    Most of waste plaster board, which contains gypsum has been buried in the landfill. However, this treatment of waste gypsum board is becoming a serious problem due to lack of landfill capacity, and secondary pollution by toxic substance. In this study, we focused a recycle of calcium resources as CaO or CaS from the waste gypsum, and developed a reduction process of the gypsum using plastics at high temperature. Reduction behavior of CaSO4 by Polyethylene at temperature from 1273 to 1573K was studied with gravimetry and X-ray diffraction analysis. From the experimental results, we found that increasing CaSO4-CH2 gas interface tend to advance the reduction of CaSO4. Furthermore, direct formation of CaS from CaSO4 was observed only at temperature of 1273K without an intermediate compounds stage, and the reduction sequence was CaSO4&rarr;CaO&rarr;CaS at temperatures higher than 1373K. Finally, the sequence of reduction process for CaSO4 was discussed on the potential diagram of the Ca-S2-O2 system.

    Waste gypsum from construction materials have to be recycled legally in Japan. The waste gypsum contains CaSO4 and other materials such as papers. And thus it is impossible to reuse them directly as a CaSO4 resource. A treatment at higher reaction temperature seems to be suitable for recycling a large quantity of the gypsum. However, CaSO4 is rather stable even at high temperature, therefore cost-intensive reactants are necessary.<BR>Re-generation of CaO or CaS from CaSO4 was investigated using waste plastics, which were considered as reduction agent. Thermodynamic simulation was employed to find optimal conditions for reduction of CaSO4. Reduction experiments were conducted using reagents of CaSO4 and polyethylene. CaO was formed from CaSO4 and polyethylene mixture over 1273K in air. Crystal water of CaSO4 accelerates the reaction forming CaO. Plastics can be successfully used to produce CaO and CaS from CaSO4 in controlled atmosphere.

    Waste gypsum from construction materials have to be recycled legally in Japan. The waste gypsum contains CaSO&lt;SUB&gt;4&lt;/SUB&gt; and other materials such as papers. And thus it is impossible to reuse them directly as a CaSO&lt;SUB&gt;4&lt;/SUB&gt; resource. A treatment at higher reaction temperature seems to be suitable for recycling a large quantity of the gypsum. However, CaSO&lt;SUB&gt;4&lt;/SUB&gt; is rather stable even at high temperature, therefore cost-intensive reactants are necessary.&lt;BR&gt;Re-generation of CaO or CaS from CaSO&lt;SUB&gt;4&lt;/SUB&gt; was investigated using waste plastics, which were considered as reduction agent. Thermodynamic simulation was employed to find optimal conditions for reduction of CaSO&lt;SUB&gt;4&lt;/SUB&gt;. Reduction experiments were conducted using reagents of CaSO&lt;SUB&gt;4&lt;/SUB&gt; and polyethylene. CaO was formed from CaSO&lt;SUB&gt;4&lt;/SUB&gt; and polyethylene mixture over 1273K in air. Crystal water of CaSO&lt;SUB&gt;4&lt;/SUB&gt; accelerates the reaction forming CaO. Plastics can be successfully used to produce CaO and CaS from CaSO&lt;SUB&gt;4&lt;/SUB&gt; in controlled atmosphere.

    To produce non-ferrous metals, the SO2 gas is also generated from the raw material such as sulfide or sulfate. A process that produces Elemental sulphur from non-ferrous smelter gas and waste plastics was investigated. <BR>Polyethylene was used as a deoxidizer of SO2 gas in the present study. The conditions for reaction of SO2 and polyethylene to make gas mixtures of H2S and SO2 were calculated thermodynamically. The Claus reaction was applied to produce elemental sulphur from H2S and SO2 gas mixture. More than 90% sulphur recovered from SO2 gas in small experimental furnaces used in the present study.

    The phase relation between the CaO-SiO&lt;SUB&gt;2&lt;/SUB&gt;-FeO&lt;SUB&gt;X&lt;/SUB&gt; slag and the Fe-O-S melt saturated with solid iron has been investigated at 1573 and 1473K by a quench-chemical analysis method. The oxygen potentials of the melts were also measured by an EMF method. The miscibility gap between oxide and sulfide was illustrated as a function of oxygen potential. The solubility of sulfur in the CaO-SiO&lt;SUB&gt;2&lt;/SUB&gt;-FeO&lt;SUB&gt;X&lt;/SUB&gt; slag determined from the phase relations increased with the increase of basicity of the slag. The interaction between sulfur and oxygen in the CaO-SiO&lt;SUB&gt;2&lt;/SUB&gt;-FeO&lt;SUB&gt;X&lt;/SUB&gt; system has been discussed, and the following equation is derived as log &lt;I&gt;P&lt;/I&gt;&lt;SUB&gt;0&lt;SUB&gt;2&lt;/SUB&gt;&lt;/SUB&gt; = log &lt;I&gt;P&lt;/I&gt;&amp;deg;&lt;SUB&gt;0&lt;SUB&gt;2&lt;/SUB&gt;&lt;/SUB&gt; - 0.096 (mass%S) + 0.0052 (mass%S)&lt;SUP&gt;2&lt;/SUP&gt;&lt;BR&gt;(0.8&lt;%S&lt;10) at 1573K, where &lt;I&gt;P&lt;/I&gt;&lt;SUB&gt;0&lt;SUB&gt;2&lt;/SUB&gt;&lt;/SUB&gt; , &lt;I&gt;P&lt;/I&gt;&amp;deg;&lt;SUB&gt;0&lt;SUB&gt;2&lt;/SUB&gt;&lt;/SUB&gt; and (mass%S) are the oxygen partial pressure, the oxygen pressure for the CaO-SiO&lt;SUB&gt;2&lt;/SUB&gt;-FeO&lt;SUB&gt;X&lt;/SUB&gt; system and mass% of S in the slag, respectively.

    種々の実験条件下(反応温度、ネオジウムアセチルアセテート昇華温度、有機錯体搬送用Ar流量、還元用H2流量など)でNd(acac)3 (ネオジウムアセチルアセテート)の水素還元を行ったところ(250℃~300℃)、金属NdでなくNd2O3が得られた。一般に、金属アセチルアセテートは約300℃以下の熱分解において主にアセチルアセトンとわずかのCO2が生じる。Nd(acac)3 の還元において、生成した金属Ndが発生したCO2により酸化された可能性がある。そのため、供給するNd(acac)3に対して大過剰のH2を供給した実験を行ったが金属Ndは得られなかった。このことから、発生する可能性のあるCO2酸素分圧の影響を検討するためCu, Ni, Co, Feの各金属アセチルアセトナートの水素実験を行ったところ、250℃~300℃の低温において、どの場合も金属が得られた。また生成した金属は粉末でなく、反応管内部表面に薄膜として生成した。これらの金属を酸化するにはNdに比べてかなり大きい酸素分圧を必要とする。当初、Nd(acac)3 を250℃程度の低温で還元するため、生成した金属Ndの酸化速度は遅く、酸化物生成量はわずかであると想定していたが、生成するNd粒子は非常に小さいと想定でき、わずかなCO2でも容易に粒子全体を酸化したと考えられる。 これらの結果に基づき、酸素分圧を可能な限り低減させるため、(1)H2とArガスの脱酸と脱水、およびNd(acac)3試薬の脱水などの処理を行った実験の遂行の準備とともに、(2)Nd(acac)3 -hacac混合溶液の有機電解実験(装置組み立て)、および(3)Nd(acac)3nのガス水素還元でなく、Nd(acac)3 -hacac混合溶液においてNaBH4などの有機金属水素物を用いた液相還元実験の準備(装置組み立てなど)を進めている。

    中国における金属製錬プロセスから発生する、二酸化炭素と硫化物を含む排ガスの無害化と二酸化炭素の回収を目標として、これらのガス成分を選択的に吸着および脱離することが出来る新規多機能複合酸化物を開発を目指した。また、中国における二酸化炭素および硫化物を含む製錬排ガスに最適化した吸収材の提案を行うことを目的に、中国国内における鉄鋼会社で調査を行うことを予定していたが、COVID-19の影響でその調査活動の進展は限定的であった。文献調査と熱力学的検討により二酸化炭素吸収材の候補を探査した。 CaOはCO2吸収能があることから、CO2の分離回収材として有望である反面、吸収能の安定性の面から繰り返し特性が問題となる。CaOにほかの酸化物を加え複合化することで反応性と安定性の両立を図った。候補となるCO2吸収材に対して熱力学的な反応性および安定性を評価したうえで、合成を行い試料を作成した。CO2ガスの吸収、脱離実験を行い、反応速度の観点から反応特性を検討し、さらに安定性を評価するためにサイクル性について検討を行った。さらに、吸着、脱離に対して温度スイングおよび圧力スイング法の両方について検討する予定であったが、特別研究員が中国国内における就職を準備するため帰国を希望したため、研究の中断に至った。現状では、合成したCO2吸収材の性能評価は限定的であるが、プログラム終了後の共同研究を継続し追加実験を通して成果を発表することが期待できる。

    近年、MgGd系合金の高強度化のために、Nd, Er, Ceなどの他の希土類元素で合金化することがトピックになっている。Mg8Gd0.5Zr (wt.%) 合金に 1 wt.% の Er を添加した場合、高強度合金が生成され、常温での強度が 560 MPa まで改善されることが報告されている。我々の以前の研究では、従来の熱間押出と時効処理によって高強度Mg8Gd1.2Zn0.5Ce0.5Zr(wt.%)合金を作製し、UTSおよびYSはそれぞれ約461MPaおよび458MPaであった。MgGd系にさらに他の元素を加え合金化することは,比較的安価に高強度合金を開発する有効な方法の一つである。本研究では、Mg8Gd1.2Zn0.5Zr(wt.%)合金を母合金として選択し、0.75 wt.%のLaを添加した。ZnはMgマトリックスへのREの固溶を低減し、長周期積層規則(LPSO)相を導入して強度を高めることができるため、時効硬化反応を高めるためによく採用される[26-28]。同時に、Zrを添加することで結晶粒を著しく微細化することができた[29]。研究対象合金の常温および高温での微細構造および機械的性質を徹底的に調査した。最後に,微細構造の観察に基づいて,基礎となる強化機構を分析し,議論した.

    In order to reduce the CO_2 emissions from global warming issue, the novel solid absorbent based on alkaline earth oxides material was proposed. The effects of addition of other alkaline earth metal oxides to CaO on the CO_2 adsorption energy were also investigated both theoretically and experimentally. On the basis of these results, the favorable process and materials for CO_2 reduction using BaO-TiO_2 or Li_2O-TiO_2 were studied. Moreover, the large scale ab-initio calculations were performed for an accurate estimation of adsorption energy of CO_2 on the CaO and BaO (001)surfaces.

    ハロゲン元素を含有する廃プラスチックと石膏ボード等の廃石膏を反応させふっ化カルシウム、塩化カルシウム、元素硫黄等の資源を回収するプロセスを構築出来れば上記の問題を同時に解決することが可能になる。本研究はハロゲン含有プラスチック分解の際に発生するハロゲン系ガスを廃石膏等の固体廃棄物と反応させ、ふっ化カルシウム、塩化カルシウムなどを生成し固定無害化することを目的とする。石膏および塩化物、ふっ化物系プラスチックの反応条件を制御し、CaCl2、 CaF2の生成実験を行った。反応条件は熱力学的平衡からCaCl2、 CaF2が生成する範囲に限定したが反応条件の差異により生成状況も変化する。 反応方法方法として(1)プラスチック類と石膏を混合し加熱、(2)プラスチック類を乾留し発生ガスと石膏を反応、(3)高温の石膏にプラスチックを投入し反応、を選択した。 (1)および(2)の方法ではCaCl、 CaF2が生成せず、石膏と塩化物の反応温度とプラスチックのガス化温度の差異、ガス発生時の残留チャーによる還元性雰囲気の有無が反応に寄与した。 (3)の方法ではCaCl2およびCaF2の生成が可能であり、生成条件として以下の知見を得た。 □石膏とふっ素樹脂の反応によりふっ素を固定するには1173K以上の高温が有利である。 □CaF2の生成には水和石膏のH2Oが反応を促進する傾向が観察された。 □CaSO4と塩化ビニルからのCaCl2の生成では1073K以下ではほとんど反応が進行しない、一方1273K程度では迅速に反応が進行する。

    The fundamental investigations for a phase diagram and thermodynamic properties of the MnO-SiO2-CaO and FeO-SiO2-CaO slag systems with iron saturation were carried out in an aim to develop new cobalt smelting for a cobalt rich crust. The phase diagram of the MnO-SiO2-CaO system was determined at 1573K with iron saturation. The liquidus lines and phase equilibrium relations are agreement with the previous data by Glasser et al. Distribution ratios of cobalt and phosphorus between the MnO-SiO2-CaO or FeO-SiO2-CaO slags and liquid iron were measured at 1823K. the values of cobalt between the MnO-SiO2-CaO or FeO-SiO2-CaO slags and iron showed the around 0.001-0.01, and the cobalt is enriched to liquid iron. The ratios of phosphorus between the MnO-SiO2-CaO or FeO-SiO2-CaO slags and liquid iron increased with increasing of CaO concentration in the slag. CaO rich slags are available for the elimination of phosphorus from Co-Fe alloys. Based on the distribution ratios, the activity coefficients of CoO and PO2.5 in the MnO-SiO2-CaO and FeO-SiO2-CaO slags were derived at 1823K. The values for CoO in the MnO-SiO2-CaO slag system were form 1 to 2, and these values for FeO-SiO2-CaO slags were around 0.2-0.4. On the other hand, the activity coefficients of PO2.5 in the MnO-SiO2-CaO and FeO-SiO2-CaO slags showed very small values as γ=10^<-8>-10^<-4>.

    石膏と炭化水素ガスの反応により石膏中の硫黄成分の還元回収シミュレーション計算と実証実験を平行しておこなった。当初、石膏中の硫黄成分の85%以上を還元しその95%を元素硫黄として回収することを目標としたが、石膏からの硫黄系ガスの分離および硫黄系ガスからの元素硫黄回収が可能であった。 プラスチックと石膏および製錬排ガスの反応を平衡計算によりシミュレーションを行った。熱力学的には炭化水素ガスを用いた石膏起源の硫黄系ガスおよび製錬排ガスの還元はほぼ完全に進行することが判る。一方、実験には小型の電気抵抗炉とガス供給ユニットを用いてポリエチレンを還元剤とした石膏および模擬硫酸工場排ガスからの元素硫黄回収を行った。本研究結果は廃石膏、製錬排ガスから硫酸ではなく元素硫黄を経済的に回収・固定できる可能性を示し,以下のことを明らかにした。 ・プラスチックを還元剤として石膏を分解できる。 ・プラスチックから発生したガスをSO_2ないしはSO_2と空気の混合ガスとを反応させ,473K〜523K程度の温度で凝縮させることにより高純度の元素硫黄を回収することが出来る。 ・973K程度の高温における平衡状態でSO_2とH_2Sの比が1/2となるように導入する廃プラスチックと硫黄系ガスの初期混合比を制御すれば,低温域でガス中の硫黄95%以上がクラウス反応等により元素硫黄として凝集し回収出来る。 ・生成ガスがH_2S過剰となる還元性の場合は硫黄凝縮炉の温度を制御することで熱力学的平衡計算により生成する硫黄よりも多くの固体硫黄を回収できる。

    Amount of metal residue from incinerators or melting furnaces of incinerator bottom ash has been increased in Japan. The metal residue contains valuable metals such as copper, silver and gold. Main components of the metal residue are copper, phosphorus, silicon and iron of the remainder. Copper content is 5 to 20% and too low to recover the valuable metals in a conventional copper smelter, so a new approach to upgrading the valuable metals with phase separation in molten metal system was researched. Whereas the binary melt of iron and copper is miscible over all composition, the addition of carbon or phosphorus to the binary melt leads to phase separation between an iron phase and a copper phase. The copper phase absorbing the precious metals is feasible for refining in a conventional copper smelter. Fundamental information about the phase separation, recovery of copper and distribution ratio of the valuable metals are presented. Based on the mass-balance reaction and the solubility of copper in iron and iron in copper phases obtained in this study, copper recovery from the incineration metal residue containing iron and copper was calculated. Assuming that all copper in copper phase is recovered, and the copper dissolved in iron phase is loss, copper recovery is represented against copper grade in residue as shown in Fig. 8. When copper recovery by applying the phase separation of Cu-Fe-P system is carried out, copper recoveries from metal residues containing 10 and 30% copper are 35 and 80%, respectively. On the other hand, cooper recoveries with the phase separation of Cu-Fe-P-C system are 50 and 90% from metal residues containing 10 and 30% copper, respectively. The distribution ratios of silver, gold, palladium, platinum and rhodium are listed in Table II. We can recognize the gold, silver and palladium are enriched in copper phase, on the contrary rhodium is more distributed to iron phase than to copper. Platinum is comparatively distributed to both phases.

    鉛は環境汚染元素としてその使用が極力制限される情勢にある。また亜鉛は、人間が採掘できる地下資源として最も早く枯渇することが懸念される元素である。資源の賦存状態から、鉛と亜鉛は相互に伴って産出することが多く、また工業的な生産も双方が密接に関連して行われる。 現在鉛の大部分は自動車用バッテリーとして用いられ、劣化したバッテリーの処理は、その業界の責任の基に一応のリサイクルシステムが成立している。しかし近年の鉛地金の低落を背景にリサイクルを行うための経済メリットが生じないような状況では、末端の集荷段階で廃バッテリーの行き場が失われ、それによる環境汚染の懸念が生じている。亜鉛は生物体に害悪を与える金属とされるが、鉄の防食のための鍍金として大部分用いられることから、リサイクルし難い元素である。鉄を電気炉で溶解する際発生するダストを捕集し、これを再処理することにより亜鉛の生産量の10%程度はリサイクルされている。一方、亜鉛と鉛は揮発しやすい元素であるため、一般廃棄物及び産業廃棄物の焼却炉及びそれに関連した炉で発生する焼却飛灰に濃縮し、この飛灰を処理するシステムは出来あがっていない。また処理の困難な焼却飛灰の発生量の把握も十分に成されていない。 そのため、使用済みの鉛、亜鉛が国内でどのように移動し、処理されているかを把握し、最適なリサイクルシステムを確立するための研究講演会を行い、平成17年に京都で開催される国際会議「LEAD & ZINC in KYOTO'05」で大学関係者に集中的に調査研究し、発表してもらうテーマを設定し実施のための体制を整えた。
