    Local host-plant use of leaf-rolling attelabid weevils was quantitatively analyzed in Matsunoyama, Tokamachi-city, Niigata Prefecture, Honsyu, Japan. Based on 1125 leaf rolls obtained in the study area, 27 species of 17 families were identified as host plants for 11 attelabid species and one species complex. Most of polyphagous attelabid species studied strongly showed the so-called 'local feeding specialization', i.e., they used one or two plant species only in the study area. Both specialist and generalist weevils were minority. Further, the generalists were divided into two major types. Various types were recognized in the pattern of host-plant use by leaf-rolling weevils studied. The families Fagaceae and Cornaceae were well used by more than one attelabid species or species complex as host plants. The evolution of niche shift in the host-plant use occurred in leaf-rolling weevils was discussed.
