferrocene is well known as a good redox system. We succeeded to synthesize a new calixarene derivative (&lt;B&gt;A&lt;/B&gt;) containing ferrocenyl groups by the reaction of 6-&lt;I&gt;tert&lt;/I&gt;-butylazulene and ferrocenacrboxaldehyde in acetic acid. We will convert &lt;B&gt;A&lt;/B&gt; into its carbocation or we are carrying out the reaction of 6-methoxyazulene and 6-&lt;I&gt;N&lt;/I&gt;,&lt;I&gt;N&lt;/I&gt;-dimethylaminoazulene instead of 6-&lt;I&gt;tert&lt;/I&gt;-butylazulene. We will report here the synthesis, structure, physical properties and other interesting results of &lt;B&gt;A&lt;/B&gt;.

    The nitrogen-containing heterocyclic aromatic compounds such as pyridines, quinoline, isoquinoline and so on, react with Tf2O to give a corresponding cationic salts. Azulene reacts with the cationic salts through electrophilic substitution to give 1- and 1,3-substituted azulenes. The occurring dihydroheteroarylazulenes reacted with bases to give heteroarylazulenes. This new process could be considered as a coupling reaction without transition metal for the synthesis of heteroarylazulenes.

    Artificial large and sophisticated molecular systems, such as artificial enzyme, artificial molecular scaffold, and artificial molecular architecture are of current interest. We have developed peptide/protein-inspired building blocks such as 1,4-bis(ethynylthienyl)arenes and 4,7-dibromobenzo[b]thiophene, for construction of linked molecular systems containing main axis and various side chains. In this research, a modified synthetic route to 4,7-dibromobenzo[b]thiophene, using 1-adamantanethiol, was developed and the dibromobenzothiophene was utilized for syntheses of oligoarenes, whose structures were inspired by folding of proteins.

    Sterically protected 3,4-diphosphinidenecyclobutenes (hereafter abbreviated to DPCB), bearing an extremely bulky 2,4,6-tri-t-butylphenyl group (abbreviated to the Mes^* group), are unique bidentate ligands of interest, because of their relatively rigid framework containing the phosphorus-carbon π-bond. We have prepared various transition metal complexes of DPCB and some of them were used as homogeneous catalysts. We recently prepared 1,2-di(2-thienyl)-3,4-diphosphinidenecyclobutene (DPCB-T) and 1,2-di(3-thienyI)- congener (DPCB-T'), as well as some polymers bearing repeating unit containing the DPCB-T moiety. Both DPCB-T and DPCB-T are promising building blocks for construction of more elaborate DPCB derivatives, because introduction of functional group (at the position a to the sulfur atom) is expected to be easily performed under mild conditions. In fact, various DPCB-T derivatives were prepared by lithiation with butyllithium followed by reaction with electrophiles. Furthermore, mono-and diiodo-DPCB-T derivatives were obtained by successive reactions of DPCB-T with butyllithium and iodoacetonitrile. Further conversions of the iodo-DPCB-T derivatives were then carried out : Various alkynyl groups, such as trimethylsilylethynyl, pyridylethynyl, or azulenylethynyl, were introduced to give new DPCB ligands. Some novel 3,4-diphosphinidenecyclobutenes, bearing thienyl or azulenyl group at the 1,2-positions, were also prepared. In addition, novel spacer was developed as follows. In the course of our continuing researches on developing novel organophosphorus ligands as mentioned above, we interested in the ligand system containing the 2,3-thienylene spacer. The 2,3-thienylene spacer has an advantage : introduction of substituents or functional groups into the 5-position of the thiophene ring is easy. This advantage will help, for example, researches on sophisticated ligands. We then investigated preparations of 1,4-bis(2-ethynyl-3-thienyl)benzene and its application to pyridine ligands, in which the bis(ethynylthienyl)benezene moiety is incorporated as a spacer.

    まず平成16年度の本課題研究で得られた1,2-ジチエニル-3,4-ジホスフィニデンシクロブテン(DPCB-Tと略す)を連結した形の高分子量化合物の合成について検討した。即ち、スペーサー部分として、フルオレンやベンゼンのようなπ共役系を用いた高分子量型DPCB誘導体を合成し、その性質について検討した。さらに、これら高分子量型DPCB誘導体を配位子とする遷移金属錯体を合成し、その性質について検討した。次に、dpcb-Tユニットを順次連結していくことについて検討した。即ち、まず同種のDPCB-Tユニットを連結していくことを検討し、次いで異種のDPCB-Tユニット(例えば電子的な影響を与える立体保護基を有する種々のDPCBユニット等)を配列を制御しながら連結していく方法の開発について検討した。その結果、DPCBの分解や異性化を伴わないヨウ素導入法を見い出すことができ、従来の問題点を克服した。さらにDPCB-Tの片方のチエニル基のみにヨウ素を導入する反応条件について検討し、これを基にして、幾つかの非対称置換DPCB-T誘導体を合成することもできた。この非対称置換DPCB-T誘導体は今後の研究展開の鍵となる重要なビルディングブロックである。そこでこの非対称置換DPCB-T誘導体を利用して、クロスカップリング反応等による配列制御型連結(ただの非対称連結とは異なり、さらなる連結可能部位を残しており、非対称連結による延長が可能なもの)について検討した。この連結手法は、2-チエニル誘導体および3-チエニル誘導体の双方に応用可能であることがわかった。また単量体型DPCB誘導体の効率的な合成法についても研究を続け、電子的な影響を与える立体保護基を有する種々のDPCB-Tユニットを合成した他、種々の新たなDPCB誘導体を合成した。

    かさ高い置換基の速度論的安定化効果を受けたリン・炭素二重結合を含む化合物(ホスファアルケン類)を配位子として、新規な金錯体の合成と構造解析について検討した。配位子として、2-メチルスルファニル-1-ホスファエテン類、1,3-ジホスファプロペン類、1,2,4-ジアザホスホール類、および1,4-ジホスファ-1,3-ブタジエン誘導体を用いた。その結果、金原子に硫黄原子よりもリン原子が優先して配位することや、複数のリン原子を有する配位子の場合にはそのリン原子それぞれ一つずつ金に配位すること等が明らかとなった。複数個の金が含まれた複核錯体では、引力的なaurophilic相互作用によって、分子内で金どうしが近接していることが構造解析から明らかとなった。これまでに報告されているホスファアルケン-金錯体とは異なり、配位子に含まれるかさ高い置換基の効果によって金クラスター構造をとることが抑制されているために、分子間での明確な金-金相互作用は見られず、超分子的分子間接触は観察されなかった。その一方で、配位子に複数のリン原子が含まれていて、また分子構造が比較的剛直な場合においては、その構造を歪ませてまでも複数の金原子へ配位する現象や、本来安定な配位子のコンホメーションが金への配位によって大きく変化していく様子が観察された。続いて、得られた金錯体を用いた応用研究として、有機反応触媒としての機能性に関する検討を行った。アセチレン化合物に含水アルコール中、金錯体存在下で塩酸を作用させたところ、金錯体のアセチレン活性化を経る水の付加によって最終的にケトン類が得られることを見いだした。また、アセチレンとオレフィン構造を含むエンイン化合物と金錯体を銀塩の共存下で反応させると、やはり金錯体によるアセチレン活性化を起点とした環化異性化反応が進行し種々の環状化合物へ誘導できることを見いだした。

    Various polymers of sterically protected 3,4-diphosphinidenecyclobutenes, which are unique bidentate ligands having phosphorus-carbon double bonds, were prepared and their properties were studied. For example, a new sterically protected 3,4-diphosphinidenecyclobutene, containing 4-(4-vinylphenyl)butyl group at the 1- and 2-positions, was prepared and converted to a polymer. In the successive reaction of bis[(2,4,6-tri-t-butylphenyl)phosphino]diynes with t-butyllithium and 1,2-dibromoethane, 3,4-diphosphinidenecyclobutene derivatives having ring-fused structures were obtained as major products along with diphosphinidenecyclobutene polymers. Sterically protected 3,4-diphosphinidene-1,2-dithienylcyclobutenes were also prepared and converted to polymers and/or oligomers, via functionalization of the thienyl moieties. Some polymers and oligomers, as well as their monomers, were allowed to react with bis(acetonitrile)dichloropalladium or bis(acetonitrile)dichloroplatinum to give metal complexes of the bidentate ligands. Structures of some diphosphinidenecyclobutene monomers and their transition metal complexes were analyzed by X-ray crystallography. A relatively large geometrical change induced by the complex formation was exhibited in the case of 3,4-diphosphinidenecyclobutenes having ring-fused structures. Moreover, some new sterically protecting groups were developed. A sterically protecting auxiliary of the metacyclophane type was newly developed and applied to preparations of unsymmetrically substituted diphosphene and 1,3-diphosphaallene. Unsymmetrical 1,4-diphosphabutatriene was prepared for the first time, using the sterically protecting group of metacyclophane type, and the properties were studied. Sterically hindered aryl substituents having an electron-donating group at the o- or p-positions, were also developed. Thus, 2,4-di-t-butyl-6-(phenoxymethyl)phenyl group and 2,6-di-t-butyl-4-methoxyphenyl group were developed and the substituents were applied to preparations of diphosphenes as well as dichlorophosphines and fluorenylidenepbosphines. Structures of some low coordinated phosphorus compounds bearing the electron-donating sterically demanding groups were studied by X-ray crystallography and the effect of the substituents were discussed.

    まず、立体保護された3,4-ジホスフィニデンシクロブテンの1,2-位に6〜8員環が縮環した形の縮環型ジホスフィニデンシクロブテンを合成し、パラジウムあるいは白金キレート錯体に変換した。ここで得られた縮環型化合物および錯体についてX線結晶構造解析を検討したところ、1,2-位の置換基とリン原子上の立体保護基との立体反発の度合によって構造および配位能力に大きな違いがでることが示唆された。さらに、1,2-位に4-(4-ビニルフェニル)ブチル基を有する3,4-ジホスフィニデンシクロブテンを合成し、ポリマーに変換した。得られたポリマーにパラジウム錯体を作用させたところ、金属錯体ポリマーと思われる固体が得られ、これはほとんどの有機溶媒に不溶であった。前述のポリマーのリン・炭素二重結合まわりの幾何配置は(E,E)-型を保っていると考えられるが、光を照射すると一部(E,Z)-型に変化した。かさ高いシリルホスフィドとベンゾイルフェロセンとの反応では対応するホスファアルケンは得られなかったが、フェロセンカルボキシアデヒドとの反応ではホスファアルケンを得ることができた。また、2,4-ジ-t-ブチル-6-メトキシフェニル基および2,4-ジ-t-ブチル-6-(ジメチルアミノ)フェニル基を有するホスファアルケンを合成した。これらホスファアルケンの、置換基による安定性の序列はジチオキソホスホランの場合と大きく異なっていた。これら置換基はジチオキソホスホランに対しては安定化に働くが、ホスファアルケンに対してはむしろ求電子試薬との反応を促進する活性化基として働くと考えられる。さらに、2,4,6-トリ-t-ブチルフェニル基の一方のο-位をイソプロピル基に変えた置換基やメトキシアルキル基を導入した置換基を開発し、それら置換基を有するジホスフェン類やジチオキソホスホラン類を合成した。

    1. 速度論的安定化効果と電子的効果を併せ持つ置換基の開発 本研究では、立体保護基として、従来用いられてきた2,4,6-トリ-t-ブチルフェニル基の炭素骨格を保ちつつ、片方、あるいは両方のオルト位置換基上に水酸基、アミノ基、アルコキシ基、シアノ基、ホルミル基等を有する、新規な、かさ高い置換基を開発した。また、アルキルチオ基を持つ、かさ高い置換基も開発した。これらは、速度論的安定化効果と電子的効果を併せ持つと考えられる新規安定化基である。 2. 新規な置換基を有するカルコゲノホスホラン類等の合成 上記の新規安定化基を用いて、ジチオキソホスホラン、ジセレノキソホスホラン、セレノキソチオキソホスホラン、チオキソホスフィン、セレノキソホスフィン、ジホスフィン、一級ホスフィン等を合成した。また、2,4,6-トリ-t-ブチルフェニル基の片方あるいは両方のオルト位のt-ブチル基をアミノ基、アルコキシ基、アミノアルキル基等に変換した安定化基や、かさ高いフェノキシ基についても同様の化合物を合成し、比較検討した。 3. 相互作用状況の解析 以上合成した化合物における、リン官能基と近傍の官能基の相互作用の状況を分光化学的手法により解析した。即ち、^<31>P NMRや^<77>Sc NMRにおける化学シフトやスピン・スピン結合定数から相互作用の度合いを評価した。また、赤外吸収スペクトルから、リンとカルコゲン原子の結合の強さを評価した。また、X線結晶構造解析を行い、関連する原子間の位置関係を知ることができた。

    1.新規な立体保護基の開発およびジチオキソホスホラン類の合成 本研究では、かさ高い立体保護基として、従来用いてきた2,4,6-トリ-t-ブチルフェニル基に加えて、新たに、オルト位の一方あるいは両方の置換基をエチル基、プロピル基、イソブチル基等に変換した立体保護基を開発した。また、新規な安定化基として、前述の2,4,6-トリ-t-ブチルフェニル基のオルト位の一方あるいは両方の置換基をメトキシ基、ジメチルアミノ基、ジメチルアミノメチル基、シアノメチル基、ニトロメチル基等に変換した置換基も開発した。さらに、これらの置換基を有するジチオキソホスソラン類の誘導を検討し、幾つかの安定化ジチオキソホスホランを合成した。 2.架橋したジフェニルメチレンを有するホスファルケン類の合成ならびに硫化反応 2,4,6-トリ-t-ブチルフェニル基を立体保護基として用いて、架橋および非架橋ジフェニルメチレンを有するホスファルケン類を合成し、その硫化反応について検討した。また、ジホスフィニデンシクロブテン、ホスファブタトリエン、ホスファアルキン等、これまで硫化反応が検討されていなかった化合物についても硫黄との反応を検討した。なお、本研究において、ホスファアルケン P-スルフィドとチアホスフィランの間に光原子価異性化反応が存在することを初めて見い出した。 3.低配位状態のリン・硫黄結合を持つ化合物のケトンとの反応 以上のように、リンと硫黄の結合を有する特異な構造の化合物を種々合成することができたので、これらの化合物とベンゾフェノンとの反応について検討した。その結果、ホスファアルケン P-スルフィドやアミノ基を持つ安定化ジチオキソホスホランは硫化作用を示さなかったが、メトキシ基を持つジオキソホスホランは硫化剤として働くことがわかった。

  12. リン.炭素二重結合を有する二座配位子の光による錯体形成機能制御の研究

    1.配位子の合成および光異性化の検討 本研究を開始した時点では、研究の要となる、ジボスフィニデンシクロブテン(1)の誘導体は、ほとんど例が無かった。そこで、まず種々の誘導体を合成した。即ち、以前我々が報告した方法を用いて、リン原子上にかさ高い2,4,6,-トリ-t-ブチルフェニル基を有し、1,2-位に種々の置換基(R=H,Me,t-Bu,Ph,SiMe_3等)を有する1を合成した。また、ホスファラジアレンの最初の例である1,2-ジホスファ[4]ラジアレン(2)の合成に成功した。次に、合成した1,2の光E/Z異性化について検討し、構造と異性体比の関係等について知見を得た。 2.錯体形成能の検討および物性の評価 合成した1,2について、6族および10族遷移金属錯体の合成を試みた。比較のため、単座配位子であるホスファクムレン類およびその錯体も合成した。典型的な錯体についてはX線結晶構造解析を行い構造に関する知見を得た。(E,E)-1はキレート錯体を与えたが、(E,Z)-1は一方のリンが大きな置換基で覆われるため単座配位子として働いた。しかし、光照射により配位子のE/Z異性化が起こると共に、単座配位型の錯体はキレート型の錯体へと変化した。R=SiMe_3の場合、(E,Z)-1は錯体を形成しなかった。しかし、これも反応系を光照射することにより(E,E)-型のキレート錯体を与えた。即ち、光照射により錯体の形成を制御することができた。さらに合成した幾つかの錯体および配位子の電気化学的測定を行い、酸化還元挙動について知見を得た。なお、Pb錯体については有機合成触媒としての機能を有することを確認した。(E,Z)-体では触媒能はかなり低いが、光照射により触媒能が向上することがわかった。
