This paper reports the influence of rare-earth (RE) doping on static and dynamic magnetic properties of 50-nm-thick Fe-Ga films grown on a glass substrate. With the addition of RE elements, the magnetic softness of Fe-Ga films improved at higher RE content, which might be attributed to the induction of in-plane uniaxial anisotropy by RE doping. As for the dynamic properties of Fe-Ga-RE films, an overall increased effective in-plane damping constant (α//,eff) were observed as the increase of RE content, except for a decreased α//,eff from 0.0228 to 0.0151 at low RE contents. These results suggest that the addition of RE could induce tunable magnetic properties in Fe-Ga films, making resultant Fe-Ga-RE films as one of the promising candidates for the sensing applications and high frequency microwave magnetic devices.

Electrical equivalent circuit parameters of a microstrip line (MSL) with a Co-Zr-Nb film as a noise suppressor were estimated by magnetic circuit analysis. First, the magnetic flux distribution in the cross section of the MSL with Co-Zr-Nb film was theoretically calculated to determine the magnetic flux path of the magnetic circuit. Second, the circuit parameters were calculated by the magnetic circuit analysis and compared with the values obtained by S-parameter measurement. The results are in good agreement, which indicates the feasibility of the estimation of the electrical equivalent circuit parameters of the MSL with the noise suppressor using the magnetic circuit analysis with the cross-sectional dimensions and material properties.

This study discusses incentives and disincentives for students to participate in community education for developing their generic skills. In this study, we clarify the followings. 1) Interacting with younger people enhances students&rsquo; willingness to participate. 2) The community education was highly evaluated by the higher grade students who participate many times. 3) The issue is securing the time to participate in community education. 4) Lower grade students are not sure of whether they will continue to participate in the future activities because of other reasons such as club activities or studies. Therefore, it is important to create opportunities at an appropriate timing to encourage them to participate in ongoing community education.

Digital circuits in a mobile communication IC Chip become more enormous for LTE class design. This potentially causes the undesigned noise coupling in the receiver circuit and leads to the deterioration of overall system communication quality. In this study, noise reduction techniques have been explored. A prototype chip having a digital noise generator, LTE-class wireless receiver circuit and on-chip voltage waveform monitor, EMI tester, and the system level simulator for measuring communication quality are prepared for this study. We measured and analyzed the effect of three terminal capacitor on the chip and board level noise coupling. As a result, it exhibits a noise reduction effect of 5dB at the system level in the 2GHz band used in LTE. This will improve communication quality.

The integrated simulation was constructed using the full wave 3-dimensional electromagnetic field simulator and the circuit analysis in order to analyze the mechanism of the on-chip conductive and the inductive noise coupling in LTE-class RFIC. From the constructed simulation, the main EM noise coupling on the chip revealed as the conductive and the inductive noise coupling. Furthermore, the noise suppression mechanism using the magnetic thin film was discussed.

As a solution to on-board-level the electromagnetic compatibility problem, a metal-coated non-woven fabric with high sheet resistance is proposed. In this paper, we compared the conductive noise suppression in a microstripline (MSL), which was prepared with reference to the IEC62333-2, using the 80 x 80 mm sized non-woven fabric and 80 x 80 mm sized continuous conductors to clarify whether there is the difference and to clarify what the factor that makes the difference. As a result of this, we showed that there is the difference in the loss in the MSL when the direction of fibers of the nonwoven fabric is perpendicular and parallel to the direction of the signal line. In addition to this, we showed that the loss in the MSL using the non-woven fabric is 16% greater than the loss in the MSL using continuous conductors from 0.4 to 1.5 GHz.

A technological challenge of LTE(Long Term Evolution) class RFIC is to solve desensitization of receiver circuit caused by the harmonics of clock signal of RF-digital circuits implemented in the in the same IC chip. This problem turns out to be noticeable as the degital assist technique for Si-CMOS circuit becomes popular. This paper explains a new technology to suppress electric current-driven noise on IC chip by utilizing ferromagnetic resonance losses of magnetic thin film in a popular LTE downlink frequency band of 2GHz range. The in-band spurius level was suppressed by 10dB while keeping the Throughput fraction higher than 95%.

This paper describes that the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) frequency shift can be calculated by an electromagnetic field simulator based on the Maxwell's equation although the relative permeability and the FMR frequency is defined by the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) and the Kittel's equation. We evaluate the magnetic circuit model with the leakage magnetic flux path for considering the demagnetizing field generated in the magnetic film. As the result, we clarify that the effect of the demagnetizing field is considered as a reluctance of the leakage magnetic flux path in the magnetic circuit calculation, which is considered as the increase of anisotropy field in the Kittel's equation. Furthermore, we show that the simulated FMR frequency by the electromagnetic simulator agrees with the measured values.

The metal coated non-woven fabrics is proposed as a solution to on-board-level the electromagnetic compatibility problem. This paper discussed the shielding effectiveness and Joule loss of the metal coated non-woven fabric using an electrical circuit analysis and full wave electromagnetic field simulation. Shielding effectiveness of the non-woven fabric is essentially equivalent to that of the continuous film and can be estimated with sheet resistance defined as the quotient of thickness and resistivity of the non-woven fabrics. Oh the other hand, noise suppression in near field can be obtained with the circuit model using the capacitances of between non-woven fabrics.

A long term evolution (LTE)-class CMOS radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) receiver test element group (TEG) chip is developed in our project for the next generation cell phone handsets in order to clarify the on-chip-level noise coupling and demonstrate the noise attenuation using the soft magnetic thin film as an on-chip electromagnetic noise suppressor. The TEG chip equips a noise generator and a RF receiver block. The RF block amplifies and demodulates transmitted signals to IQ signals. A Co_<85>Zr_3Nb_<12> soft magnetic thin film is integrated onto the TEG chip as a noise suppressor. In this report. the noise generator is driven by a clock signal of 1 24.803 MHz and generates 17th harmonics of 2,165MHz conflicts with the LTE band 1 (2,110-2,170MHz). As a result. the in-band digital noise was suppressed 5-20dB by the Co-Zr-Nb thin film as an integrated noise suppressor.

New measurement method for L-coupling on the basis of the IEC standard to evaluate the sheet type ferromagnetic noise suppressor is proposed. Performance of magnetic thin-film is evaluated as a candidate for on-chip noise suppressor. Miniature loops coils implemented on a 90 nm design test element group (TEG) chip are used as the noise transmitter and receiver. Differential transmission parameter S_<dd21> is evaluated as a measure of inductive noise intra-decoupling. Magnetic film is useful for frequency selective noise decoupler. The coupling is supported most at the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) frequency, which is deviated from its intrinsic frequency and the degree of deviation can be calculated by using characteristic length. These results demonstrate that the proposed method is useful to characterize the IC chip level noise suppressor in the GHz range.

We have clarified through experiments and three-dimensional (3-D) finite-element method (FEM) electromagnetic field simulation that there is an optimum sheet resistance that maximize the loss in thin-film RF noise suppression films. In this paper the mechanism of optimum sheet resistance was analyzed based on analytical calculation, as well as 3-D FEM simulation as the reference. A disk model Was employed so that the eddy current losses generated by signal-line current and hence the flux linkage perpendicularly to the film plane can be analyzed. Eddy current losses and the optimum sheet resistance which maximize high harmonic losses in the disk model were qualitatively agreed between the two calculations.

This paper discusses about frequency and size dependence on the optimum sheet resistance of RF noise suppression films, which maximize high harmonic losses in transmission lines, using three-dimensional (3-D) finite-element method (FEM) electromagnetic field simulation. In the simulation model, noise suppression films with sheet resistance of 10^0〜10^6Ω/square were put on top of a microstrip-line. Based on simulated results of eddy currents in the film, mechanism of optimum sheet resistance was analyzed. At 0.5, 2,5 and 10GHz, simulated maximum power losses of the microstrip-line were 0.06 with sheet resistance of 2000Ω/square, 0.19 with sheet resistance of 1000Ω/square, 0.34 with sheet resistance of 400Ω/square and 0.49 with sheet resistance of 200Ω/square. With increasing of the film length, the optimum sheet resistance is fixed and power losses increase proportional to the length. With increasing of the film width, the optimum sheet resistance shift to lower value and power losses increase. With increasing of the film thickness, both the optimum sheet resistance and power losses are almost same for all thicknesses. Designing a magnetic film based on optimum sheet resistance and ferromagnetic resonance, the simulated power loss reached 0.53, which was increased by 63% compared with nonmagnetic film.

<p>In order to investigate an evaluation method of lighting space by parameters of brain waves, EEG measurement and opinion test were done in a room with a color lighting. The color lighting with 64 Organic-LED panels was located in front of a subject, with a distance of 2.8 m and a height of 1 m. Color was changed such as red, green, etc. with interval of 90 s. The opinion test about "Comfortableness", "Feeling", etc. was done with five-grade scale. Thirteen subjects (21-23 ages) provided written informed consent. In the case when color changed from green to red, mean opinion score (MOS) of "Comfortableness" decreased, and a correspondence with fast-alpha-wave power component was observed. In some cases, the relationship with MOS and the component was not observed depending on the color change. However, these results indicate the feasibility of using of EEG information to evaluate the lighting space.</p>

This paper systematically discusses fabrication process, morphological observation and electromagnetic noise suppression performance of new series of the non-woven fabric type noise suppressor consisting only of the meltblown thin fibers. Effect of contact resistance has been clarified experimentally for the first time as the sheet resistance becomes the less and accordingly the loss ration becomes higher as the pressure during fabrication increases, and as the heat treatment is applied to weld the fibers. The noise suppression performance was as high as conventional thick-thin fiber type NSS.

Crossed anisotropy amorphous Co85Zr3Nb12 thin film with total magnetic thickness of 2.0 mu m is deposited on to the passivation of a test IC chip to accommodate intra IC chip level digital-to-RF noise suppression and telecommunication performance simultaneously. This technology is applicable to other frequency band in 0.41 to 3 GHz by using Co85(x+y)Zr3+xNb12+y (x: 0. 5.5, y: 0.-11.0) film. In-band spurious tone is attenuated by 10 dB and the minimum input power level to meet the 3GPP criteria is improved by 8 dB. Intra electromagnetic coupling analysis from digital to RF circuits within the bandwidth of wireless channels have clarified that the magnetic film suppressed conduction noise in on-chip wires.

A new noise suppressor made from metal-coated non-woven fabrics is developed and studied by electromagnetic simulation and measurements. In the case of far fields, the shielding effectiveness to plane waves can be calculated using sheet resistance by regarding the non-woven fabric as a continuous metal sheet. Therefore, we show that the low wave impedance in the fine fiber layers generates a high shielding effectiveness. In the case of near fields, conductive noise suppression in a Microstrip line (MSL) with the non-woven fabric and with a continuous conductor is measured. Consequently, we clarify that there are some cases wherein the loss in the MSL while using the non-woven fabric is greater than that while using a continuous conductor in a specific frequency range. In this measurement, the loss from a noise suppression sheet (NSS) was 16% higher than that from a continuous film. From these results, we have successfully demonstrated the higher conductive noise suppression performance of the proposed thin, light, and flexible NSS.

In-band spurious tones of a LTE-class radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) receiver test element group (TEG) chip was studied in order to evaluate the degree of noise suppression by means of soft magnetic thin film. A 2-mu m-thick crossed anisotropy multilayered Co-Zr-Nb film was appllied onto the passivation layer of TEG chip. The in-band spurious was suppressed by 10 dB while it had no influence upon wanted signal. A magnetic near field map measured in the 2.1 GHz range indicated several noise coupling paths on chip, which were compared with the chip layout design to estimate victim wires. EM simulation model in connection with circuit simulation is carefully constructed. RF control wirings were most responsible wires than other wires and air couplings. EM simulation predicted the magnetic film should suppress noise by the maximum of 33 dB while it was 10 dB experimentally because of Si substrate coupling and board coupling.

Substrate noise coupling in RE receiver front end circuitry for LTE wireless communication was examined by full-chip level simulation and on-chip measurements, with a demonstrator built in a 65 nm CMOS technology. A complete simulation how of full-chip level substrate noise coupling uses a decoupled modeling approach, where substrate noise waveforms drawn with a unified package-chip model of noise source circuits are given to mixed-level simulation of RF chains as noise sensitive circuits. The distribution of substrate noise in a chip and the attenuation with distance are simulated and compare with the measurements. The interference of substrate noise at the 17th harmonics of 124.8 MHz - the operating frequency of the CMOS noise emulator creates spurious tones in the communication bandwidth at 2.1 GHz.

Integration of three-dimensional microcoils on high-performance RF-LSI is one of the key technologies to realize future wireless telecommunication services and hypersensitive capacitance sensor systems. We designed and fabricated monolithic three-dimensional microcoils on an LSI substrate. The microcoil has long legs, which will minimize electromagnetic coupling to the LSI substrate. We succeeded in confirming the basic operation of the integrated oscillator circuit in the gigahertz frequency range. It was confirmed that process damage due to plasma ashing, heating at 200 degrees C, and sputter etching were not observed in the oscillation performance. (C) 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

The noise suppression on the transmission line, fabricated in a 0.15μm five metals SOI-CMOS technology with high resistivity substrate, has been demonstrated using the CoZrNb soft magnetic film. The power loss of 37% was obtained at the frequency of 7GHz in coplanar line with film and 17% was obtained at the frequency of 5.4GHz in microstrip line with film. As a result, a large loss was obtained by short length of the transmission line.

A novel estimation method of magnetic coupling coefficients between printed-circuit-board-level traces and components using a near field information was investigated and proposed. First, a simple one-turn loop current model with uniform current distribution was proposed as the equivalent magnetic source of the traces. The measured magnetic near-field distributions above the traces at 1 GHz were input to the trained classifier or regressor to estimate the geometry of the loop current models. Next, the magnetic coupling coefficient between two traces was estimated through calculating the coupled magnetic flux between the estimated loop current models. The magnetic coupling coefficients between the loop current models estimated by measured magnetic near-field distribution agreed with the coupling coefficients calculated by the full-wave simulation within 10%, which indicates the feasibility of estimating the magnetic field coupling by the proposed method.

This study focuses on the magnetization dynamics of the magnetic ultrathin films which was one of the fundamental parameter for the new energy saving type spintronics devices. This study also reports the development of our proposed measurement technique for the magnetization dynamics in magnetic thin films, which employs a microstripe line probe to detect ferromagnetic resonance spectra for a film sample either with or without tensile stress, and then investigates the mechanism of magnetization dynamics in their films using this measurement technique. This measurement technique allows for more precise evaluation of magnetization dynamics by providing information on both the saturation magnetization and damping constant simultaneously for individual sample. Additionally, as for the mechanism of magnetization dynamics in these films, their results demonstrate these parameters show more consistent relation suggesting that they are both originated from spin-orbital coupling.

This research aims for power reduction on Through Silicon Vias (TSVs) which extend in the stacking direction between three-dimensionally mounted high-density LSI chips. For the power reduction, we proposes charge recycling transmission scheme of stacked I/O configuration. In the proposed scheme, we also show theoretical approach to clarify the power reduction ratio. The approach suggests that 32-64-bits bus width is suitable for the transmission scheme. Using the bus width, actual circuits has been designed in standard CMOS process. Simulations of the circuit shows that the power consumption is comparable to the prior art of special semiconductor process. This suggests that cutting-edge power reduction can be achieved by standard CMOS process and wide bus width. Then, test-chip has been actually prototyped using a 65 nm CMOS process.

This study reports the fundamental properties of spin-dynamics in Fe-M binary alloys and Co soft magnetic alloys with various shapes, clarifies understanding both the mechanism of spin-dynamics and the control of spin-dynamics, and further suggests the material design guide. All alloys possess the correlation between a damping constant and a saturation magnetostriction regardless of scales. These results reveal that the mechanism of spin-dynamics is derived from the spin-orbital coupling. These results also suggest that the spin dynamics can be controlled by composition ratio, variation in the scales (thickness and size), and other elements addition. Furthermore, as for the material design guides, it is very important to select both the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) frequency and its line-width carefully: FMR frequency can be estimated by considering the demagnetizing field based on the scale of the alloys. The line-width is designed with the statics magnetic properties of the alloys.

This study demonstrates and analytically discussed that a magnetic film becomes transparent for the magnetic flux when the relative permeability of the magnetic film becomes negative above the intrinsic ferromagnetic resonance frequency. The shielding effectiveness of the magnetic flux through the magnetic film was evaluated by a magnetic circuit considering leakage magnetic flux from the magnetic film and demonstrated by the near field measurement using shielded loop coil type magnetic field probe. In this case, the coplanar and microstrip transmission lines was developed as a flux source. As a result, it was clarified that the magnetic flux in the magnetic circuit increases when the magnetic circuit resonated with a negative reluctance of magnetic film. Therefore, the magnetic film can behave as a bandpass filter.

This project discussed the impedance calculation technique of on-chip power distribution network using ferromagnetic resonance loss generated in magnetic films at GHz frequency range. We evaluated the magnetic circuit model with the leakage magnetic flux path for considering the demagnetizing field generated in the magnetic film. The result shows the ferromagnetic film integrated onto the on-chip power lines can be designed by an electromagnetic field simulator based on the Maxwell's equation at 1-7GHz.
