Quantum Hall edge excitations, whose low-energy behavior admits a chiral conformal-field-theory description, are a promising platform for engineered dynamical experiments, including analog-spacetime proposals. However, establishing their edge dynamics in realistic electrostatic landscapes is essential for controlled dynamical experiments and has remained experimentally challenging. Here we report spatiotemporal imaging of gate-controlled multipath dynamics of edge excitations in a $ν= 1/3$ fractional quantum Hall device using stroboscopic time-resolved photoluminescence microscopy and spectroscopy with $\sim$100-ps resolution. By tuning a control-gate-defined potential landscape, we observe switching between mesa-defined and gate-defined trajectories and identify an intermediate regime in which a single launched excitation accesses multiple pathways. Time-resolved measurements at downstream locations reveal gate-dependent arrival times and pronounced temporal broadening, showing that the propagation dynamics are strongly modified by the local confinement and become increasingly dispersive in a multipath landscape. We further observe a long-range transverse optical response extending tens of micrometers into the bulk and persisting over distances exceeding 200 $μ$m downstream, consistent with the near-field component of an edge magnetoplasmon. These results establish direct experimental access to controllable multipath edge dynamics in the fractional quantum Hall regime and suggest a platform for engineered nonequilibrium and interference-based experiments, as well as future analog-spacetime studies in quantum Hall edge systems.

We propose an experimental method for extracting the zero-point energy from a local vacuum state by performing local operations and classical communication (LOCC). We model a quantum Hall edge channel as a quantum entangled many-body channel and the zero-point fluctuation in the charge density of the channel as the vacuum state. We estimate the order of the energy gain using reasonable experimental parameters. Such a quantum feedback system breaks the passivity of a local vacuum state. It can be used to demonstrate Maxwell's demon or quantum energy teleportation in which no physical entity transports energy.

We apply a voltage pulse to electrically excite the incompressible region of a two-dimensional electron liquid in the $\nu=2/3$ fractional quantum Hall state and investigate the collective excitations in both the edge and bulk via photoluminescence spectral energy shifts. Introducing an offset in the voltage pulse significantly enhances the excitation signal. Real-space and time-resolved measurements reveal the dynamics of the bulk excitations, with an estimated group velocity of approximately $3 \times 10^4$ m/s. These bulk excitations align well with the magneto-plasmon model. Our results highlight the topological link between edge and bulk states, providing a novel approach to exploring solid-state analogs of quantum gravity.

This study explores the relationship between spin diffusion, spin lifetime, electron density and lateral spatial confinement in two-dimensional electron gases hosted in GaAs quantum wells. Using time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect microscopy, we analyze how Hall-bar channel width and back-gate voltage modulation influence spin dynamics. The results reveal that the spin diffusion coefficient increases with reduced channel widths, a trend further amplified at lower electron concentrations achieved via back-gate voltages, where it increases up to 150% for the narrowest channels. The developed theoretical model confirms the spatial inhomogeneities in the spin diffusion as arising from electron-density variations within the channels. The results underscore the importance of tuning electron density and spatial geometry to optimize spin transport and coherence, providing valuable design considerations for spintronic devices where efficient spin manipulation is crucial.

Using photoluminescence microscopy enhanced by MRI, we visualize in real space both electron and nuclear polarization occurring in non-equilibrium FQH liquids. We observe stripe-like regions comprising FQH excited states which discretely form when the FQH liquid is excited by a source-drain current. These regions are topologically protected and deformable, and give rise to bidirectionally polarized nuclear spins as spin-resolved electrons flow across their boundaries.

Nothingness is not empty in physics. It stands for the vacuum state of quantum fields with spatially entangled zero-point fluctuation. The vacuum entanglement allows for quantum protocols which attain energy transportation using only local operations and classical communication in an operational meaning. Thus the protocol is referred to as quantum energy teleportation (QET). QET is expected to be implemented by using quantum Hall edge currents. QET also sheds new light on the information loss problem of black hole evaporation.

We study decoherence of nuclear spins in a nanoscale GaAs device based on resistively detected nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). We demonstrate how the spin echo technique can be modified for our system, and this is compared to the damping of Rabi-type coherent oscillations. By selectively decoupling nuclear-nuclear and electron-nuclear spin, we determine decoherence rates due to individual mechanisms, namely, direct or indirect dipole coupling between different or like nuclides and electron-nuclear spin coupling. The data reveal that the indirect dipole coupling between Ga and As mediated by conduction electrons has the strongest contribution, whereas the direct dipole coupling between them has the smallest, reflecting the magic angle condition between the As-Ga bonds and the applied magnetic field.

This research aims to establish control and observation techniques for one-dimensional quasiparticles (such as plasmons) and two-dimensional quasiparticles (such as fractional charges) by focusing on mesoscopic quantum Hall systems in which functional quantum devices are integrated into semiconductor heterostructures under strong magnetic fields. By doing so, we will elucidate the conduction control of Tomonaga-Luttinger liquids and unique non-equilibrium phenomena in integer and fractional quantum Hall regimes. Furthermore, we will explore the physical properties of fractional charge tunneling processes and Andreev reflection, and conduct research towards highly efficient quantum-Hall heat engines utilizing non-thermal states of one-dimensional quasiparticles and braiding manipulation of two-dimensional quasiparticles.

In this project, we developed optically detected magnetic imaging and its derivative imaging techniques. We explored multifaceted phenomena in nanostructures involving nuclear spins, charges and spins of electrons, holes, and excitons in GaAs, GaN, and dichalcogenides. Our imaging wavelength spanned from 350 nm in the ultraviolet to 800 nm in the near infrared regime. Using the unique imaging techniques developed in this project, we successfully studied many-body effects of skyrmions, real-space and real-time imaging of excited states of chiral edge channels of integer and fractional quantum Hall effects, and spin helix transport in GaAs systems. In GaN systems, we revealed the type and the spatial distribution of impurities. We also studied photoconductivity in graphene/InSe devices and showed new potential applications of Van der Waals crystals.

Standard approach for quantum computation and information process is based on two-level systems, qubits. This research project, however, aims for new quantum information processing based on collective quantum system taking advantage of continuous variable of the field. During the projet term, we obtained a wide variety of results. We proposed a new approach for quantum energy teleportation to overcome the limitation of distance by introducing a squeezed state between a sender (A) and a receiver (B). We also demonstrated real-space imaging of collective nuclear spins by optically detected micro magnetic resonance.
