<title>Abstract</title> We study the topological charge density distribution using the 2D $\mathbb{C}P^{N-1}$ model. We numerically compute not only the topological susceptibility, which is a spatially global quantity, to probe the topological properties of the whole system, but also the topological charge correlator with finite momentum. We perform a Fourier power spectrum analysis for the topological charge density for various values of the inverse temperature $\beta$. We propose to utilize the Fourier entropy as a convenient measure to characterize spatial distribution patterns and demonstrate that the Fourier entropy exhibits nontrivial temperature dependence. We also consider the snapshot entropy defined with the singular value decomposition, which also turns out to behave nonmonotonically with the temperature. We give a possible interpretation suggested from the strong-coupling analysis.

We present the nucleon form factors and root-mean-square (RMS) radii measured on a (10.8 fm$)^4$ lattice at the physical point. We compute the form factors at small momentum transfer region in $q^2\le 0.102$ GeV$^2$ with the standard plateau method choosing four source-sink separation times $t_{\rm sep}$ from 0.84 to 1.35 fm to examine the possible excited state contamination. We obtain the electric and magnetic form factors and their RMS radii for not only the isovector channel but also the proton and neutron ones without the disconnected diagram. We also obtain the axial-vector coupling and the axial radius from the axial-vector form factor. We find that these three form factors do not show large $t_{\rm sep}$ dependence in our lattice setup, and those RMS radii are consistent with the experimental values. On the other hand, the induced pseudoscalar and pseudoscalar form factors show the clear effects of the excited state contamination, which affect the generalized Goldberger-Treiman relation.

We present a numerical lattice quantum chromodynamics calculation of isovector form factors and the first few moments of the isovector structure functions of the nucleon. The calculation employs two degenerate dynamical flavors of domain-wall fermions, resulting in good control of chiral symmetry breaking. Non-perturbative renormalization of the relevant quark currents is performed where necessary. The inverse lattice spacing, $a^{-1}$, is about 1.7 GeV. We use degenerate up and down dynamical quark masses around 1, 3/4 and 1/2 the strange quark mass. The physical volume of the lattice is a...

We study the relation between color confinement and chiral symmetry breaking in the background of condensed monopoles at T = 0 and T ≠ 0. We formulate the Schwinger-Dyson (SD) equation including the vacuum polarization effect, which could remove the infrared singularity, in the dual Ginzburg-Landau theory. In order to solve the SD equation at T ≠ 0, we provide a new ansatz for the quark mass function in the imaginary-time formalism. We find the existence of a strong correlation between the critical temperature T_c of the chiral symmetry restoration and the confinement quantity such as the string tension.

We study nonperturbative features of QCD using the dual Ginzburg-Landau (DGL) theory, where the color confinement is realized through the dual Higgs mechanism brought by QCD-monopole condensation. The linear confinement potential appears in the QCD-monopole condensed vacuum. We study the infrared screening effect to the confinement potential by the light-quark pair creation, and derive a compact formula for the screened quark potential. We study the dynamical chiral-symmetry breaking (D_χSB) in the DGL theory by solving the Schwinger-Dyson equation. QCD-monopole condensation plays an essential role to D_χSB. The QCD phase transition at finite temperature is studied using the effective potential formalism in the DGL theory. We find the reduction of QCD-monopole condensation and the string tension at high temperatures. The surface tension is calculated using the effective potential at the critical temperature T_c. The DGL theory predicts a large mass reduction of glueballs near T_c. We apply the DGL theory to the quark-gluon-plasma (QGP) physics in the ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. We propose a new scenario of the QGP formation via the annihilation of color-electric flux tubes based on the attractive force between them.

The final goal of this project is to quantitatively understand the properties of nuclei, such as their mass and structure, from the first principle calculation of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), i.e., lattice QCD, which can directly calculate the characteristic structure of QCD, such as quark and gluon→nucleon→nucleus. We calculated the binding energy of the deuteron, which has the smallest mass number, because the nucleus study from lattice QCD is at an initial stage. The result is in good agreement with the expected value from the experiment, although the error is still large. It is an encouraging result to lay the foundation of the nucleus study from lattice QCD. Furthermore, we carried out calculations for the pion and nucleon form factors, which can be regarded as a pilot study for nucleus structure calculation. The results from those calculations agree with the experiments. Moreover, we proposed a new method to calculate scattering amplitudes using lattice QCD.

The problem of real-time evolution with quantum fluctuations has universal relevance for establishing descriptions for realistic physics phenomena. This is a very important problem, and nevertheless, no general and nonperturbative algorithm at work is known, especially for relativistic quantum field theory. For the purpose to attack this problem, we investigated the sign problem, fixed point structures of the Boltzmann equation, particle production calculations, transport coefficient estimations including resummed diagrams. In this way we took the approaches from various perspectives, to find concrete answers for respective problems.

To derive the nuclear force from first principle lattice quantum chromo dynamics (QCD) simulations, HAL QCD method was developed and established. The equation of state for asymmetric nuclear matter at finite temperature, which is the key input for describing the supernova explosion, was derived on the basis of the cluster variational method. Also, a reduction formula for the Wilson-fermion determinant necessary to study the phase structure of dense QCD was derived. The Gaussian expansion method for quantum few-body calculation was extended to five-body systems with arbitrary two-body interactions. The Monte Carlo shell model, which is powerful method to study the nuclear Hamiltonian with large dimension, was further developed by improving the numerical argorithm and by introducing a new extrapolation method on the basis of the energy variance. A new code of time-dependent density functional theory with particle paring was developed: It lead to a few orders of magnitude numerical speed-up and was applied to study various nuclear collective motions.

The latest lattice QCD calculations are progressing with steadily increasing accuracy due to the rapid development of the computer and the numerical algorithm. Fully dynamical QCD simulations with two degenerate light (up and down) and heavier (strange) flavors of quarks have been mostly devoted to studies of the hadron structure by the worldwide lattice QCD community during the past several years. In this study, we take advantage of 2+1 flavor dynamical QCD gauge configurations, which are publicly available to lattice QCD community through ILDG (International Lattice Data Grid) and then st...

Inside the quark-gluon plasma, the quark-anti-quark potential becomes weak due to the thermal Debye screening. As a result, the bound states composed of heavy-quarks melt down above certain critical temperature. However, the precise relation between the melting temperature and the critical temperature of the confinement-deconfinement phase transition. We have carried out lattice QCD simulations to answer this problem and have found that heavy charmonium such as J/Psi can survive even up to 1.7 times the critical temperature. The large volume simulations as well as the use of the Bayesian statistics play essential role in this study. In the interior of the neutron stars and quark stars, there may exist quark matter composed of deconfined quarks. Since there is always an attractive channel in the quark-quark interaction at the Fermi surface, quark matter is in the color superconducting state. We have carried our Ginzburg-Landau analysis of the phase transition between the color superconducting state and the normal state and found that the phase transition is driven to first order due to the thermal fluctuation of the gluons. We have applied the maximum entropy method to analyses the excited baryon spectra calculated on the lattice. It was found that the method can extract the position of the positive and negative excited states of the nucleon correctly. Also, the method is powerful enough to separate the physical spectra and the unphysical spectra due to lattice discretization.
