    Dense film electrodes are used to understand the reaction mechanisms of solid oxide cells. However, the oxygen vacancy concentration, δ, in films differ from that in bulk materials, which can mislead the understanding of the reaction mechanism. Therefore, a comprehensive study was conducted to elucidate the differences in δ for the air electrode, La0.6Sr0.4Co1−y Fe y O3−δ (LSCF, y = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1), between film and bulk electrodes. Two key findings emerged: (1) For Co-rich compositions (y ≤ 0.5), significant differences in δ were observed between films and bulk electrodes, while (2) for Fe-rich compositions (y ≥ 0.6), there was almost no difference in δ. Plausible reasons for these discrepancies were investigated: (1) lattice stress in the film, (2) compositional variation within the film electrode, and (3) changes in the electronic conduction. High-temperature X-ray diffraction revealed no significant differences in lattice constant between films and bulk electrodes, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy indicated no changes in electronic structure. However, scanning transmission electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy revealed the presence of Co3 O4 formation within the film, suggesting local compositional variations. Therefore, the results indicate that local compositional differences are the most likely factor affecting δ in LSCF films.

    Tohoku University has been conducting research on the mechanical reliability of SOFCs under the financial support by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial technology Development Organization, Japan). Both numerical and experimental approaches have been taken at various levels, from electrochemical to structural analyses. An in-house code, SIMUDEL, was developed to simulate oxygen potential distribution inside the constituent materials in order to account for the chemical strain in cell/stack analyses. Non-linear stress-strain behaviors and inelastic deformation of the materials were characterized to improve the accuracy of the simulation. Predicting actual cell behavior, however, is still difficult, as unexpected factors often remain for each specific case. It is thus important to have in-situ or operando tools to observe the behavior of cells, such as deformation and stress generation. For that purpose, laser profilometer and X-ray stress analyzer were employed with a specially designed cell holder. Methods for evaluating local current density was also proposed. Currently, we are developing a protocol for testing robustness of planar SOFCs. Severe condition tests will be performed, and the results will be analyzed with the above-mentioned simulation.

    The reaction mechanism in an SOFC composite cathode was investigated by using patterned thin film model electrodes. In this work, we proposed new types of model electrodes, which could reproduce SOFCs cathodic reactions in a composite electrode of a mixed conducting electrode and an electrolyte. Then the model electrode was fabricated by choosing La0.6Sr0.4CoO3-δ (LSC) and Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95 (GDC) as the electrode and the electrolyte, respectively. From the DC polarization measurements of the model electrode, it was found that making a composite of LSC and GDC can improve the cathodic performance especially at lower temperatures, possibly due to higher oxide ion conduction in GDC than LSC.

    Lattice defects significantly affect the mechanical properties of crystalline metal oxides. The materials for the components of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are no exception, and hence understanding of the interplay between lattice defects and the mechanical properties of components is important to ensure the mechanical stability of SOFCs. Herein, we performed an in situ evaluation of the temperature and P(O2) dependence of the elastic moduli of La2NiO4 (LN214), a candidate for the cathode material of SOFCs, using the resonance method to understand the influence of interstitial oxygen on its elastic properties. Above 873 K, both the Young’s and shear moduli of LN214 slightly decreased with increasing P(O2), suggesting that these elastic moduli are correlated with interstitial oxygen concentration and decreased with increasing interstitial oxygen. We analyzed the influence of interstitial oxygen on the Young’s modulus of LN214, based on numerically obtained lattice energy. The P(O2) dependence of the Young’s modulus of LN214 was found to be essentially explained by variation in the c-lattice constant, which was triggered by variation in interstitial oxygen concentration. These findings may contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between lattice defects and mechanical properties, and to the improvement of the mechanical stability of SOFCs.

    <title>Abstract</title>This paper discusses the relationship between the elongation and compression behavior and microstructural changes under redox cycles of porous Ni(O)–YSZ cermets for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). Mechanical damage in SOFC and SOEC is one of the most important degradation factors governing the electrical performance of cells. Therefore, it is necessary to know the mechanical properties of each component material, such as elastic and deformation properties, in the operating environment. Particularly, of the Ni(O)–YSZ cermets which currently makes up 90% of the volume of the cell, with present mainstream anode supported SOFC and SOEC. Therefore, understanding the properties of the Ni(O)–YSZ cermets plays an important role in ensuring the performance of the entire SOFC and SOEC. In this study, the microstructural changes of Ni(O)–YSZ cermet by reduction, re-oxidation and re-reduction were observed in detail using microstructural observations and systematically compared with the dimensional change behavior. For the dimensional change behavior, a simple model considering the initial porosity and Ni content is proposed, which successfully predicts the dimensional change due to re-oxidation. Furthermore, Ni(O)–YSZ cermets with high Ni content show large initial dimensional changes, but the dimensional reversibility improves with increase of the number of redox cycles.

    We propose a new method of multi-scale analysis for plate-like devices such as a flat plate cell of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), which is classified into a composite plate composed of in-plane periodic structures. To characterize the macroscopic nonlinear mechanical behavior of the in-plane periodic structure, the method of numerical plate testing is employed. Since the obtained relationships between macroscopic generalized strains and stress cannot be represented by an equivalent homogeneous plate with a single material, we introduce a surrogate model composed of homogeneous layers that is expected to exhibit the same macroscopic responses. After the material parameters of these layers are identified, the macroscopic analysis becomes possible by use of a laminated structure with continuum solid shell elements available in a general-purpose finite element program. Representative numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the capability of the proposed multi-scale analysis method.

    The influence of uniaxial compressive strain/stress on the O2- ion conductivity of an yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) sample was investigated by using electrochemical measurement. The conductivity was investigated by the AC four-probe method and molecular dynamics simulation. The applied compressive strain/stress ranged from 0 to 0.0003 (stress: 1.5--55 MPa) for the specimen in air at 873, 973, and 1073 K. To clarify the reason for the phenomenon of the decline in conductivity, the relaxation time for the conductivity after the application of strain/stresses was measured. The experimental result revealed that as the applied compressive strain/stress increases, the carrier concentration remains steady, whereas the mobility decreases. The conductivity was decreased with increasing compressive strain, and this trend agreed with that of the simulation results. Therefore, the decrease in mobility was considered to be the reason for the decline in conductivity under compressive strain/stress conditions.

    Solid Oxide Fuel Cell, which has high efficiency of electric power generation, is one of the key technologies for us to reach to the low carbon society. Over 30 years' basic research of SOFC leads it just to launch to practical use in the real world, whereas the accumulation of huge amount of research data, especially material data, urges to be restructured as well-organized knowledge to interoperably share and reuse for both enterprise and research institute. Therefore we establish such knowledge management infrastructure that enables designers to design SOFC system from the viewpoint of comprehensiveness; furthermore, we develop practical software tools to realize the infrastructure. Our approach mainly consists of three phases. The first phase is to build SOFC material database using MatML (Materials Markup Language) which is an XML (eXtensible Markup Language) designed for materials property data. The second phase is to externalize functional knowledge of devices as the form of function decompositions tree according to each process in product life cycle of SOFC by means of functional modeling technique based on ontology engineering. Finally those trees are integrated and visualized in 3D virtual space. We discuss a methodology of cross-process design support for SOFC systems, and introduce our prototype system based on the methodology.

    In this study, Crystal structure and mechanical properties of K_2NiF_4 type oxides were measured by high temperature X-ray diffractometry and in-situ small punch test as a function of oxygen partial pressure, P(O_2) and temperature. Chemically induced volume change was evaluated by nonstoichiometric data and the variation of the lattice constants with P(O_2). The elastic modulus and the fracture strength become larger at higher P(O_2) condition. This may be caused by the structural change due to the variation of oxygen content.

    Powder Jet Deposition (PJD) method is one of the film forming technique& Ceramics films can be fabricated by this method Ytariastabilized zirconia (YSZ) thin films were deposited on various substrates by PJD method YSZ thin film was fabricated in systemically changed substrates, particle sizes and carrier gas pressures. The microstructures of YSZ films were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). From this study results, the amount of deposition rate by PJD method varies according to substrate hardness and powder size. Similarly, the film structures are affected by substrate and powder size. Additionally, the electrical conductivity of YSZ film on Al_2O_3 substrate was measured as a function of temperature using impedance and two-probe A.C. method From this measurement, the amount of this film's electrical conductivity is good agreement from other studies of YSZ bulks. This result shows probability of application to high temperature ceramics devices such as Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs), gas sensors.

    The influence of chemically-induced expansion on the fracture damage of a ceria based solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) was investigated by using numerical stress analyses. The single cell examined in this study was composed of electrolyte [(CeO2) 0.8 (SmO1.5) 0.2], anode (Cermets of NiO-20 SDC), and cathode (La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3), respectively. The finite element method was employed to calculate the residual stress, thermal stresses, and chemically-induced expansion stresses for the single cell. The residual and thermal stresses were calculated much smaller than the fracture strength of the individual components of the single cell. On the other hand, the chemically-induced expansion stresses were shown to remarkably increase for the temperature range greater than 973 K and accounted their magnitude for the primary part of the induced stress. It was shown from the stress analysis that the maximum stress induced in the single cell exceeded the fracture strength of the individual components at the onset of the fracture damage detect by acoustic emission method. The above-mentioned calculation results suggest that the chemically-induced expansion should be taken into account for the use of ceria based ceramics materials in SOFCs.

    The purpose of present research is to estimate the degradation mechanism of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) by using combining non-destructive test and electrochemical measurement during loading test Mechanical degradation and chemically degradation were investigated by acoustic emission (AE) measurement system and electrochemical measurement,respectively. In the investigation of fracture process with AE amplitude distributions, high amplitude signal, middle amplitude signal and low amplitude signal correspond to vertical craking, delamination in the cathode, and vertical cracking in the elctrolyte respectively. It was demonstrated that the AE method enabled us to detect the above-mentioned mechanical damage and to determine the condition for the onset of the damage in the single cell.

    Temperature and frequency dependence of Young's modulus and internal friction of La_<0.6>Sr_<0.4>Co_<0.2>Fe_<0.8>O_<3-δ> were evaluated by dynamic mechanical analysis. A relaxation peak in the internal friction which follows a significant decrease in the Young's modulus was observed. It was suggested that the peak was derived from domain reorientations. An introduction of oxygen vacancies into the sample significantly changed the temperature dependence of the Young's modulus and the internal friction. The Young's modulus became larger especially below 400 K. A small peak which depended on the oxygen vacancy concentration was observed when the oxygen vacancies were introduced. This peak was considered to be due to oxygen vacancy diffusion. Such significant changes in the temperature dependence of the Young's modulus and the internal friction may be caused by crystal structure change and pinning of domain walls by the oxygen vacancies.

    We have attempted to construct multiscale model which can simulate inelastic deformation and stress state under operating conditions. It would need to the information about mechanical properties of solid oxide fuel cell constituent materials under operating condition for analysis model building up process and simulation indeed. Therefore, mechanical property of Ni-YSZ and yttria stabilized zirconia, used as SOFC common materials are evaluated under simulated operating condition by developed In-situ mechanical testing machine. From experimental result, Ni-YSZ composite has showed that ductile-like deformation was induced under 800℃/H_2 condition for the Ni contents of 30 and 50 vol. % from the SP tests, and creep behavior is due to its ductility from creep tests. On the other hand, 8YSZ has showed creep rupture propagation guessed crack growth under air/850℃ condition.

    Effects of of the redox cycling on the volume expansion of Ni-YSZ cermets was investigated as a function of porosity and Ni/YSZ volume ratio by using a thermo-mechanical analysis (TMA). The first re-oxidation tests results obtained from TMA demonstrated that the amount of expansion was decreased and suppressed by lowering the Ni content of the anode and increasing the porosity. However specemen which had the large amount of Ni (50 vol.%) and the high porosity (34%) showed the high dimensional stability after several redox cycls. The large shrinkage upon reduction coused by the large amount of Ni and the low expantion upon oxidation caused by the high porosity enhanced redox reversibility.

    Various properties of the metal oxides are strongly affected by the nonstoichiometry. Therefore, nonstoichiometry is very important for understanding the basic character of the metal oxides. Nonstoichiometry of the metal oxides is often measured by the gravimetric measurements at high temperature under controlled atmospheres. As the vapor pressure of the metal is negligibly small compared to the oxygen, the nonstoichiometry behavior of the metal oxides is often measured as a function of the oxygen partial pressure.<br>In this article, a brief review is made for the experimental technique of nonstoichiometry measurements by means of high temperature gravimetry under controlled gas-atmospheres: The oxygen nonstoichiometry is measured as the weight change at different oxygen partial pressures. The principle of the measurement is very simple. However, as the measurement is carried out at the equilibrium conditions at the high temperature under controlled oxygen partial pressures, and moreover, as the measurements often extend over a long period of time, the precision and long-time stability of the measuring system are important. Other important reminders will also be shown for the measurements procedure of the gas controlled high temperature microbalance.

    Transport properties of proton-conducting oxides, which are expected as electrolytes for high efficiency fuel cells, are affected by the mobile holes and oxide ions. An equivalent circuit model was proposed to enable simple evaluation of their behaviors using a general-purpose circuit simulator. A surrogate model with the gas-solid exchange resistances of hydrogen, water vapor, and oxygen as parameters was developed for a fast search for combinations of electrode resistances that reproduce the experimental results. Transport constants which are necessary for the calculation were measured, and the calculated results were experimentally verified.

    In this work, the identification of reaction path in solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) cathodes, in particular, separate evaluation of the contribution of electrode reaction through triple/double phase boundaries, were performed. For these purposes, we proposed and fabricated original model electrodes, so-called patterned thin film electrode, and performed electrochemical/spectroscopic measurements with them. As results, dominant reaction path in conventional SOFC cathodes were identified. It was found that the contribution of the reaction through triple phase boundaries were significant even in mixed ionic and electronic conducting SOFC cathodes. This finding demonstrated that a new concept considering the contribution of triple phase boundary is necessary for the design of high performance SOFC cathode. Furthermore, the proposed patterned thin film electrode was also applied to investigate the mechanism of Cr poisoning for SOFC cathodes.

    In this work, we succeeded to establish operando soft X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopic (SXAS and SXES) techniques, which enable us to simultaneously evaluate electronic structures in occupied and unoccupied orbitals of functionalized oxides while controlling temperature, atmosphere, and polarization. The developed techniques were applied to investigate the electronic structures of complex oxides containing 3d transition metals for the solid oxide fuel cell cathodes under their operating conditions. The developed operando SXAS and SXES techniques are expected as a powerful tool for the deep understandings of materials' functions and their natures by clarifying the electronic structures under their usage environments.

    In this work, in situ soft X-ray absorption spectroscopic technique, which can be used to analyze electronic structures of functionalized oxides under controlled atmosphere, temperature and polarization, was established. By applying the differential evacuation system for ambient pressure soft x-ray spectrocopy togehter with the specific sample holder developed in this work, in situ soft X-ray absroption spectroscopic measurements were made possible at high temperature while controlling atmosphere under polarization. Through measurements with LaCoO3 and La2NiO4 as model oxides, it was found that absorption spectra could be clearly obtained below 873 K of temperature and 0.01 bar of oxygen partial pressure.The established in situ analytical technique can be a powerful and versatile tool for the direct observation of electronic structures of functionalized oxides used for high temperature devices.

    The chemical potential distribution of the reactive atomic species in high temperature electrochemical devices, such as the oxygen chemical potential in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), was experimentally evaluated under device operating conditions. As results, we succeeded for the first time to clarify the oxygen potential distribution and the effective reaction area in the SOFC mixed-conducting porous cathode. Influences of such a chemical potential distribution on the device performance and durability were also investigated from the thermodynamic and kinetic points of view, taking the SOFC porous cathode as a model case.

    Chemical diffusion coefficients, D_<chem>, of Sr(Zr,Y)O_3、Ba(Ce,Y)O_3 were determined by conductivity relaxation method. Dchem are essentially independent of partial pressures of hydrogen and water. Self diffusion coefficients of oxygen vacancy and hydrogen were estimated from D_<chem> and defect concentration. As a result, the self diffusion coefficients seem to be independent of the gas partial pressures. These results are supported by isotope diffusion experiments.

    1.Oxygen nonstoichiometry in a (La, Sr)CoO3 film on a (Ce, Gd)O2 substrate was investigated. Instead of using a thermogravimetry, a new electrochemical technique was developed. The electrochemical impedance was measured for the thin film using the (Ce, Gd)O2 substrate as an electrolyte. Since the rate determining step was surface reaction, the high frequency ac current measured the quantity of oxygen which is transported between the film and the electrolyte. The frequency response of the impedance gave the oxygen nonstoichiometry change. Several (La, Sr)CoO3 films of various Sr content were evaluated.. Enthalpy of oxygen vacancy formation was found to be larger for the films than for the bulk. This implies that the film shows smaller oxygen vacancy concentration than expected from the reported data for the bulk. Effect of grain size and the type of substrate on the vacancy formation enthalpy was investigated to find no clear evidence. 2.Several separate topics were investigated on the relation between microstructure and nonstoichiometry of perovskites. (1)The reason of oxygen excess nonstoichiometry of LaMnO3 was confirmed to be the formation of cation vacancy. A sever change of microstructure was observed on the surface of LaMnO3 due to the formation and annihilation of cation vacancies. (2)A slow cation diffusion in an n-type SrTiO3 was found to limit the cation equilibration to a thin layer around the surface. Several unique functions, such as high temperature rectification function, were found to originate from the existence of the surface layer. (3)Microscopic fluctuation of composition in (La, Ca)(Cr, Al)O3 solid solution was found to affect its macroscopic oxygen nonstoichiometry. Quantitative representation of the oxygen nonstoichiometry was developed including the local composition fluctuation.

    In-situ Raman microscope analysis was performed to investigate carbon deposition and its electrochemical oxidation on a fuel electrode of a solid oxide fuel cell, and the following results were obtained. 1. We have developed a sample heating stage that was specially designed for high temperature electrochemical testing under optical microscope and Raman microscope. Two separate chambers were installed into the stage, which enabled a sample electrolyte pellet to be placed under fuel gas and air. By using the heating stage, it was possible to investigate observe carbon deposition processes at electrode/electrolyte system under a thermodynamically controlled atmospheres. 2. Electrochemical oxidation process of methane was investigated by combined electrochemical measurements and gas analysis. It was found that oxidation of methane proceeds not directly but via local steam reforming processes on the electrode. 3. Platinum and nickel model electrodes were fabricated on yttria stabilized zirconia electrolyte pellets. Microscopic observation of the carbon deposition, as well as the characterization of the deposited carbon were performed under methane and liquid petroleum gasses (LPG, n-butane). In the case of platinum electrode under LPG, two Raman bands called 'D-band' and 'G-band' were observed indicating the deposition of disordered carbon and graphite, respectively. The deposition of carbon can be observed also by optical microscope as color change of electrode surface. Optical microscope observation revealed that the carbon is deposited not uniformly on the electrode but expands gradually from the position where the first carbon is deposited. On the other hand, on a nickel electrode under methane fuel, only graphite was found by Raman spectroscopy. The deposited graphite was hard to be removed by electrochemical pumping of oxygen through the electrolyte.

    ペロブスカイト型ABO_3,スピネル型AB_2O_4等の複酸化物が元の酸化物AO_2,BO等から生成する生成自由エネルギーは金属の酸化等に比べて極めて小さい.従って,複酸化物を挟んで化学ポテンシャル差が与えられると,熱力学的にはこの複酸化物は容易に元の単純酸化物に分離する筈である.この分離はイオン移動を伴うため,この現象がどの程度起こるかはイオンの拡散がどの程度起こるかによって決まると考えられる.本研究では固体酸化物燃料電池材料であるペロブスカイト型酸化物LaMnO_3,YCrO_3などをモデル物質として取り上げ,この腐食分解現象を実証し,理論との関連を示すことを目指した. 昨年度までに理論計算により,広い範囲で固溶体形成する系では1000℃以上でも腐食分解が起こるまでの時間は観測可能範囲の時間を超えること,ペロブスカイト型酸化物の様に二種の金属イオンが異なる結晶学的位置を占める系では,SIMSで観測できる程度の腐食分解の兆候は数百時間で起こり得ることなどが示され,LaMnO_3についての直流印可の下での実験でその実証が行われた. 本年度は酸素ポテンシャル勾配下での実験をLaMnO_3,La_<0.7>Sr_<0.3>MnO_3について進めた.前者はLa/Mn比に0.9-1.0にわたる不定比組成幅があり,その安定範囲が酸素分圧によって変わるためにMn酸化物析出が起こることが判り,酸素ポテンシャル勾配下での腐食分解を明確に実証することが困難であると結論された.後者では,酸素ポテンシャル勾配を与えた後の試料表面に,ポテンシャル勾配の方向に依らず酸化ランタンが析出する予想外の結果が出た.LaMnO_3中のLaの拡散がMn拡散より著しく速い場合,腐食分解で析出した酸化マンガンは移動してきたランタンと反応してペロブスカイト相に戻るのに対して,析出した酸化ランタンは取り残されてしまうことが原因と考えられる.

    The objective of this research has been to develop a "scanning chemical potential microscope" that measures the chemical potential profiles on catalysts or electrodes in order to investigate the reaction kinetics. In this research project, we have invented an oxygen potential probe, and applied it for the investigation of gas electrode reaction on a solid oxide electrolyte. (1)The concept of Porous Oxygen Sensor (POS), was developed. Stabilized zirconia or ceria was sintered into a porous pellet, and put on a sample surface. Oxygen potential on the sample surface was measured against a Pt reference electrode that was applied on the other side of POS by a potentiometric method. (2) The POS method was successfully applied to the kinetic study of oxygen incorporation reaction through a mixed ionic / electronic conductor electrode. The overvoltage for the two surface reaction processes were determined by using POS. (3) Kinetic model and the parameters obtained by POS were quite reasonable, proving that POS method is usable for a quantitative analysis. (4) POS microprobes were fabricated by coating zirconia powders on Pt based metal wires. The topologically identical structure with normal POS was realized in a micrometer space. A commercial probe for micro thermal analysis was used as a fine Pt-Rh probe base. It was coated with YSZ in two methods, i.e. slurry coating and thermal decomposition of metal organic precursors. By the latter method, a fine probe with lateral resolution higher than one micron was fabricated. (5) Sample heating stage was fabricated for the in-situ measurements of YSZ based electrolyte. It was installed on an atomic force micro probe scanner, and operated at 700 ℃. (6) Space resolved analysis of surface oxygen potential was successfully performed on a LaMnO3 based electrode.

    In the perovskite-type oxides, ABO_3, oxygen vacancies are easily formed while metal vacancies are not. Particularly, B-site vacancy is considered hardly exists because they are closely linked each other via oxygen ions to form a rigid crystal structure. LaMnO_3-based perovskite-type oxides are known to display metal deficient nonstoichiometry under oxygen rich atmospheres. The defect structure related to this nonstoichiometry has been a big unsolved problem. Neutron and X-ray diffraction studies could not reveal the position of defects whether on A-site only or on both A- and B-site. Moreover, there is no clear experimental evidence whether the predominant defect is oxygen interstitial or metal vacancy. This project aims to clarify the nature of defects in the perovskite-type oxides with particular focus on the metal deficient nonstoichiometry of LaMnO_3. Measurements were made on volume variation of dense LaMnO_3 with the variation of oxygen partial pressure between 0.0001 and 1 atm by a dilatometer. A sample of 15 mm in length expands with oxidation and contracts with reduction for 10 〜 20 μm in 10 days. A high temperature XRD analysis gives the change of lattice volume in the inverse direction. This result infers the predominant defect of metal deficient LaMnO_3 as metal vacancy. Since the diffusion of ions proceeds via vacancy, the diffusivity of A- and B-site ions are measured to compare the defect concentration of both sites. As an example of oxygen deficient perovskite-type oxides, YCrO_3 was selected and impurity diffusion coefficient of La on A-site and Mn on B-site were measured. Unexpectedly, the diffusion coefficient of La and Mn was essentially the same, suggesting that the concentration of vacancy on A- and B-site are the same. As to the metal deficient LaMnO_3, impurity difusion on B-site was found smaller than that on A-site by several orders of magnitude. In the metal deficient LaMnO_3, vacancies are predominantly formed on A-site.
