<title>Abstract</title>Physics of Weyl electrons has been attracting considerable interests and further accelerated by recent discoveries of giant anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and topological Hall effect (THE) in several magnetic systems including non-coplanar magnets with spin chirality or small-size skyrmions. These AHEs/THEs are often attributed to the intense Berry curvature generated around the Weyl nodes accompanied by band anti-crossings, yet the direct experimental evidence still remains elusive. Here, we demonstrate an essential role of the band anti-crossing for the giant AHE and THE in MnGe thin film by using the terahertz magneto-optical spectroscopy. The low-energy resonance structures around ~ 1.2 meV in the optical Hall conductivity show the enhanced AHE and THE, indicating the emergence of at least two distinct anti-crossings near the Fermi level. The theoretical analysis demonstrates that the competition of these resonances with opposite signs is a cause of the strong temperature and magnetic-field dependences of observed DC Hall conductivity. These results lead to the comprehensive understanding of the interplay among the transport phenomena, optical responses and electronic/spin structures.

We have conducted research to establish a technique to reproduce superconducting transition temperatures of hydrogen compounds and to explore new superconducting materials. We found that the superconducting transition temperature of LaH10 can be explained by quantum effects originating from the quantum fluctuation of hydrogen, and showed that the transition temperature can be reproduced quantitatively. We also studied hydrides containing sulfur and carbon, which were experimentally pointed out as possible room-temperature superconductors, and clarified that the room-temperature superconductivity cannot be explained by the conventional mechanism. We believe that these results will be indispensable knowledge in the exploration of new superconducting materials with higher transition temperatures.

We have developed (1) an efficient method to calculate the electron-phonon coupling constant which gives rapid convergence with respect to the size of the k-mesh, (2) a method to calculate the effect of the spin-orbit coupling on the electron-phonon coupling, and (3) a method to quantify the instability of odd-parity superconductivity. With these methods, we have studied superconductivity in F-doped LaOBiS2, In-doped topological crystalline insulator SnTe, Cu-doped topological insulator Bi2Se3. We have also developed a first-principles method based on the Migdal-Eliashberg theory considering the effects of zero-point motion, anharmonicity, retardation effect, the vertex correction (going beyond the standard Migdal approximation), and studied high temperature superconductivity in H3S under high pressure.

We developed methods to calculate superconducting transition temperatures from first principles. As for the approach combining density functional theory and many-body methods, we formulated schemes taking account of the spin-orbit coupling and the electron-phonon coupling. For superconducting density functional theory, we developed a scheme for the plasmon mechanism. We applied these methods to iron-based superconductors, layered nitrides, heavy fermion systems, carbon-based superconductors, and elemental lithium under high pressures.

We clarified the effect of lattice vibration on the electronic structures from first principles. In particular, for superconductivity we developed a new program based on the fundamental equation and found that the obtained critical temperature agrees well with the experiment in the fullerene compounds. We also showed that the temperature and isotope dependence of the band gap in diamond can be explained by taking into account the lattice vibration. In addition, we proposed a new one-dimensional alkali-doped fullerene compounds encapsulated in BN nanotubes, which may exhibit high-temperature superconductivity. Furthermore, we studied the optical properties of ultrathin carbon nanotubes and found that most of them are non-luminescent.
