    We describe a setup of time-, spin-, and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (tr-SARPES) employing a 10.7 eV (λ = 115.6 nm) pulse laser at a 1 MHz repetition rate as a probe photon source. This equipment effectively combines the technologies of a high-power Yb:fiber laser, ultraviolet-driven harmonic generation in Xe gas, and a SARPES apparatus equipped with very-low-energy-electron-diffraction spin detectors. A high repetition rate (1 MHz) of the probe laser allows experiments with the photoemission space-charge effects significantly reduced, despite a high flux of 1013 photons/s on the sample. The relatively high photon energy (10.7 eV) also brings the capability of observing a wide momentum range that covers the entire Brillouin zone of many materials while ensuring high momentum resolution. The experimental setup overcomes the low efficiency of spin-resolved measurements, which gets even more severe for the pump-probed unoccupied states, and affords the opportunity to investigate ultrafast electron and spin dynamics of modern quantum materials with energy and time resolutions of 25 meV and 360 fs, respectively.

    Spin- and angle-resolved photoelectron spectrometer using a laser light of 6.994 eV as a photon source has been developed at Laser and Synchrotron Research Center in Institute for Solid State Physics. The spectrometer consists of a high-energy resolution photoelectron analyzer and two high-efficient spin detectors associating very low energy electron diffraction, which allows us to analyze the three-dimensional spin polarization of electrons with high-energy and -angular resolutions. Fermi surface mapping and spin- and angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy of a surface state of Bi(111) have been performed to demonstrate the performance of the new spectrometer.

    The electronic band structure of Pt-induced nanowires on Ge(001) (Pt/Ge(001) NWs) has been studied with angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy. We have found two metallic bands with <i>s</i>-polarized light. One of the bands shows the straight Fermi lines, indicating that it is an ideal one-dimensional metallic state. On the other hand, a density of state of the band at Fermi level is not suppressed and the spectral shape agrees with a Fermi-Dirac-type distribution function even at 6 K, well below the temperature of the structural phase transition of Pt/Ge(001) NWs. We therefore conclude that the electron in the one-dimensional metallic band behaves not as a Luttinger liquid but as a one-dimensional Fermi gas.

    The Ti 3<TEX>$d$</TEX>electronic structure of Ti2O3 across metal–insulator transition (MIT) has been investigated by means of polarization－dependent soft X－ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) at the Ti 2<TEX>$ p$</TEX>edge. The XAS spectra exhibit a remarkable linear dichroism (LD) between the polarization vectors of the incident light parallel and perpendicular to the Ti ion pair along the <TEX>$c$</TEX>－axis. LD intensity is significantly reduced at 520 K in the metallic phase in comparison with that at 300 K in the insulating phase, indicating a large change in <TEX>$a_{1g}$</TEX>and <TEX>$e_{g}^{\pi}$</TEX>orbital occupations. The results are qualitatively consistent with a recent theory, where the MIT is due to the change of the 3<TEX>$d$</TEX>electronic configuration in the Ti pair along the <TEX>$c$</TEX>－axis driven by a change in the <TEX>$t_{2g}$</TEX>level splitting relative to the on－site exchange interaction.

    Topological Dirac semimetals (TDSs) exhibit bulk Dirac cones protected by<br /> time reversal and crystal symmetry, as well as surface states originating from<br /> non-trivial topology. While there is a manifold possible onset of<br /> superconducting order in such systems, few observations of intrinsic<br /> superconductivity have so far been reported for TDSs. We observe evidence for a<br /> TDS phase in FeTe$_{1-x}$Se$_x$ ($x$ = 0.45), one of the high transition<br /> temperature ($T_c$) iron-based superconductors. In angle-resolved photoelectron<br /> spectroscopy (ARPES) and transport experiments, we find spin-polarized states<br /> overlapping with the bulk states on the (001) surface, and linear<br /> magnetoresistance (MR) starting from 6 T. Combined, this strongly suggests the<br /> existence of a TDS phase, which is confirmed by theoretical calculations. In<br /> total, the topological electronic states in Fe(Te,Se) provide a promising high<br /> $T_c$ platform to realize multiple topological superconducting phases.

    Recently, scanning photoemission microscopy has been combined with angle-resolved photoemission microscopy (ARPES) to enable nano-ARPES measurements with high spatial-resolution. In this research, we have utilized nano-ARPES to conduct surface-selective ARPES measurements of a quasi-1D crystal β-Bi&lt;sub&gt;4&lt;/sub&gt;I&lt;sub&gt;4&lt;/sub&gt;. Our ARPES results reveal that the quasi-1D topological surface states present only on the side surface of the crystal and hence β-Bi&lt;sub&gt;4&lt;/sub&gt;I&lt;sub&gt;4&lt;/sub&gt; is the first weak topological insulator confirmed by ARPES experiments.

    Cu(110)(2×1)O表面は、表面 [1-10]方向にCu(110)清浄面とCuO再構成面が交互に配列した、ストライプ表面である。我々は、放射光励起の高分解能角度分解光電子分光により、このストライプ表面の電子状態を詳細に観測した。その結果、ストライプに垂直な方向で、清浄表面領域に存在する電子が閉じ込めの効果を受け、量子井戸状態を形成することを観測した。

    <p>We have investigated the spin-polarized band structure of a Sn monoatomic layer formed by intercalation into graphene/SiC interface by spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. We find coexistence of Zeeman- and Rashba-type spin-polarized bands at the K point. This result departs from understanding with taking the lattice symmetry only into account, where the Zeeman type is consistent with the lattice symmetry while the Rashba type is inconsistent. On the other hand, the symmetry of the charge density distribution clearly explains the nature of the spin-polarized bands. We conclude that the symmetry of the charge density distribution is a key to understand the nature of the spin splitting.</p>

    <p>Pb/Ge(111)の表面電子状態について，レーザースピン分解光電子分光を行った。鏡映面上ではラシュバ効果で予想される方向にスピンベクトルは向くが，軌道の対称・非対称成分でそのスピン偏極度の符号は反転することを見出した。また，入射光の電場ベクトルをp偏光やs偏光といった理想的な条件からずらすと，ラシュバスピン偏極方向以外にもスピン偏極成分が現れる。光の入射角依存性が光電子スピンに及ぼす影響についても言及する。</p>

    Fe3O4はは逆スピネル構造でFe3+がO2-と4面体配位しているAサイト、Fe2+とFe3+がO2-と8面体配位しているBサイトを持つ混合原子価状態をとっている。DFT計算や実験によりバルクの表面はBサイト終端であることが示されている。しかし、今回、薄膜の表面ではAサイト終端であることが示された。また、表面物性の終端依存性を光電子分光により調べた。

    Cu(001)上に成長させたNi超薄膜は6~8MLを境界に面内磁気異方性から表面垂直磁気異方性に転移することが知られている。この現象を電子状態の観点から解明するため、角度分解光電子分光(ARPES)実験を行った。試料の膜厚はRHEED振動を観測することで制御し、作成を行った。磁気異方性転移前後の膜厚を含むいくつかの膜厚の試料を作成し、それらの電子状態を直接観測した。

    我々は，PbとBiをGe(111)表面上に共吸着することにより，これまで報告されていない新奇な表面超構造を作成することに成功した。講演では，この表面の電子状態について報告する。角度分解光電子分光及びスピン分解光電子分光より，この表面にはスピン偏極した金属的表面電子状態が存在することがわかった。これは，今後の固体表面でのスピン輸送の研究に向けて重要な発見である。

    4/3原子層の鉛原子をGe(111)表面に吸着すると，(r3xr3)R30deg.周期の表面超構造を形成することが知られている。我々は，この表面について角度分解光電子分光，及びスピン角度分解光電子分光を行った。その結果，鉛由来の金属的な表面電子状態がラッシュバ効果によりスピン分裂していることを明らかにした。さらに，第一原理計算からもこの結論を支持する結果が得られた。

    0.5原子層のSnを蒸着したCu(001)表面は，表面電荷密度波状態を示すことが報告されている。一方で，窒素をCu(001)表面に吸着するとCu表面の原子配列に圧縮歪みが生じることも知られている。本研究では，圧縮歪みを受けたN/Cu(001)表面上にSnを蒸着し，その表面構造をSTM観測により決定した。また，角度分解光電子分光法により，構造の変化に伴った表面電子状態についても明らかにした。

    磁性超薄膜Fe/Cu(001)に，サブモノレーヤーのCr原子を吸着させた試料を作成し，内殻吸収磁気円二色性（XMCD）分光の温度依存性実験を行った。得られた元素選択的XMCDスペクトルより，Crに磁気モーメントが誘起され，FeとCrの磁化は垂直磁気異方性を示し反強磁性的に結合していることがわかった。また，Cr原子吸着量に依存してfct-Feのキュリー温度が低下することが明らかになった。

    We have constructed a time-, spin- and momentum-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (tr-SARPES) apparatus employing a high-repetition 1MHz extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) pulse with 10.7 eV of photon energy. This state-of-the-art tr-SARPES apparatus permits us to perform high-repetition pump-probe measurements and investigate higher-lying occupied band structures above Fermi energy, its spin information and even its electron/spin dynamics just after optical excitation. By using this apparatus, we have successfully performed spin-polarized band mapping on the topological Dirac surface state in Sb2Te3.
